Big Idea
The argument in one line.
Doing more keeps your attention stuck in noisy mental patterns, while becoming still lets awareness widen so you gain clarity, creative ideas and a fuller experience of life.
Who This Is For
Read if. Skip if.
READ IF YOU ARE…
You wake up already overwhelmed by your to-do list and feel like the harder you push, the further you drift from what you want.
You have tried meditation before, quit, and want a reason and a simple way to restart a morning stillness habit.
You create things or run a business and want to understand why your best ideas show up in the shower, not at the desk.
You are open to a spiritual framing (God, source, the subconscious, the law of attraction) as the lens for a mindfulness practice.
SKIP IF…
You want evidence-based neuroscience or study citations; the brain claims here are brief and the framing is openly spiritual.
You are uncomfortable with religious language, scripture references and law-of-attraction ideas, which carry much of the argument.
You want a structured meditation technique; the how-to is about a minute at the very end.
TL;DR
The full version, fast.
Katie Clarke says the biggest changes in her life came from becoming more still, not from more discipline. She gives three effects. Stillness gives clarity, because awareness moves from narrow content to the wider context, which is how two weeks of morning meditation showed her she could leave a bad relationship. It unlocks creativity, because ideas arrive when you switch from doing mode to being mode, and acting on them is flow. It makes life beautiful, because a regulated mind perceives more good around it. Her practice is to sit quietly before touching your phone, starting with 10 minutes.

Atomic Insights
Lines worth screenshotting.
When you are caught up in doing, you focus on content, a tiny slice of reality, and miss the wider context where the solutions sit.
A mind in constant motion is a shaken snow globe: you cannot see clearly until you stop moving and let the snow settle.
Seeing a barking dog as 'bad' is content thinking; seeing an overwhelmed animal you can help is context thinking.
Ending the day with 'I'm lazy' is content; noticing the task list was too long for the time you had is context, and it is fixable.
Nothing in Katie's circumstances changed during her first two weeks of morning meditation, only her perception, and that was enough to see the exit.
Ideas that arrive in the shower are the brain switching from task mode to default mode, the same switch stillness makes on purpose.
You do not need to do more, you need to be still enough to know what is worth doing.
Her loop is stillness, then an insight, then action on it; she says speeding up is when the ego hijacks the flow.
Sitting down in silence first floods you with everything your brain needs to process, so the first minutes feel noisy, not calm.
The practice is to notice you are thinking, accept it, and bring awareness back to the body, again and again.
After 30 minutes of silence the same terrace looked completely different to her, though the scene itself had not changed.
Being surrounded by everything you wanted means little if you are too dysregulated to perceive it.
Takeaway
Stop pushing and sit still first.
WHAT TO LEARN
When your mind never stops moving you see only one slice of a problem, and a daily stretch of silence is what widens your view enough to find the way out.
Notice whether you are fixed on the content (one thought or event) or the context. Widening to the context turns 'I'm lazy' into 'my list was too long for today'.
A mind that is always moving cannot see clearly, so stopping first lets the noise settle before you decide anything about a relationship, job or plan.
When you are stuck on a problem, step away and relax instead of forcing it; the answer often arrives once you leave task mode.
Use stillness to choose what is worth doing, then act on it, rather than speeding up and letting the ego pick the goal.
Expect the first minutes of silence to feel noisy and uncomfortable; the job is to observe, accept, and keep returning awareness to the body.
Being still enough to actually perceive what you already have is worth as much as getting more of it.
Start small and before the phone: ten quiet minutes first thing in the morning, then remove complexity during the day by doing one thing at a time.
Glossary
Terms worth knowing.
Content vs context
Content is the single thought or problem your attention is stuck on. Context is the wider picture around it, which is where explanations and solutions usually show up.
Doing mode
A task-focused, externally directed state where you are busy executing. She links it to survival-mode stress when it never switches off.
