Big Idea
The argument in one line.
On Trybe a creator with zero sales has zero leverage, so the fastest path to the first $1,000 in GMV is skipping the cold-apply bottleneck entirely by joining a creator agency that already has brand relationships, then treating the first accepted brands as a credibility-building phase rather than a dream-brand search.
Who This Is For
Read if. Skip if.
READ IF YOU ARE…
You've just signed up for Trybe (or a similar brand-creator marketplace) and have zero sales or approved brand partnerships yet.
You've applied to brands on your own and are getting ignored or rejected and want to know why.
You're deciding whether a paid creator agency/community is worth it to break into UGC or affiliate creator work.
SKIP IF…
You already have GMV history and approved brands on Trybe — this is specifically a cold-start playbook.
You're looking for TikTok Shop organic/affiliate tactics rather than Trybe's apply-and-get-accepted brand model.
TL;DR
The full version, fast.
A brand-new Trybe creator with zero sales has no leverage, and the hardest part isn't making videos, it's getting brands to accept you into their program at all. Cold-applying works but is a numbers game (expect maybe 5 responses per 100 applications), so the faster route is joining a creator agency that already has brand relationships and can add you straight to a brand's roster. Once in, don't chase your dream brand first, just make good videos for whoever accepts you to push past $1,000 in GMV (roughly 10% commission, so not much actual revenue needed). That $1,000 threshold is the point Trybe starts showing your GMV publicly, which is when better brands start inviting you instead of the other way around.

02 · The problem: zero sales, zero leverage
A creator with no GMV history has no leverage; the hardest part isn't making content, it's getting brands to accept you into their program at all.
02:47 – 04:29
03 · Step 1: volume or agencies
Cold-applying to brands is a pure numbers game (maybe 5 responses per 100 applications). Joining a creator agency skips the queue by adding you straight to a brand's roster.
04:29 – 06:51
04 · Step 2: maximize the first batch
Don't chase ideal brand fit yet, make good videos for whoever accepts you to push toward $1,000+ GMV; commission is roughly 10%, so the real revenue bar is low.
06:51 – 09:09
05 · Step 3: leverage the GMV threshold
Crossing the 1K+ GMV mark is when brands start inviting creators instead of requiring applications. Closes on the mindset that most people quit around 50 applications.
Atomic Insights
Lines worth screenshotting.
On Trybe, a creator profile with zero sales has no leverage, brands can see your GMV history and will favor creators who already have some.
Applying cold to brands on Trybe is a volume game: expect to hear back from roughly 5 out of every 100 brands you apply to.
Creator agencies solve the cold-apply bottleneck by adding you directly to a brand's roster, skipping the queue of creators applying one at a time.
Some brands working through agencies have no minimum video count or sales requirement, which makes them the easiest entry point for a brand-new creator.
Most brands pay around a 10% commission on GMV, so hitting the $1,000 GMV threshold doesn't require anywhere near $1,000 in actual earnings to achieve.
Trybe displays a '1K+' GMV badge on creator profiles, and crossing that threshold is the point brands start sending invites instead of requiring applications.
The first few brands a creator works with on Trybe are a credibility-building phase, not a brand-fit decision, chase traction first and pick brands later.
Most people quit around 50 brand applications; pushing past a couple hundred is what separates creators who break in from those who give up.
Takeaway
Zero sales means zero leverage, so skip the apply queue
WHAT TO LEARN
On a gated brand-creator marketplace, the fastest way past the zero-history wall is joining a group that already has access, not applying harder on your own.
A profile with no sales history has no leverage: brands can see you have zero GMV and will pick creators who already have some over you.
Cold-applying to brands one at a time is a volume game, expect to hear back from only a handful out of every hundred applications.
Joining an agency or community with existing brand relationships can get you added straight to a roster, skipping the queue entirely.
Don't hold out for your ideal brand on the first batch, the goal early on is traction and GMV, not brand fit.
