Big Idea

The argument in one line.

Anthropic's new Claude Motion renders a short animated video straight from a text prompt by writing code instead of using a video model, letting any professional turn a routine report into something a client actually watches.

Who This Is For

Read if. Skip if.

READ IF YOU ARE…
  • A freelancer, consultant, or agency owner who sends clients recurring reports, updates, or memos that usually get ignored as plain text or a PDF.
  • Anyone on a Claude team plan curious what Claude Motion and Claude Dashboards actually do, beyond the launch headline.
  • A solo operator who wants to replace a thousand-dollar motion-graphics freelancer with a prompt they can iterate on themselves.
SKIP IF…
  • You're on a personal Claude plan and not ready to upgrade. Motion is team-plan only as of this video.
  • You need true live-action or photoreal video. Motion only renders code-based graphics, charts, and animated scenes, not real footage or actors.
TL;DR

The full version, fast.

Anthropic shipped Claude Motion the same day as Claude Dashboards and out-of-beta Docs, Slides, and Design. Motion turns a text prompt into a short animated video by writing code rather than running a video model, so every shape and number stays editable. The host builds three live one-shot demos, a real estate market update, a bookkeeper's end-of-month report, and an insurance renewal notice, each from a single prompt describing the numbers and a visual reference. Revisions take a plain-English note and under a minute to re-render. The real lesson isn't the demo footage, it's that any routine report a client currently ignores as a PDF or email can now become a video, cheaply and fast.

Chapters

Where the time goes.

00:00 – 00:43

01 · Claude Motion launches

Anthropic ships Claude Motion: describe an idea, a chart, some shapes, or images, and Claude turns it into a short video. Demo: a bike-share company's ride data becomes a 3D animated city.

00:43 – 02:17

02 · How it actually works

There is no video model behind it. Claude writes code that renders the entire scene, which means it can be edited, re-prompted, exported as MP4, and pushed into Runway, Adobe, Descript, or HeyGen.

02:17 – 03:30

03 · Two more launches: Dashboards, Docs, Slides, Design

Claude Dashboards connects to a database, writes its own query, and builds a clickable dashboard. Docs, Slides, and Design came out of beta the same day, on every plan including free.

03:30 – 04:34

04 · Who gets it, and the real opportunity

Motion is team-plan only for now, and Dashboards currently needs a real database, not a spreadsheet. The actual opportunity is using it to make more money, delight clients, or replace a meeting with an email.

04:34 – 04:48

05 · Demo 1: the real estate market update

A single prompt describing the agent's role, the numbers to show, and a reference look is enough for Claude to storyboard six scenes and render a finished 30-second video in two to four minutes.

04:48 – 05:44

06 · Round two: a 45-second revision

A plain-English note, change the price and make it nighttime, produces a fully updated video in under a minute, with Claude stating exactly what it changed before you watch it.

05:44 – 06:44

07 · Demo 2: the bookkeeper's monthly report

A routine end-of-month bookkeeping report becomes a short video instead of a PDF: money in, money out, how much is in the bank, and one suggested next step.

06:44 – 07:36

08 · Demo 3: the insurance broker's bad news

A renewal-price-increase notice becomes a video that states the bad news plainly, then presents three concrete options: raise the deductible, bundle policies, or shop around.

07:36 – 08:30

09 · The real lesson: design is the moat

These three demos were one-shots with no brand tuning. The host closes by offering a free pack of design prompts so viewers' own outputs look as polished as the demos.

Atomic Insights

Lines worth screenshotting.

  • Claude Motion has no video model behind it. Claude writes the code that renders every shape and number on screen, which is why nothing looks like a stock AI actor or synthetic footage.
  • A finished 30-second animated video rendered from one prompt in two to four minutes, including six separate scenes built and sequenced automatically.
  • Revising a rendered video, changing a price or switching to nighttime, took 45 seconds and only a plain-English instruction, no re-prompting from scratch.
  • Claude Motion is currently limited to Claude's team plans. A personal subscription has to upgrade to use it.
  • Claude Dashboards only connects to real databases right now, not spreadsheets, and writes its own query to answer a plain-English question.
  • Docs, Slides, and Design came out of beta the same day and are available on every plan, including free, exporting to PowerPoint, PDF, or Google Slides.
  • A rendered Motion video exports as MP4 and can be pushed directly into Runway, Adobe, Descript, or HeyGen, with Canva support announced as coming soon.
  • Work that used to require hiring a motion-graphics company for thousands of dollars can now be generated for free inside a chat.
  • Before Claude starts rendering, it asks clarifying questions like color palette and animation style, so the first draft already matches a saved brand instead of a generic look.
  • A renewal-price-increase notice became a video that stated the bad news plainly, then offered three concrete options: raise the deductible, bundle policies, or shop around.
Takeaway

A prompt now renders your reports as video

THE MOTION UNLOCK

Claude Motion turns a single prompt into a code-rendered video you can revise in plain English in under a minute, which matters because it replaces reports, updates, and memos nobody reads.