Default mode network
A brain network active when you are not focused on an outside task. She contrasts it with the central executive network used for effortful tasks.
Parasympathetic state
The calm side of the nervous system that takes over when the body registers it is safe, slowing brainwaves and allowing rest.
Ego self
Her term for the identity built from familiar thought patterns and the outside world, which she says pulls you back into noise and problem-solving.
Flow state
In her usage, acting easily on an insight received in stillness, before the ego speeds things up and takes over.

You wake up thinking about everything you need to do, everything you haven't done yet, all the ways that you're falling short, you're overwhelmed two seconds into the day, then you run around at the whim of your emotions, of your mind, of your distractions, of your impulses, never feeling like you're doing enough no matter how much you do.
And it seems like the more that you do, the further away you get from where you really need to go. And you're trying to become this version of you who has this next level of Meanwhile, you're missing out on the beauty that may be right in front of you in the present moment in your life.
And it feels like no matter how hard you try, things just don't really seem to be changing and you're not getting any happier, any more peaceful, any more confident, any more fulfilled. What if I told you I could give you a magic pill? that could reduce the unhappy, unhelpful, chaotic, negative noise in your head by like 80 % at least.
And this magic pill could also increase feelings of peace, clarity, contentment, big picture thinking, connectedness, could connect you to opportunities, solutions, beauty in the world around you. I have that magic pill. I'm going to be sharing it with you today, but it's not what you think.
The biggest transformations in my life haven't come from doing more, working harder, forcing more discipline. They've actually originated from becoming more still. So today I'm going to share with you three ways that stillness can impact your life.
From the way that you even perceive reality, to the way that you create, to how deeply you experience being alive. Point number one, stillness gives you clarity. And in a world of chaos, clarity is like gold dust.
When you're operating from a lack of clarity, nothing feels right. Everything feels like it needs fixing. Everything feels like a problem.
Everything is confusing. And it's very difficult to build momentum that's going to bring you into positive alignment in your life, in a fulfilling direction. So when I first learned about stillness giving clarity, it was back in 2023.
I was living in London. And I had a marketing agency at the time that I just started. If you could even call it an agency, I had a few clients.
I was struggling financially, to be honest. I was living in an apartment. I was in an unhealthy relationship.
I felt very misaligned with being in London. I kind of just moved there for the relationship. I had no connections there.
I had no friends there. And I was pretty unfulfilled in the work I was doing. You could say that I was pretty lost at this point in my life.
I was heading, hurtling towards a rock bottom. So at that time I was in my era of doing, doing, doing, doing, doing. It seemed like I was so busy all the time doing so many things.
but doing all the things in the wrong direction. Why? Because I had no clarity.
I couldn't see where I was going. It was like frantically driving the car, but the car was covered in like muck and mud and I couldn't see a thing. So I wasn't getting anywhere meaningful.
And this is a lot of people. When you're disconnected from yourself, which comes from never making time for stillness and presence within yourself, you end up just being in doing mode constantly.
And that is a great mode to be in, but not all the time because there's certain things that you do that are not actually getting you anywhere. They're just draining your life force and draining your energy. But not only that, because I was so frantic, I was moving all the time.
I became more and more disconnected from myself and I got polarized more and more into my ego into these narratives of the mind and this noise of the mind because the mind noise gets turned up to level a thousand when you're moving so fast all the time and you never slow down and you're dysregulated so I couldn't perceive a way out of the situation I thought this was just the way that it was going to be.
I couldn't perceive how unhealthy that relationship is or how there would be another option for me or that I could even leave that relationship. I had limiting perspectives and limiting narratives about every single area of my life. So it just kept me in this loop for quite a while.
And what I started to do is I started to meditate. So I meditated, I was introduced to meditation in 2020, 2021. Did it consistently and then I gave up on it.
At this time, a little voice in my head said, you need to do something because you're not in a good situation here. It was bad, you guys. Like I was like crying every day.
