Big Idea
The argument in one line.
OpenAI's new Intelligent UI lets ChatGPT pick its own output format, a chart, a calculator, a mood board, or an interactive tool, instead of always answering in a wall of text.
Who This Is For
Read if. Skip if.
READ IF YOU ARE…
You use ChatGPT for business-facing work like quotes, estimates, or client calculators and want prompts that build a working tool instead of a paragraph.
You're deciding whether to update settings or your app now that OpenAI is rolling Intelligent UI out to free accounts.
You want concrete example prompts for turning a one-off calculation into something you can walk a client through live.
SKIP IF…
You're looking for a technical explanation of how OpenAI's model decides which UI to render; this is a practical walkthrough, not an engineering breakdown.
You don't use ChatGPT for client-facing or numbers-heavy work; the business demos here won't carry over.
TL;DR
The full version, fast.
OpenAI's new Intelligent UI changes how ChatGPT answers: instead of defaulting to text, it now picks the format that fits the question, a chart, a calculator, a mood board, or a small interactive tool. The video walks through OpenAI's own before-and-after example (a Sunday lamb roast plan that becomes a live shopping calculator and checklist), a pet mood board, visual explainers for topics like Mahjong and the North Star, and three business prompts, a mortgage affordability tool, a roofing quote calculator, and a real estate net sheet, each built from a single prompt. Paid accounts got it first; free accounts followed the next day. The actionable move: describe your exact numbers and add 'make it interactive,' and ChatGPT builds a disposable mini app instead of a paragraph.

02 · What Intelligent UI actually is
OpenAI announced Intelligent UI hours earlier: ChatGPT now decides the output format, chart, tool, or text, based on what the question calls for.

03 · The lamb roast demo: visual answers
Walks through OpenAI's before-and-after example, a Sunday roast plan that becomes a live shopping calculator and checklist, plus the rollout schedule (paid today, free tomorrow) and a 44% faster web-answer claim.
02:21 – 02:52
04 · Easier to learn
Shows the second benefit: finding the North Star, learning Mahjong's rules, and seeing how Monet painted water all render as visual explainers instead of paragraphs.
02:52 – 03:19
05 · Tools on the spot, and how to turn it on
Covers the third benefit, instant tools, a Hacker News complaint about excess white space, and exactly where to find the feature: the chat tab, the GPT-6 model picker, a desktop app update, and a settings toggle to tone it down.
03:19 – 03:40
06 · Prompt #1: mortgage affordability calculator
Types a client's income, savings and debts into ChatGPT with 'make it interactive,' and gets a live affordability calculator with sliders for rate, down payment and lender conservatism.
03:40 – 04:09
07 · Prompt #2 and #3: roofing quote and real estate net sheet
Repeats the pattern for a roofing contractor (quote calculator by square footage and material) and a real estate agent (seller net sheet with a live sale-price slider).
04:09 – 04:42
08 · The takeaway and sign-off
Frames these as disposable micro apps built to make a point in the moment, not permanent software, then points to another video and closes with the subscribe ask.
Atomic Insights
Lines worth screenshotting.
ChatGPT's new Intelligent UI picks its own output format, chart, calculator, mood board, or tool, based on what the question actually needs.
Paid ChatGPT accounts got Intelligent UI first; free accounts, roughly 1.2 billion users, got access the next day.
OpenAI claims Intelligent UI answers web-search questions 44% faster than the previous version.
Intelligent UI only runs inside ChatGPT's normal chat tab, not in other tabs like Work, which stay text-based.
The feature ships under the model name GPT-6 in the model picker, where it used to just say 'Latest.'
Desktop ChatGPT users have to download an app update before Intelligent UI appears; it doesn't show up automatically.
A prompt stating a client's exact income, savings and debts, plus 'make it interactive,' can generate a live mortgage affordability calculator with sliders.
The same pattern works for a roofing quote calculator (price range by square footage and material) or a real estate seller net sheet (payout at different sale prices).
Adding 'make it interactive' to a prompt is what pushes ChatGPT toward building a tool instead of writing a paragraph.
A Hacker News thread criticized the new visual answers for excess white space, calling them condescending compared to plain text.
These generated tools are framed as disposable micro apps meant to make a point in the moment, not software you're meant to save.
A settings toggle lets users tone down how often ChatGPT reaches for the new visual format if they prefer plain text.
Takeaway
ChatGPT now picks its format, text, chart, or tool, from the question
WHAT TO LEARN
ChatGPT's new Intelligent UI decides whether to answer in text, a chart, or a live interactive tool, and stating your exact numbers plus saying 'make it interactive' is what triggers the tool version.
02What Intelligent UI actually is
ChatGPT's output format is no longer fixed: it now picks text, a chart, or an interactive tool based on what the specific question calls for.
The shift is a per-question format decision, not a new chat mode you have to toggle on manually.
03The lamb roast demo: visual answers
A request like 'give me a plan for a Sunday lamb roast' can return a live shopping-quantity calculator that updates when you change the guest count, not just a recipe.
Paid accounts got the new interface first, free accounts followed the next day, and OpenAI claims it answers web-search questions 44% faster than before.
04Easier to learn
Dense topics like finding the North Star or learning Mahjong's rules render as a visual walkthrough instead of one long paragraph.
Even abstract questions, like how Monet made water look like it's moving, get an image-based answer showing the actual brushwork instead of describing it in words.
05Tools on the spot, and how to turn it on
The feature only works inside ChatGPT's normal chat tab, shows up under the model name GPT-6, and desktop users need an app update before it appears.
There's a settings toggle to tone the new visuals back down if they're not useful to you.
06Prompt #1: mortgage affordability calculator
Stating a client's exact numbers, income, savings, monthly debt, plus the phrase 'make it interactive,' is what turns the answer into a live calculator with sliders instead of a paragraph.
The resulting tool exposes its assumptions, interest rate, down payment, lender conservatism, as adjustable inputs instead of hidden math.
07Prompt #2 and #3: roofing quote and real estate net sheet
The same 'describe the numbers, then say make it interactive' pattern works across unrelated jobs: a roofing quote calculator and a real estate net sheet both came from one prompt each.
Each generated tool shows a visible price or payout range, not a single number, so it reads as an estimate a customer can question rather than a fixed quote.