02How it actually works
  • There's no video model under the hood. Claude writes code that renders every shape, number, and camera move in the scene, which is why nothing looks like stock AI footage or synthetic people.
  • Because the output is code, you can keep asking Claude to change any element after the fact, or edit directly in the built-in editor, then export as MP4 and push it into Runway, Adobe, Descript, or HeyGen.
03Two more launches: Dashboards, Docs, Slides, Design
  • The same release also shipped Dashboards: connect a database, ask a question in plain English, and Claude writes the query and builds a dashboard where every number is clickable back to its source data.
  • Docs, Slides, and Design all came out of beta in the same announcement and are available on every plan, including free, exporting to PowerPoint, PDF, or Google Slides.
04Who gets it, and the real opportunity
  • Claude Motion is currently gated to Claude's team plans. A personal subscription has to upgrade before it unlocks, and Dashboards currently only connects to real databases, not a spreadsheet.
  • The actual opportunity isn't the tech demo, it's turning a report or update that used to require hiring a motion-graphics freelancer into something any professional can generate inside a chat.
05Demo 1: the real estate market update
  • A single prompt describing the role, the numbers to show, and a reference look was enough for Claude to storyboard six scenes and render a finished 30-second video in two to four minutes.
  • Before building anything, Claude asks clarifying questions, like color palette and animation style, so the first draft already matches a saved brand instead of generic defaults.
06Round two: a 45-second revision
  • A plain-English revision request, change the price, make it nighttime, produced a fully updated video in 45 seconds, with Claude stating exactly what it changed before you watch it.
  • That edit loop is the real pitch: the first version doesn't have to be right, because iterating costs a sentence and under a minute, not a new production.
07Demo 2: the bookkeeper's monthly report
  • Reframing a routine deliverable, an end-of-month bookkeeping report, as a short video instead of a PDF turns a document nobody reads into something a client will actually open and share.
  • The same pattern applies to any recurring report: money in, money out, and one suggested next action, generated from a prompt instead of a template.
08Demo 3: the insurance broker's bad news
  • For a renewal-price-increase notice, Claude generated a video that stated the bad news plainly and then presented three concrete options instead of a wall of text.
  • Packaging bad news with visual, data-backed options is a template that transfers to any business memo that currently gets ignored as an email.

