Big Idea
The argument in one line.
Posting a thousand pieces of content a day can build a business, but it also builds a team-heavy, calendar-packed life, and for most owners one high-quality video on one platform converts better and costs less of your life.
Who This Is For
Read if. Skip if.
READ IF YOU ARE…
A solo business owner or coach who feels pressure to post on every platform every day and is burning out on short-form content.
Someone who started an online business for freedom and wants to check whether the volume playbook actually fits the life they want.
A creator deciding whether to focus on long-form YouTube plus an email list instead of spreading thin across Instagram, TikTok and Shorts.
SKIP IF…
You genuinely love a packed schedule and a large team, and want a step-by-step volume strategy.
You need hard conversion data or case studies; the argument here rests on one operator's 16-year experience and a few platform benchmarks.
TL;DR
The full version, fast.
Turner argues that the high-volume content strategy promoted by Gary Vaynerchuk and Alex Hormozi works but requires the lifestyle they live: big teams, constant meetings and schedules packed end to end. Most business owners start online businesses for freedom, so she recommends the opposite model. Publish one deep, high-quality piece a month on a single platform, YouTube, where she says conversion and click-through rates far exceed the sub-1% rates of Instagram and TikTok, and nurture an email newsletter and an intimate podcast alongside it. Choose the strategy that fits your values, not the coach's prediction of the year.

A high-volume content strategy is also a staffing strategy: a thousand pieces a day needs constant filming, editing, uploading and graphics, which means a team to manage.
A big business behaves like a big house: the property tax and upkeep arrive with it, and most of the profit can disappear into feeding the machine.
One deep, rich video a month can do more for your authority than a pile of reels that attract poor leads and scatter your attention.
Turner says Instagram and TikTok conversion and click-through rates sit below 1%, while a high-quality long-form YouTube video performs far above industry standard.
Posting at extreme volume trains people to associate you with low-quality content, because the output becomes noise.
Urgency marketing from business coaches has always existed: 'this is the moment, everything is changing' is a recurring sales frame, not new information.
Before taking a coach's advice, look at their daily life and ask whether you want it; the strategy and the lifestyle come as a package.
The best restaurants are often open one day a week with a tiny menu, and they are known for one thing. Content can work the same way.
In a world of AI slop, good content is still good content, and that is the durable advantage.
You can only serve one of two masters in the content game: the algorithm, or your values and profits.
Takeaway
Pick the content model whose lifestyle you actually want.
WHAT TO LEARN
Every content strategy comes bundled with a lifestyle, so judge the volume playbook by the life it requires, not by the results it can produce.
02Check the lifestyle behind the advice
A coach's calendar tells you what their advice costs: end-to-end schedules and constant meetings come with the model they teach.
Name your North Star, such as freedom or contribution, and reject tactics that conflict with it even when they can work.
03The monster that requires food
High-volume content needs a team for filming, editing and uploading, so check whether you want to manage people before copying a volume strategy.
Growing the business also grows the overhead, and profit can end up feeding the machine instead of the owner.
04Urgency marketing and the freedom test
Urgency messaging from coaches recurs every year, so treat 'this is the moment' as a sales frame and decide from your own values.
04Her model: one platform, one deep video
One deep, high-quality video a month can build more authority and better leads than a stream of short posts that scatter your attention.
Short-form platforms convert and click through below 1% in her experience, while quality long-form YouTube performs well above industry standard.
Concentrate on one main platform and support it with an email list you nurture and a podcast for depth.
Glossary
Terms worth knowing.
Content volume
The number of pieces of content you publish per day or week, usually across several social platforms. The video argues that more is not automatically better.
Urgency marketing
Selling by claiming that now is the critical moment to act, often with a prediction that everything is about to change.
North Star
The core value that guides business decisions. For the speaker it is freedom and contribution.
AI slop
Low-effort, mass-produced AI-generated content that floods feeds and makes ordinary content harder to tell apart.