Like it was, it was a low point. So I started to get up early before my then partner. And carve out that space and time to sit in meditation.
And within two weeks of sitting in that stillness. And of just letting that mind noise finally calm down. And letting my awareness come away from all of that noise consistently for two weeks.
I started to get clarity.
I started to realize that all these narratives of the mind were just distorted stories that my ego had become attached to telling me, but they weren't the full picture. So when you become still, your awareness shifts out of the same old neural pathways that it's become familiar with. And it can stop focusing on content, which is a tiny portion of reality.
And awareness can come out of the limited content and into the wider context. That is one of the greatest gifts that integrating stillness into your life can give you. And that's what happened to me that day.
My awareness came away from these narrative, these stories, these repetitive patterns. And I suddenly realized. I can leave this relationship I deserve better I can do better I can be okay if I leave this relationship and not only that I started to get a vision to move to Spain I started to get a vision that I would love to help people with mindset and healing and self -development All of that came from me sitting in stillness long enough that my awareness, my nervous system could regulate.
So my awareness could come out of the noise of the mind and the noisy habitual thought patterns and into my body and into the present moment. Nothing externally had changed in my reality, but my perception had changed because I gave the space for my awareness to move away from the old perception that it was attached to.
So I want you to almost think of it like you are an unlimited being, okay? You have this really potent, powerful, creative consciousness. That is you, that's your essence.
And you cast that consciousness through your awareness, through what your awareness is on. What happens is we end up getting conditioned and our awareness ends up getting stuck in particular patterns. And then we start to identify with those patterns as the ego self.
And we start to think that that's all that is. So we become overly consumed with parts of the whole thinking it's the whole. And then we end up severely limiting ourselves.
And we end up with a perception of reality that is distorted. Because it's disconnected from the wholeness and the truth of reality from the big picture. So I'm going to give you some really like simple examples of this.
And this is all connected, by the way. So you're going to hear me like bouncing back and forth. But when you are in this doing, rushing, executing, like.
grind mode overriding your need for rest for stillness for regulation you become dysregulated you enter survival mode your brain is not able to switch between the two different modes so you have like a central executive network and then you have a default mode network so you constantly stay in doing doing doing mode task mode you're never able to come out of that and when you're in that doing doing doing externally focused mode you're also typically in the ego self and the ego self rather than you being in the ego self like you're at the whim of the ego self so it's a very it's a state where you feel like you are out of control really the mind is just running these stories that don't represent the full truth and the way that this can look so let's say for example you are in this doing doing chaotic mode And your dog starts barking.
This is a personal example as well. Your dog starts barking. And because you're in this reactive state, you perceive the dog barking and you say, that dog is barking.
It's really loud. It's really annoying. It's a bad dog.
That dog is misbehaving. That's looking at content, okay? Whereas if you were in a more regulated, grounded state, and you were perceiving the context, you might see the dog is barking.
They must be having an emotionally overwhelming experience. How can I help them reduce the overwhelm? You're able to see the truth full picture of the situation in front of you rather than honing in on one aspect of it that's in alignment with whatever state you're in.
Another example of focusing on the content versus the context and why it is so powerful to be able to connect to the context and the big picture. Let's say you get to the end of the day and you say, oh, I didn't finish my tasks. If you are at the whim of the mind.
And you don't have context. So you're just focusing on, I didn't finish my tasks. You won't be able to see the big picture.
So you'll just say, I'm lazy. I need more discipline. What's wrong with me?
I'm never going to reach my goals. Negative narrative, negative state. You stay in a limiting loop.
That's not going to help you progress. If you're able to look at the context, you could say, I didn't finish my tasks today. I wonder why that is.
Oh, look at that. I made the list of tasks too long for the actual amount of time that I had. So let me change something here so it's actually doable for me.
Do you see how it's incredibly life -changing to be connected to the context, the full picture? That is what gives you clarity. And I can't tell you how much.
being in a state of illusion just because of the attachment of the mind to particular thoughts and ideas, I can't tell you how much that state is causing you unnecessary suffering. So you cannot see clearly through a mind that's always moving. It's like a snow globe, okay?
