Big Idea

The argument in one line.

Ad accounts fail not from inexperience but from missing decision systems, and the fix is a programming-style if-this-then-that framework built on a financial model of the funnel.

Who This Is For

Read if. Skip if.

READ IF YOU ARE…
  • A paid ads buyer or media buyer who makes decisions by gut feel ('I think this will work') instead of a documented framework.
  • A founder or agency owner scaling past six figures in monthly ad spend who still can't explain why a specific campaign broke.
  • Anyone building sales or marketing systems who wants a transferable model for routing problems to root causes.
SKIP IF…
  • You're looking for specific ad platform tactics like creative angles or bidding strategies — this is about the decision process, not the tactics.
  • You've never run paid ads before and have no funnel data yet to build a financial model from.
TL;DR

The full version, fast.

The creator argues that ad accounts break down not because advertisers lack skill, but because they never built a decision-making system. People get reinforced for skipping systems: organic traction, early luck, or raw sales talent let them scale without one, until the gaps show up at higher spend. The fix borrows an if-this-then-that structure from programming, and from how CIA interrogators and pickup artists steer conversations: each decision produces an outcome, and the outcome determines the next decision. Applied to ads, that means financially modeling the whole funnel (ad spend, CPM, CTR, show rate, close rate, collection rate), flagging which metrics are red, then routing every red metric into one of three buckets, ad account, funnel, or sales team, before making a single change.

01 · The real problem behind "my ad stopped working"

Even an advertiser spending $150,000 a month profitably has the same decision-making gap as someone spending $3,000, proof the problem isn't raw experience.

02 · Why creators get reinforced for having no systems

Organic reach, early luck on a paid campaign, or raw sales talent all let people scale without ever building a system, until the gaps surface at higher spend.

04 · The if-this-then-that logic, borrowed from CIA interrogation trees

Programming-style conditional logic, decision leads to outcome, outcome dictates the next decision, is how CIA operatives and pickup artists steer conversations, and it maps directly onto ad accounts.

Atomic Insights

Lines worth screenshotting.

  • Advertisers spending $150,000 a month can have the exact same decision-making gaps as advertisers spending $3,000 a month.
  • A strong organic following lets you skip building systems entirely, since viewers who've watched for months will buy without ever asking what you sell.
  • Early luck on a paid ad campaign teaches founders the wrong lesson: that they can scale spend without ever building a decision framework.
  • Being a great closer hides the same gap, because a good enough salesperson can close deals that a broken funnel should have lost.
  • Any sentence that starts with 'I think this would do well' is proof you're making decisions by guesswork, not by data.
  • CIA interrogators and pickup artists both use an if-this-then-that conversation tree: each answer narrows down which question comes next until they land on the one they're after.
  • Paid advertising works the same way: each decision produces an outcome, and that outcome determines the next decision, a tree instead of a guess.
  • Before making any ad account decision, you need a financial model listing every funnel metric and what the target for that metric needs to be.
  • Once you know your targets, every metric becomes a simple green-or-red flag, which tells you exactly where to look next.
  • Every advertising problem routes into one of three buckets: the ad account, the funnel, or the sales team, worked in that order.
  • A VSL's play rate tanked for one client because ad spend had silently shifted to a junk feed placement, a problem invisible unless you check spend distribution specifically.
  • Most advertisers stare at top-line objective data when a campaign breaks and never dig into where the spend itself is actually going.
Takeaway

A Decision System Beats Guessing at Ads

WHAT TO LEARN

Most ad accounts break down because nobody built a decision system, not because the advertiser lacks skill, and the fix is a financially modeled if-this-then-that framework.

01The real problem behind "my ad stopped working"
  • An advertiser spending $150,000 a month profitably can have the same decision-making gap as one spending $3,000, because the gap is about process, not raw experience.
  • A successful business doesn't prove you have working systems, it just means nobody has stress-tested your decision-making yet.
02Why creators get reinforced for having no systems
  • A strong organic following lets you skip building any system at all, since a warmed-up audience will buy without you ever pitching them.
  • Catching early wins with a new paid campaign teaches you the wrong lesson: that you can keep scaling spend without ever building a framework to explain why it worked.
  • Being a naturally strong closer hides the same gap, because good sales skill papers over a funnel or ad account that's actually broken.
03Guessing is the tell: "I think" means you have a problem
  • Without a system you're guessing, and guessing at $150,000 a month in spend is exactly as risky as guessing at $3,000.
  • Any sentence that starts with 'I think this would do well' or 'I think I need to make this change' is proof you're making decisions without data.
04The if-this-then-that logic, borrowed from CIA interrogation trees
  • Programming's conditional logic, if this happens, do this thing, produces consistent outputs precisely because it removes guessing from the decision.
  • CIA interrogators and pickup artists both run the same structure: each answer narrows which question comes next, until the conversation lands on the answer they wanted.
  • Paid advertising works the same way: each decision produces an outcome, and that outcome determines which decision comes next, a tree instead of a hunch.
05Build the financial model first
  • Before making any ad decision, map every funnel metric, ad spend, CPM, CTR, show rate, close rate, collection rate, and write down what each one needs to be.
  • Once targets are set, each metric becomes a simple green or red flag, which tells you exactly where the problem lives without having to guess.
06Three places to look: ad account, funnel, sales team
  • Every red metric routes into exactly one of three buckets, ad account, funnel, or sales team, worked in that order, so troubleshooting never becomes scattershot.
  • A contraction in click-through rate is specifically an ad account problem, which tells you exactly which bucket's decision tree to walk next.
07Case study: a VSL play-rate crash traced to spend distribution
  • A client's VSL play rate tanked because ad spend had silently shifted onto a single junk feed placement, invisible in the top-line numbers.
  • Most advertisers stare at objective performance data when something breaks and never dig into where the spend itself actually went, which is why they end up concluding 'could be anything.'