See every word as it's spoken — crank it to 2× and still catch all of it. The same dual-channel trick behind Amazon's Kindle + Audible.

Hey everybody, welcome to today's episode. Anti -AI check. Wouldn't AI do this?
No, it wouldn't. In today's episode, I'm going to be talking about the state of online business and what I see going forward in 2027. I wanted to clarify some things about volume.
Okay, so a lot of business owners And business coaches like Gary Vaynerchuk and Alex Hermosi are talking about how important it is to post high volume of content. How many pieces of content did you post in social yesterday?
Raise your hand and show me in fingers how many you posted. I posted 432.
I'm being serious. It's usually just a gross and disgusting amount of volume for an unending period of time. And as a business owner of over 16 years, I'm here to tell you less volume is better.
Less volume is better for most business owners. And I'm going to break down the simple math for you, okay? Can you post millions of pieces of content on the internet and get more visibility that way?
Of course. That has always been the case. Now, what I want to just plainly paint a picture for you on is When you're taking advice from Gary Vaynerchuk and Alex Hermosi about the business strategies that they're recommending to you, I want you to pay attention to the lifestyle that they have and really do a gut check for yourself and ask yourself a really important question of do you want that life for yourself?
Really good day. Meetings on meetings on meetings on meetings. So Alex Hermosi and Gary Vaynerchuk I'll love to both of them and Layla Hermosi.
We got to include her because she's half the brains of Alex Hermosi's business. You have to keep in mind that they have schedules that are end to end. And they've been very open about that fact.
And they have a large team of people that they have to manage on a daily basis. And they have to do things like have team meetings like every other day. And speaking from personal experience as a successful online business owner who's had my own little mini empire that I built with low volume.
and an empty calendar. I don't care if you paid me a million dollars a month. I am not going to have a business that requires me to have team meetings every week because I hate it.
And I also hate having a large team of people to manage. So can you use volume, volume, volume to build your business? Yes.
Can you also build a successful business with low volume? I'm a walking example of the fact that you absolutely can. And so there's a mountain, a proverbial mountain top that each business owner is hiking up towards.
And I want you to make sure that you're not hiking up the wrong damn trail. Because I think most people, when they're doing online business, They're climbing a ladder to get to a place that they don't really even want to get to.
I'm going to share a quick little background about my history in that I had a great deal of success in my early 20s. As a result of that great deal of success, because I was one of the first health and fitness influencers on the entire internet, I was a certified strength and conditioning specialist and a nutritional therapist.
And I was selling e -books and courses and all that stuff. And I had a great deal of financial success. And with that financial success, Um, when you're in your early twenties, you get the beautiful thing that you don't know what you don't know.
So I, my ex and I, we had fancy properties and I lived in Miami and we had a house with a pool in the backyard and we have more bedrooms than we could possibly do anything with and collecting dust. And, um, and I had just a little taste of what, you know, like, like the, the lavish lifestyle and like. What I'm saying is I still make great money today by any stretch.
I'm definitely in the top end of the bell curve on online business profitability, but I don't need $100 million. I don't need it because I don't need a palatial mansion filled with a bunch of empty bedrooms. So can you...
Build an empire like Alex Hermosi and Gary Vaynerchuk. Of course you can. You can do anything you want to do.
But speaking from personal experience, when you have a big fancy house, you also have a big fancy property tax bill. You also have to upkeep all that fancy stuff that comes with that house. And when you have a big fancy business, you have a big fancy team to go with it.
And when you have a $100 million business, you have a big fancy team to go with it. And you have an end -to -end schedule. It's just a never ending.
What Alex Hermosi and Gary Vaynerchuk are doing is they are in their fullest expression in their own flow. And you can tell that they are in their area and zone of genius and that they genuinely love having their lives cram packed with action. I posit to you, brothers and sisters, that most business owners who are starting the online business game don't want the lifestyle of Alex.