If you're moving constantly, it's all shook up, the snow is everywhere, you can't see. But when you become still, Literally, this is what happens in your brain.
The snow settles. Your brain can actually process everything that's gone on. And then your awareness is able to come out of fixing doing mode and into that more expanded state where you're able to access the big picture.
You're able to finally perceive things beyond problems or stressors or worries. You're able to finally perceive solutions, the truth of whatever the situation is. So this is incredibly powerful because you could be running a narrative that is so limiting like I was for so long.
And it's like you are just focusing on this one little piece when all of these solutions, all of these opportunities are right there waiting for you to become still so your awareness can come out of this and see everything else that's in existence. That is clarity. And that is powerful.
Okay, point number two. Stillness unlocks your creative power. Be still and know that I am God.
That's an interesting verse. What do we know about God? How is God described?
The first thing we learn about God is that he is a creative God. And we also see in scripture, the kingdom is within you. It's within every one of us.
And so in becoming still, we access the kingdom. Ergo, we access the creative potential that's laying dormant within each and every one of us. Every single thing that I have created did not come from me.
It did not come from the noise of my mind. It did not come from. executing a perfect to -do list that I just came up with because I watched a YouTube video on discipline.
No. Every single creation and idea in my life came from the stillness. And I almost conceptualized the stillness as the womb space.
Think of... okay we're thinking about creation if you want to create something in this life think about this you do you want to create something meaningful anything meaningful and that doesn't need to be content or something tangible you could be creating a particular kind of dynamic you could be creating a particular type of experience you are a creator being you were born to create something in your experience okay it's your nature because man was created in god's image and god is a creative being so Think of physical creation of a human being.
The human being comes from the void space of the womb, the stillness, the vastness, the nothingness of the womb space. That's what stillness is. It's reconnecting to the vast womb of source, of God, of the universe, of infinite intelligence.
Because what happens when you become still? How can you know that? You have God consciousness within you and you become still.
You're taking your awareness off of form and you're putting it on the formless. You're taking your awareness off creation and you're putting it on pre -creation. You're essentially, this is such a weird example, you're essentially going from looking at the newborn baby or the human being to being inside the womb space.
So you're going from looking at the world to being in the womb of the world. That's where you go when you go into stillness. And you guys know that this is true.
I mean, if we look at Einstein, and there's a whole list of some of the most intelligent inventors, successful people, creators to live throughout history, they all had spaces of time where they would sit in stillness. Some would meditate, some would call it contemplation or thinking time. But it's a common denominator.
That people throughout history will receive the insights, the awareness, the ideas, not when they're doing, doing, doing, trying to get them, but when they're in a state of being, which is what stillness directly puts you into.
you can think about this tangibly for a second are you ever trying to figure something out and you're really trying to like fix something or resolve something and you're putting a lot of effort and intention into doing that and as soon as you stop doing that and you go and you do something else so let's say you take a long shower and you finally relax all of a sudden the solution is there yeah That partly could have come from you because when you switch out of doing mode and into being mode, you switch, literally you switch the networks in the brain that you're using and you're able to access parts of your subconscious, parts of your memory that you're not able to access when you're in doing mode.
So that's amazing. But you also tap into your subconscious mind. When you relax, when you become still, your nervous system finally registers that you're safe.
That it doesn't need to keep staying on the guard on your environment because you're closing your eyes and you're becoming inwardly focused. So you shift into a parasympathetic nervous system state. When that happens, your brainwaves slow down and your awareness comes out of your thinking, thinking, doing, doing mind and into your subconscious present moment void state mind.
And in your subconscious mind, you are connected to everything. You are connected to infinite possibilities. Florence Govel Shin speaks about the subconscious mind being the portal between the conscious mind and the super conscious mind.