metaphoranalogystory
Over the last week and a half, two weeks, the number one problem I've seen consistently across people I've spoken to personally, DMs, comments, are all about, I don't know why my ad stopped working. And the interesting part is this isn't just an issue with guys that are spending $3 ,000 a month, $10 ,000 a month, but even with guys spending $150 ,000 a month.
I spoke to a guy on Friday of last week, and the video is going to go live this Friday as well, so you guys get to see just in depth what that looks like. He spent $150 ,000 a month, and there's a very clear lack of understanding. with certain aspects of running ads.
Now, obviously this guy built a significant business that a lot of you guys watching this video have not been able to do. So it's not necessarily that he didn't know what the fuck he was doing, but it was more so there were certain aspects of the decision -making process that were missing. And when you understand...
how to view it accordingly, now making decisions becomes a lot easier. And so in this video, we're going to break down the core problem I see in advertisers of pretty much any level. I don't care what level it is, the reason that this occurs and how to go about solving this issue and the step -by -step framework that we use for this.
So number one, what is the core problem? The number one thing I see is that people are reinforced for a lack of systems. Now, what do I mean by this?
There's a couple of ways. ways in which this manifests. Number one, if I ever want an organic presence, I can be lazy as shit and still make a solid bit of coin.
I have got to know nothing. I blew my mind when I took a couple of sales calls and these guys are basically like, yeah, I just want to know what you have to sell me. I've been watching your content for months.
There's a very good chance I buy. And I'm sitting here like, what? That's crazy.
So when you think about that, you realize that, oh, you don't really need systems. You just need to book calls, you'll close deals, you'll make money. And with the high ticket space, you can make a boatload without any real infrastructure.
So you get reinforced for a set of behaviors that are not systems -based. That's the first thing. Number two is in a weird way, you get lucky.
So sometimes you'll run paid ads and you'll catch it immediately. We never tell clients that because it's not the most likely thing in the world, but sometimes you're like, fucking nailed it on day one. If that is the case, you then spend into it and you can continue to spend into it without ever really needing a system.
Now, you may build things along the way, but this is where those gaps come in at the higher levels of spend. Like if I look at the guy who I was talking to the other week, one of the OG followers, spent $150 a month profitably, very profitably. It wasn't like his business was collapsing or anything, like the guy was ripping, but there were just a few key levers and things that he needed to understand in order to be like, oh, okay, got it.
Now it all makes sense. And so that's the other thing is sometimes you get a little bit lucky and you can scale into that. And you're able to build systems along the way, but you miss the foundations behind why stuff isn't working.
And those are like the big two. I'd say the last one is you're just savage at sales. And this is what fucks everybody over is if you have a really good sales team or you yourself are a really good closer as a founder, you never build onboarding processes for your sales rep.
You never understand why stuff's working or not working. You can close a fucking homeless man onto a payment plan because you're good at sales. And so if you're in any of these situations, it's typically why you don't have all of the systems that you need, because if you had them.
or even just the decision -making frameworks, you'd be a lot more effective in scaling and you would know why stuff is working versus isn't working. Whereas when you lack the systems or you lack the decision -making infrastructure, you may be able to push up to a certain level of spend. And then you're sitting there going, I have no fucking idea how I got here, or I have no idea why stuff isn't working.
And so those are like the three big reasons that people struggle with paid ads. And the reason that this is a big issue is because when you don't have systems, you can't make accurate decisions. You're guessing.
If you ever say the words, I think you are... lighting your ad dollars on fire, I guarantee it. And I encourage you to go watch the video I put out last week about testing and the basic framework for establishing control inside of an organization.
If you ever say the words, I think you have this problem. I think this would do well. I think that would do well.
I think I need to make this change. You have a fucking problem. Now, if you're starting from ground zero, yeah, you're going to be making a lot of guesses and hypotheses.
But if you have nothing to go off of and you're just kind of like guessing your way through shit, good luck to you. Not really much I can give you here other than go watch that last video so you can start laying the foundation to make decisions off of because that's the problem. is anytime you're like, I think I need to do this, I know that, or you just don't have a systematic framework for like, look at this and this and this and this and this, that's an issue.
So how do we solve this issue? What I've actually done below is I've dropped the full SOP on how we make decisions and how we audit ad accounts. So grab that first of all.
Second of all, there's going to be a link below where you can book a call to speak to myself or a member of the team about what our consulting and info product side of business looks like. This is where we walk you through our entire decision -making process so you understand A to Z how to be thinking through these things.
So again, grab the SOP and then book the call. That's step one. Number two, I'm going to walk you through the foundations of it in this video so that you have a baseline to go off of.
What you want to basically establish is a if this, then that logic. If you've ever done any type of programming, this is a very important concept to understand.
And it's how computers are able to make very systematic decisions that get consistent outputs. Because it's just, if this happens, do this thing. If that happens, do this thing.