Hermosi, Layla Hermosi, and Gary Vaynerchuk in terms of your business. So be very careful when you're doing all that stuff because having the team, it's... When you build out a business, the way that they're prescribing that you build out a business, what you're doing is you're building a big giant monster that requires a lot of food.
So then what ends up happening, and there's lots of business owners and mentors of mine even that I learned this from, and teachers that I follow such as Allie Brown. She talked a lot about this in her own business where she had... she had something like a, I think it was like a $40 million per year business or whatever.
And she realized that most of that profit was just going into this machine, you know? And so you're building this giant machine of team and a big fancy house with a big fancy pool that requires a team. And it's just a never ending conveyor belt of.
um, stuff to do that you don't actually get to enjoy your life. So I'm going to give you just really quick, a quick layout of my own personal framework and my own personal business model over the last 16 years. And I don't care what Gary Vaynerchuk or Alex Hermosi or Layla Hermosi or any other business coach out in these streets are saying for their predictions going forward, because the truth of the matter is every business coach out there who does that urgency marketing, it's always existed.
There's always been the urgency marketing with online business coaches. There's always been a slew of business coaches out there saying, this is it. This is the time.
This is the moment. This is it. Everything's changing.
You need to really give your pound of flesh. Of course, sometimes we do have to pull an all -nighter. Every so often, you might have to do a weekend.
Every so often, you might have to work your ass off. But they're telling you to build a model. of a business that requires that you post a thousand pieces of content every day and what we get with that model is can that make you money yes are you are you going to enjoy it probably not is the content going to be any good probably not are you going to be proud of your work probably not you know if you are i'm really happy for you and there are going to be some business owners who see this video and they really it really appeals to them the alex hermosi kind of set up And the idea of having your schedule packed end to end and doing the add my let thing where he talked about how he's got like a lot of people made fun of it.
But he had this thing where he was like, I have my first work session from 6 a .m. to 12. And then I do my next one at 1 p .m.
to 5. And then I do another work session at 8 p .m. to 12.
And and it's like, cool. Like, if you enjoy that, I think it's beautiful. And there are seasons where maybe we might want to do that on occasion, but most people, I'd say about 80 to 90 % of the business owners who tune into my stuff and who want to grow a business, we're doing this for freedom so that we can enjoy our life.
So maybe you might have to grind a little bit in the beginning of your business. I'm not telling you you're not going to have to do that, but keep in mind when you're building a business and when you're taking actions in your business to grow your business, I find that it's smarter to do things that you actually enjoy because this is a marathon and not a sprint.
There is no such thing as a get -rich -quick scheme. There's no such thing as a, you know, you're not going to lose 50 pounds overnight. So I recommend, I'm going to lay out my strategy.
The Alex Hermosi and Gary Vaynerchuk strategy is to post 1 ,000 pieces of content every day, splice it up, get into the AI stuff, volume, volume, volume. That requires, by the way, lots of team, like I already said. Both of those people and Layla, let's say all three of those people that I just mentioned, they have a lot of team that they have to, when you have a large team, you need to manage that team.
They're going to ask you questions all the time. Ask me how I know. I say one.
good, helpful, deep piece of content is more likely to grow your business than thousands of pieces of content litter that don't do anything to show people your genius. If you have one deep, long, rich message in one video per month, even just one video per month, that's really good. that grabs the attention of people and really shows them that you're the creative genius that you are and that you're the expert that you are.
That one video goes a million miles farther than a bunch of Instagram reels and posts that drain your energy, that attract terrible leads, that require lots of different little scattered bits of attention. And it's all just one big sea of litter. The conversion rates on Instagram are so far below industry standard.
It's below 1%. The conversion rates on TikTok, it's below 1%. The click -through rates on these short form platforms, it's below 1%.
The conversion and click -through rates on a long form YouTube video that's actually high quality, it's so far above industry standard. So I've personally preferred for the past 16 years and my game plan going forward is to continue to make good videos that I am inspired to make that lead to a good offer. That's it.