The super conscious mind is the divine intelligence that created this entire universe. So the more time you spend in stillness, the more time you spend in that subconscious mind, the more you're going to access the billion dollar ideas, the solutions, the perspectives, the awareness. that are already existing in that field of infinite possibilities.
You just have to bring your awareness into the field in order to actually start resonating and receiving them. I can't tell you guys how many times, and this is why I wanted to make a video directly about this, how many times I've over -polarized into doing, forcing, trying to logic, trying to figure it out, and you end up, the mind ends up creating more complexity with man, the limited logic of man, this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible.
So you start to cap yourself thinking like a man or thinking like a human, using your logic and your intellect and just staying there. When you become still, you're connecting to the intelligence of the divine, the intelligence of God, and there, there is a solution for everything. There is the full truth, the full perspective and the full realm of possibilities.
So I can't tell you how many times I've tried to be in this forcing mode, figuring it out myself. And I finally let something go. And I'm sitting in a meditation.
I'm sitting in silence and bing, it drops in. Oh, it's that easy. Oh, it was that simple.
Okay, then. I remember there was a short period of time where I got away from stillness and I was kind of moving, moving, moving a little bit too much. I started to get a little bit burnt out, a little bit crispy.
For me, this is kind of how it happens. I go to the stillness, I get an insight and then I act on that insight, which is flow state. That is flow state.
When you slow down enough to access the flow, then action becomes easy. But what can happen then is you start to speed up your ego. Ego can start to hijack your flow and then you come out of flow and then it becomes limited and it becomes ego.
So this happened to me around last year and I started pursuing this idea that was like a little bit of a misaligned idea, but I couldn't see it at the time because the ego was so sneaky, but it just didn't feel good. Like it felt fine. It felt flat.
It kind of felt like an obligation.
i was forcing this thing for so long and then one day i finally sat down and i sat in stillness for a while and i spent like i actually spent a period like a week in a more reflective state bringing in more stillness more meditation more reflection and i realized that i wanted to do something totally different and it felt so much better because it was coming from that expansive creative place within me that already knows what my most aligned creations are not from my ego that's trying to create for other reasons.
So you don't need to do more you just need to become still enough to know what's worth doing. Stillness can quantum shift you because rather than doing more doing more doing more and taking a lot of action, but getting limited on where that action can take you.
It's able to connect you to different actions, different ideas that can align you with very different results. Because you're stepping outside of the parameters, the limitations of the ego, you're stepping into the infinite supply that's available to you. And when you act on that, then you're opening up the doors to a whole different experience in your reality point number three stillness makes life beautiful and it makes you magnetic because those two things kind of go hand in hand this week I was reminded of the importance of stillness because lived experience I became a little bit dysregulated this week and I woke up one morning I've just had a really busy few weeks but I woke up a couple of days ago And I think I had some stressful dreams or something, but I woke up stressed and I woke up thinking about everything I needed to do, everything I haven't done.
There was like the weight of the world on my shoulders. I was like overwhelmed, already had decision fatigue, trying to figure out my day. And it was the last thing I wanted to do, but I knew, hey, you need to slow down your mind.
You've opened your eyes. You're still in the bed, but your mind has already left the building. No, we do not allow our minds to do that.
We take control of our minds before our mind can control us so that we can enter the day in the most empowered state. And it was the last thing I wanted to do, but I got myself by the hand and I put myself outside and I sat down on my yoga mat.
So it's literally my Pinterest board from five years ago. And I have a gorgeous little terrace outside my office here. And I went out to that terrace and like, it's literally picturesque out there.
It's beautiful. I live in Spain. There's palm trees.
It's amazing. But because I was in that dysregulated chaotic mind state, I went out there. All I, I couldn't see any of it.
My perception, my experience was just so limited and narrow. All I could think was, oh, I'm kind of cold. I need to just get this done.