I'll give you another example that's super interesting. One of the routes I went down for a while when just trying to get better at human psychology and all this stuff, I love to domain hop. So I love to look at advertising, obviously, then look at sales, then look at just communication in general, therapists.
And the rabbit hole I went down here was social dynamics, specifically two subsets of people, the CIA and pickup artists. And here's what's really interesting about these two. Every single one of them, their entire conversation is an if this, then that set of steps.
So CIA, for example, when they establish a target before they ever engage, the target. They know question one.
They know from question one, they can get answer one, answer two, answer three. From there, they can ask question two, question three, question four, question five, question six, question seven. And they've got this entire conversation tree that they're able to follow.
And then what happens is they can now take this and they can say, okay, question one, question three. And then eventually they find themselves back. to answer one that they're looking for.
They want a specific answer to a question. And so they follow this, if this, then that logic to get there. And now all of a sudden they've reached the answer they're looking for.
The same is true of paid advertising. Except instead of questions, these are decisions. So in the case of advertising, what happens is decision one leads to outcome one, outcome two, or outcome three.
And then from there, I have another set of decisions I need to make. Decision two, decision three, decision four, decision five, decision six, decision seven. And again, I'm following the same thing of like, okay, this gets me here.
I get this result. So now I need to go this direction. Or maybe I go here.
And this gets me this result. And then this direction. I have a structure for knowing when to do what.
Now, in the advertising space, what this looks like is the following. The first thing you've got to do before making any of these decisions is make sure that you have financially modeled the funnel. You want a financial model.
What this essentially is, is you mapping out every metric and what those metrics need to be. So in this case, we'll just list a couple. Ad spend, CPM, CTR, show rate, close rate, collection rate.
You want to know what these metrics are. Once I have these listed out and I know what my KPIs need to be, then I can say, okay, this one's in the green or this one's in the red. This one's in the green.
This one's in the red. This one's in the green. This one's in the green.
This one's in the red. And now I know, okay, I need to improve this one, this one, and this one. And then what I can do is I can go and I can see what the contractions are with ad spend, CTR, or collection rate.
Typically, ad spend isn't going to be tweaked, but again, just for explanation's sake. I can go look into this. Here's how we typically look at this in practice.
Once I've modeled everything out, I know what my numbers need to be, and I can see the contractions. I will then break this out into three different sections. So number one, section one is the ad account.
Section two is the funnel. Section three is the sales team. Those are the only three things that I need to be looking at in order to solve my problems in that order.
What I will be looking for is, okay, what were the contractions? I had a contraction click -through rate. That's an ad account problem.
What's going on? What are the set of decisions that I can make off of the situation I'm at? And what are the outcomes that it will produce?
And then again, I go back to basically this tree, this decision -making tree, and I start to route. And this is the problem is a lot of advertisers don't have a specific set of decisions where they go, this happens, I do that. This occurs, I look at this.
A great example of this that I see nobody online talking about is spend distribution. Where's my spend going? Did my spend shift?
We recently saw this in a client account where play rate on a VSL tanked. I go look at the ad account. Everything went to a specific feed placement that was bringing in junk traffic.
Kill feed placement, back up. But people don't do this. They go, my ads aren't working.
They look at the objective data. They don't dig into the spend distribution. And then they're sitting there going, could be anything.
Could be anything. And so it's just understanding this simple concept of having systems behind how you choose to make decisions. And again, understanding that everything is a decision with an outcome, decision, outcome, decision, outcome, decision, outcome.
And so if you understand this, you financially model out your funnel and then you list out all of the problems that are occurring at each point. You can then decide, okay, I need to make this change to get this result. And you make this change to get this result.
And eventually you pick your head up one day and you go, oh, fuck, I've seen this before. Let me just do that. I've seen this before, let me do this.
And so like I said, guys, if you're curious to learn more about how we make decisions, our decision -making frameworks, there's gonna be the SOP below that you guys can check out. There's also going to be the link where you can book a call myself to get more in -depth feedback in terms of what might need to be changed in the business, what's currently broken on the advertising side, even sales side, because sales is a big lever too, and what you need to do to actually find success with paid ads by following a proven system.
And then like I said, stay tuned for this Saturday when the consulting call with that client shows up and you can actually see what I mean by talking about spend distribution and some of the things that are missing, even at the very high levels of spend. So appreciate you guys like subscribe comment what you want to see next.

The Hook

The bait, then the rug-pull.

A straight-talking paid ads consultant opens by pointing out that even people spending $150,000 a month on ads hit the exact same wall as those spending $3,000: no system for knowing why an ad stopped working. He spends the rest of the video showing the if-this-then-that decision framework that closes that gap.