A platform's visible sales threshold (here, $1,000+ GMV) is often the real unlock, brands start inviting you once you cross it instead of you having to ask.
Most people quit a few dozen applications in; the creators who break through are the ones who keep going past that point.
Glossary
Terms worth knowing.
Trybe
A platform that connects brands with creators for sponsored UGC and affiliate-style video content, similar in structure to TikTok Shop's creator program.
GMV
Gross Merchandise Value, the total dollar amount of sales a creator's videos have driven for a brand. Creators typically earn a commission (often around 10%) on their own GMV.
Creator agency
A third-party group that has standing relationships with brands and can add individual creators directly to a brand's approved roster, bypassing the brand's normal application process.
Creator roster
The list of creators a brand has approved to make sponsored content for them. Getting added to a roster, whether by applying directly or through an agency, is the gate a new creator has to pass to start earning.

All right, what's going on, everybody? In today's video here, it's gonna be a quick one, just very straight to the point, three actionable steps, really just what I would do to make $1 ,000, your first $1 ,000 on Tribe, as fast as possible, all right? Because that first 1 ,000, the first 1 ,000 is gonna be the hardest, for sure, but there's some things that you can do to give yourself at least a better shot at making it happen quickly, as opposed to wasting a lot of time.
um just you know trying to find brands to work with making videos that never run his ads this is really going to be the uh the flow that i followed and what i would recommend doing to make this first thousand dollars as soon as possible right as i'm filming this it is october 5th so we are in q4 so you definitely want to be doing things as fast as possible here to get in with brands get ads live and start making money um because brands are going to be spending a lot of money in q4 and there's a lot of money to be made here on Tribe, right?
But here we got, it's very simple here. We have the problem and the solution. The problem here is that if you're just getting started and you have zero sales on the platform, you're just not gonna have any leverage.
And honestly, the hardest part is gonna be just getting brands to even accept you into their program in the first place. There's no barrier to entry. Anybody can join Tribe and start applying to work with brands.
But the hardest part is that you have to actually apply to work with the brands. Like you can't, Like on TikTok shop, you can't just get a product to then make videos and automatically, you know, post those videos and start making money from them.
You have to apply to join these programs. They have to accept you. Then you can start making videos for them.
So this is going to be more geared towards like, how do you take, how do, first of all, how do you get into a couple of brands? Then how do you make the most out of those initial, like first batch, like the really just a testing phase here. How do you extract as much?
is possible and give yourself the most opportunity when you're working with like a small group of brands. So this is kind of the main problem. You just don't have any leverage and brands can see your profile and see that there's zero dollars in sales.
So they're probably going to accept anybody with sales like before you and they might not even see yours. I don't know if it gets like ranked by GMB on the brand side. Like the reality is, is that you could, you could apply to work with like a hundred brands and maybe hear back from like five right like only a couple and maybe those brands aren't even really running ads and maybe they're not launching your videos really the only thing that i know of that you could do is either go super high volume like literally apply to hundreds of brands and just like organically reach out send them messages trying to get them to see your message and just accept you into the program and it's just going to be a volume game right like that's that's what i did i initially applied to a couple hundred brands to really not get that much back what i would do and what i ended up doing is to just join agencies so the way that agencies operate here on tribe brands can come to the agency and be like hey we you know want to work together we want access to your creator roster but then the agency can just plug creators into that brand so they don't have to go through like the standard um they might have like some requirements some of the brands for like
you know you got to submit x amount of videos to to be put in but basically when a brand is working with an agency the agency can then add you to the brand's creator roster so instead of just like being one out of a thousand creators that requested to work with a brand if you fit whatever their criteria is some of them don't even have like a minimum amount of videos posted or anything you can just get in but at least this way you can kind of skip over the uh the part where you're just applying to work with all these brands.
And I'll throw one down in the description that I'm in that I would recommend joining a community and agency. And this way you can just go in and you can just, whatever brands that they have on their roster, I would just apply to get in with them, right? Because that's going to be the easiest way to get your foot in the door with these brands.