My friends, Claude just became a video studio. Just a couple of hours ago, Anthropic launched Claude Motion. You describe an idea and Claude animates it into a short video.
You can edit it and you can download it. So in this video, I'm going to tell you everything that you need to know about this new launch and more importantly, how to use it like the top 1 % and get paid. Let's go.
So first off, here's how Claude Motion actually works. You can give it words, a chart. some shapes, or even some images, and it turns it into a short video.
And here's Anthropix's own demo. A bike share company notices the docks on the hill are empty by 8 .15 every morning. Claude turns the ride data into a dashboard and then into this, a 3D city with the bikes moving through it.
And here's what I love about it. There's actually no video model behind it. Claude simply writes code that creates everything in this scene.
So there's no fake footage and no AI people. That's why you can pretty much change everything about it. And you can ask Claude to change it or you can do it directly in the editor.
Then you can download it as an MP4 and simply post it anywhere you like. And they even allow you to push them automatically into other software like Adobe, Descript. Runway, HeyGen, and a few more.
They even announced that Canva is coming soon. And for those of you who watched the video four days ago of my full setup to automate editing, well, the big difference between that and this is that this is done without any setup. But the cool thing is that even the video tools themselves now are showing off this feature.
Within hours, Runway itself posted how motions can now be opened up in their software. So what does that mean for you? Well, basically something that used to cost thousands of dollars to create is now created for free because you don't have to hire a motions graphic.
company but motion was only one of two releases today the other one was dashboards you connect data ask a question and it pretty much builds out a full dashboard to represent the answer Claude pretty much writes the query to go and query the database and then it builds a dashboard that also changes as the numbers change and every number shows where it came from so you can click on it and it can open up in a view where you can see the detail so yeah pretty cool stuff Now the one caveat is they only do this with big databases right now, not your little spreadsheet.
And did I say two launches? I meant three. Plog Docs, Slides, and Design.
All of them out of beta. They're on every single plan, including the free one. You can build things and export them to PowerPoint, PDF, or even Google Slides.
But back to video, Motion is only currently active inside of team plans. So if you have a personal plan, you'll have to upgrade from there. But the big question is, how can you use this like the top 1 % and actually make money?
Well, I think that pretty much every professional has a way they can use it to either make more money or... delight their customers even more to make them recurring customers, or save them from a one -hour meeting that could literally just be an email. But what does this look like in practice?
Let's build three different use cases live. I'll make these incredibly simple so that you don't feel like you can't create them yourself. Okay, so we're inside Claude now, and you have to make sure of two things at first.
First, that you're in the normal Claude. So if you are on this one, that's Claude Code. Here is the normal Claude.
And you also want to make sure that you are on a team account. account, the normal accounts or personal accounts will not do this. But once those two are taken care of, you can jump right inside the chat and ask for it to create a motion graphic video.
So here I have a first prompt, I'm gonna go ahead and paste it. So in this case, I'm saying I'm a real estate agent, I'm looking for a 30 second market update video. And here I want to show this person that we are 3 % up from last year, and also that the homes are selling at the moment in 24 days.
So I tell it the type of look that I'm going for, and then I basically say, think of selling, let's talk. And here, I'm going to go ahead and start this off. And we give it a little second for it to think here, and it's going to ask me a couple of questions.
A few quick picks, then I'll start. So first off, it asks about the color palette. It already has one saved for We Are No Code, so let's go ahead with that.
I could go for the video animation. In fact, let me do that instead. We're going to go ahead and continue.
And now my friends, it literally just starts building out a first animation. And as you can see here, it breaks down the different scenes it wants to have in this 30 second clip. We see there are six scenes.
It's going to build each one one by one with motion graphics based on the color palette we gave it. And then it's going to play them. Tells you roughly how many minutes are left, two to four in this case.
Okay, just three minutes in and all scenes are finished. Let's go ahead and play this bad boy. Here's how homes are selling this fall.
it's basically an animation that's showing the prices of different homes near you and it's also showing you the median sales price up three percent from last year very cool Thinking of selling, I love this. This is so cool.
This is a one shot, by the way. I didn't give it anything else but the prompt that you saw right now. But this is really just the starting point.
From here, you can pretty much adapt everything. So if I go ahead and give it some feedback here, let's say change the median price to $640 ,000 and make it nighttime in the video. Let's see what it gives us.
Okay, so that actually only took 45 seconds and it's pretty much telling us what it's changed. Let's go ahead and play this and see what it's doing. nighttime very cool oh the lights light up look at that super cool this looks a lot more beautiful yeah very cool up three percent has the new amount as well so yeah this is really a great improvement and as you can see you can pretty much train this to provide you with the output that you're looking for let's try something else this time i'll be a bookkeeper i'm gonna start a new session here The idea is to make an end of month report here that's gonna look good and is gonna give all the info to my customer.
Okay, now in this case, I actually gave it a look already inside the prompt. So let's go ahead and see what it's given us here. Very cool.
This is a coffee shop, by the way. Money in.
Money out. Cool. How much you made.
How much is in the bank.
And here a cool suggestion on what you can do to make more money. And you might see where I'm going with this. If you have a bookkeeper, you always get that boring PDF at the end of the month.
Instead, you could just get this awesome video that you can share in one second that really provides everything that someone needs in one place. And this can be used regardless what your job is, regardless the industry. It could literally be a memo to your boss.
Let's do one more. Imagine you're a commercial insurance broker. So I say who I am.
Now the renewal went up in price. We also had some... costs that increased and here i'm providing three options to solve this issue raise the deductible bundle their policies or shop around for another insurer and boom look at this let's check it out best way to deliver bad news to someone annual premium is up okay there's some little things coming out of that card Very cool.
I like that look at that little animation one shot Love it And of course you can adapt this fully to the design system that you want perfected over time have it learn rules that you Want it to use every time you create one of these So this is really cool bad news, but you come with already suggestions on how to fix it Honestly, the number of business use cases for this are really cool.
Now, of course, with the three examples I showed you, those were all just one shot and it didn't actually take the time to fine tune the design system I wanted it to go by. But know that you can have these look perfectly on brand with your logo, color palette, specific assets if you want to add them as well, including pictures.
Now, because design is such an important part of getting good results, I've created a pack of top design prompts so that the look of the video you're trying to create is amazing. And yes, doesn't look like the examples that I showed you in this video. And you can download those for free in my community by clicking the link in the description.
But of course, this is a very first version of motion. And if you want something a little bit more sophisticated, well, I've actually automated my entire video editing setup. You can check it out right here because I break down everything and even give you the skill.
to do this yourself. So I hope you enjoyed the video. I'll see you in the next one.
Let's go!
The Hook

The bait, then the rug-pull.

Anthropic shipped Claude Motion hours before this video went live: describe an idea in a prompt and Claude writes the code to animate it into a short video you can edit and download. The host walks through what actually shipped, then builds three client-facing demos live to show what it's worth.