And I'm using one platform to do this. So that's my YouTube channel. The bonus stuff behind the scenes is I have a newsletter that I've nurtured for the past 16 years that is ever changing and evolving.
I'm always trimming that up and I'm always growing my list. My list is very healthy. And I also have a podcast that's very intimate.
And that's where I give even more good stuff. And all of my content strategy is... It's meant to serve my life because I'm not a slave to this machine, okay?
So can you post thousands of pieces of content every day? Yes, but that's called being a slave, okay? So the algorithm is a double -edged sword.
Speaking from 16 years of online business experience, the algorithm is a double -edged sword. And there's a dark side to all this stuff. You can only serve one of two masters.
this game. So one master you can serve is your heart, your soul, your values, and your profits. That side, I believe, is the side that you want to stay on to stay healthy mentally, physically, emotionally, profitability -wise.
That is your North Star. And for every business owner, that's going to be different. My personal North Star is I like my freedom and I like to contribute.
Those are my two highest values. It does not contribute to the collective for me to post a thousand and one pieces of content every day because there's no way in hell those content pieces are going to be of any quality. Will it get me eyeballs?
Yeah. But it's not much of a contribution. So my sincerest efforts for the past 16 years is if I open my mouth and I post something to this platform, you better believe people listen because it's always good.
What happens when you start posting thousands of pieces of content all over the Internet is it starts to become noise and people start to equate you with low quality stuff. OK, so I say take the high road and keep it quality. Can we create a McDonald's franchise with our life's work?
Yes. Can we create piles and piles of French fries? Yes, of course, of course, of course.
I'm not saying that's what Gary Vaynerchuk and Alex Ramosi are doing, but I'm saying that's kind of the sentiment of the thousand pieces of content every day. We're talking McDonald's quality. But most of the business owners that I encounter, you want to make filet mignon.
You want your business to be filet mignon. You want to... create content that's filet mignon.
And if you go into an excellent restaurant, sometimes good restaurants are only open like twice a week. Some of the best restaurants I've ever gone to, they're only open one day a week. And they have a very limited menu and they're very well known for that one thing.
So in this growing world of AI slop and content becoming more and more ubiquitous, It's never, ever going to change the fact that good content is good content is good content. Don't let the noise distract you.
Don't let the noise pull at your attention. And most certainly, don't let the noise and the trends influence your life's work. You influence your life's work.
Doesn't matter what some business coach has to tell you about their strategy. If you don't like the way their lifestyle is and you don't like their setup, And you try it on for size in your mind's eye.
If it doesn't feel right for you, then it's not for you. Take what resonates from Alex Hermosi and Gary Vaynerchuk and Leila Hermosi because they really are great at what they do and they have some gems in there. But I personally disagree with so much of what they talk about in terms of content volume and content strategy and all that stuff.
It just doesn't align for most business owners. So if you don't have a big team, you don't want a big team, you don't want a slave machine that is your business, you want to have lots of freedom and empty calendar and all that stuff, you want to have work that you're really proud of, I highly suggest you follow your soul with all of it.
And you post consistently good content on one platform that I recommend, YouTube. And also nurture your email newsletter and your podcast. I wanted to also mention I have something called the YouTube Breakthrough Challenge.
This is the last challenge that I'm running for 2026. The next time I run it won't be till after 2027 and after the new monetization rules take into effect. So I'm really excited to work with the business owners who joined the challenge.
There's already so many business owners in the challenge and it's at brendaturner .com slash YT. That's five beautiful days of working directly with me to grow your YouTube channel. And each day I'm going to be taking you through the creation of excellent YouTube videos.
So we're talking quality filet mignon stuff. I'm going to teach you how to create filet mignon on YouTube so that you can grow your business and your YouTube channel in a way that doesn't require the slave energy, okay? So going forward in 2027, let's keep your eyes focused on your own paper and anchor into your heart and soul with your life's work because it will never steer you wrong.
Okay, everybody, I'll see you in the challenge, hopefully starting on Monday, and I'll see you also in the next episode.