A few different agencies, but they're all going to have like different brands that they're working with. i would literally just go in and whatever brands that they have available whatever opportunities i would join them and just try to make the most out of like those first five brands that you're able to get in with you can either apply to a couple hundred brands you could join agencies and kind of get plugged in with the brands that they're working with so at least you can start creating content and hopefully start to see some momentum build and traction with the videos that you create.
Second step here is really more just, okay, now we have a couple brands where we can make videos for them. I just need to get to like $1 ,000 plus in GMB, which isn't even that much because the brands, it's not $1 ,000 profit for you. It'd be like most brands offer like 10 % commission or so.
So it really, you don't even have to generate that much GMB. Really just do whatever you can. to make good videos for those brands then once those videos start to drive sales then you're going to actually start to get some leverage right because you're going to have some gmv on your profile that you can showcase and this kind of moves into step three here where you can be a little more strategic and have some leverage like the first couple brands that you work with you might not even want to work with them honestly like you might you might just be like well it's not something that i can see myself like killing it with and there's also a chance that even if you don't think that you still could beginning you really just have to make the most out of whatever opportunity is there and it's really just like how tribe is designed here like you have to apply to work with brands so if you don't have anything you can really leverage initially like you're not gonna have just like your pick at whatever brand you want to work with so you kind of have to just get in there like i always say and just get dirty from the brand side you're also able to see
which brands that creators have worked with in the past. So like if you literally just have no sales, no brands worked with in the past, it's going to be very tough to get into programs and just into programs, especially those that you would want to join. So you kind of just have to just get in there and really just work with whoever you can, right?
So I would just recommend working with whatever brands that these agencies have available because they can help get you in the door here because that's going to be the hardest part initially. Like if you've already... If you guys are in the kind of phase of you've signed up to Tribe, you're applying to brands, maybe you've applied to like 30, 40, 50, haven't heard anything, like that's kind of just how it is.
Like you'll probably have to apply to a couple hundred to get like some actual brands to accept you. But this is what I did. Like I literally just went in and whatever brands I could find that I could get added to, I would just start making videos for them.
Try to get some sales up on the board. And then once you do have some sales, it'll be easier. to go out and apply to work with brands that you want to work with and some brands will actually like send invites to invite you to work with them because a lot of time they can just like filter by gmv and just go in and you know start inviting creators but the hardest part is just one getting in the door with these brands and then getting like that first thousand dollars i think that's the first threshold where like tribe shows something is a thousand dollars Where it says like creator GMV.
I think it's 1k plus. And who knows you might even find brands with this like initial first batch. Where you're kind of just making videos because you have to.
But then you're like shit maybe like something does take off. And you do find like a brand or an angle that works for you. This is kind of how I see it.
This is exactly what I did. Because I was like shit I'm applying to hundreds of brands. i'm not getting like even the brands that you would get in with like i got into a couple i made a bunch of videos and they didn't even launch the videos is ads like they i don't know this is really like the the three -step flow that i would use and again like the first thousand dollars that is going to be the hardest little threshold to hit so just know that because most people are just going to apply to like 50 brands then be like this sucks screw this i'm not i'm done with this like i can't even get in how am i supposed to make any money work your way around those people right you can just dig dig a little deeper than them you know go a little further this is what i would recommend doing it's like yeah some agencies are going to cost you money but it's just for sure the quickest way to get in there and especially like a lot of times these brands that are working with agencies they are like really big brands that have a massive budget and they like are the brands that you you'd want to be working with
anyway even if the brands are brands that you don't necessarily want to make videos for or can see yourself making videos for in the future you're just there to try to get some traction like just have one video generate some sales where then you can be like okay now now you're starting to build up the uh the credibility on your tribe account yeah quick video just just keeping it straight that's what i would do because a lot of people are probably just getting stuck in this first phase here where they're like dude i can't even get a fucking brand to accept me to work with them anyways that's it for this video get out there get a little scrappy see you guys in the next video peace