So I sat down and I ended up sitting in silence for 30 minutes. And. when I say sitting in silence it was the noise of my mind because I had a lot to process when you sit down you finally sit in silence your brain is going to throw everything at you that it needs you to process and that it just it doesn't need you to do anything actually it just needs you to observe and accept and allow so that it can go through this like mental filing process so my brain had to do its filing my brain had to do its filing thing and I hadn't let it do its filing thing in a while so it had a lot to file because there was a lot happening And it just felt like so much noise, so much chaos.
It was really uncomfortable. I just stayed present through it all. And this is how you do it.
I'm going to tell you at the end, like how to do it, but this is basically it. You stay present. You accept and allow whatever's coming up, whatever thoughts.
Oh, I see that I'm thinking about that thing again. Okay. And when you're ready, you bring your awareness back into the body, back into the moment.
And then your awareness will go again and you let it do what it's saying. And then you bring it back. And you can also be aware of the sensations and emotions in your body.
I did that for 30 minutes. I had very short little moments of like present moment awareness and clear mind and stillness. But when I opened my eyes after 30 minutes, it was like I opened my eyes to a different world.
I could feel the sun on my skin. I could feel the wind cooling my ears and my nose. I could hear the birds tweeting.
I could hear the leaves rustling. I could see the lake and the sun hitting the water in the lake. I could see the way that the clouds were hugging the mountain.
And I could just see the divinity and the beauty in everything. It looked the exact same, objectively. As when I walked out there.
So the outside world didn't change. My inner world changed. And then the amount of beauty, the amount of good, the amount of harmony, the amount of light that I was able to perceive in the external world changed.
There's a deep reason for this.
Connecting to the stillness connects you with God. God is light. The more you become still, the more light you become internally, the more light you can perceive externally.
So just in general, when you enter a higher state of consciousness, a higher state of awareness, which is what stillness does, it has a harmonizing effect. It has a beautifying effect. And as well as that, it has a magnetizing effect.
Because when you're so present and grounded and perceiving the good, the beauty in the world, you only get more of what you are, okay? So because you're feeling connected to the light, connected to the beauty, the good, the magic, the miracles, you get more of that. It's the law of resonance, the law of attraction.
As within, so without. So when you stop... Tangling your awareness up in fear, urgency, distractions, to -do lists.
It naturally returns home into the light. And then when you go out into the world, you're in an energetic frequency that corresponds with that same light. So you become very magnetic to the flow, to the goods, to the blessings, to the miracles that were always right there in front of you.
You were just not in the right frequency to perceive them. And this point is probably the most important point because you could have everything you've ever wanted physically, tangibly. You could be in paradise.
Like I am living in my vision board right now. But if you're not present enough to actually experience it and perceive it, what's the point? So how can you apply this?
Okay. My best tip. is the first thing in the morning before the world can program you before your mind can run away with you and get tied up in distractions take yourself to a quiet space shut your eyes and become still that's it the other thing that you can do is incorporate more stillness throughout your day so just remove complexity don't turn the radio on in the car Don't do five things at once.
Do one thing at a time. Don't be surprised if you feel a lot of discomfort and resistance when you first start to do this. That's your ego kicking and screaming because your ego is the world self.
It's the self that's created by the world. So it wants to be in the world, thinking of the world, solving things. It wants to be caught up in your familiar thought patterns.
But you are not just your ego. You are a divine creative being and you can only remember that when you let go of all the noise and come back to who you really are. So stillness helps you to see clearly and step out of distortions.
It helps you to create in a more expanded unlimited way and perhaps most importantly it helps you to experience life more fully. Tomorrow morning, before you go on your phone, before you allow the world to start programming you, sit in silence for 10 minutes. Come and comment down below when you do.
You will thank yourself, I promise you. Thank you so much for watching. I'm sending you so much love.
Please remember you have everything you need within you to create the life of your dreams. You just have to let go of all the noise and tune back into yourself. I say that on every video if you didn't know, but this video was all about that.
I'll see you guys next week.