metaphor
My friends, ChatGPT has officially changed forever. And this is not just a bunch of hype, it literally changed the way it looks. Instead of answering you with walls of text, it now builds you calculators, maps, charts, and even games inside of the chat itself.
And starting tomorrow, 1 .2 billion people will have access to this. But unfortunately, most people will just use it for dinner recipes. So in this video, I wanna cover everything that you should know about this new release, and I'll teach you some tricks on how to use it like the top 1%.
Let's go. Okay, so just a couple hours ago, OpenAI announced the release of Intelligent UI. And up until now, every answer you get from ChatGPT has the same format.
You ask it a question and it gives you a wall of text, maybe a table if you're lucky. But now ChatGPT decides exactly how it wants to represent the answer based on the question you've asked. So if the answer to your question requires a chart, it'll show you a chart, allowing you to compare things side by side.
If you ask for a tool, it'll build you a tool. And of course, if text is the right format for you, well, it'll just answer in text like usual. And OpenAI's launch video says it itself.
Sometimes words aren't enough. I mean, honestly, learning from ChatGPT is pretty frustrating. So let me show you what I mean with the before and after.
OpenAI's side -by -side example. Give me a plan for a Sunday lamb roast. I'm having friends over, still figuring out numbers.
Here on the left, you can see the old answer and the new version. the answer comes with pictures and even a calculator that when you say how many guests are going to come it'll update the shopping list you need to buy it even has a cooking checklist for you it's basically a little app built just for you now today all paid customers get access to this new ui but tomorrow even the free accounts have access to it and the other thing it's advertising is that it is quicker apparently it's 44 quicker at actually getting answers for the questions you have when it goes out and scrapes the web and so it basically makes chat gpt way more visual here's a backyard garden question on a phone First, a normal answer, and then the new answer with this intelligent UI.
Or this one. My dog needs a cool vest. Could you please make a mood board?
And as you can see, you can get a mood board with colors, photos, and even a filter that changes the vibe. Now, the second thing this does is makes it way easier to learn things. How do I find the North Star?
And instead of getting a massive paragraph, I get this. Teach me how to play Mahjong. Lays out the tiles, shows you the rules.
How did Monet make water look like it's moving? Shows you the painting up close and also the brush strokes that allowed it to do that. the third thing is tools that it could spin up really quickly and it'll actually build this out for you and even though most humans are very visual some people didn't like it a thread on hacker news was complaining about how much dead white space there was around it but how do you get it well this actually runs in the normal chat for chat gpt it does not work in any of the others which will still be text based so make sure you're inside the chat tab and not the work tab you can open the module menu and you're going to see gpt6 which used to actually say latest so you basically don't have to do anything however if you're on the desktop app you will have to download the update to get access to this new feature and if you hate it you can tone it down in the settings the real question is how can you actually use this in a way that's beneficial to you like the top one percent and by the way if you want my cheat sheet on how to use this in multiple different use cases you can download that for free inside of my community let's just say that you're a mortgage broker for example you could type in something like this a client earns 120 000 a year has 40 000 saved and 600 month in car payments how much house can they afford
Make it interactive so I can walk them through it on a call. And boom, a full affordability tool will appear. Income, savings, debt, interest rates, down payment, long term, and a slider for how conservative or aggressive the lender is.
Or if you're a roofer, for example, you could say something like this. Build me a quote calculator my customer can use. Roof size, material.
pitch and whether the old roof needs tearing off and just 30 seconds later an estimator for your customer to use or maybe you're a real estate agent well you could say something like my seller's house is listed at seven hundred thousand dollars they owe four hundred and ten thousand dollars my commission is five percent closing costs are about two percent make it interactive so i can show them what they walk away with at different sales prices you get a seller net sheet with a price slider at list price they walk away with 287 .5 thousand dollars and if And if you drag the slider down you can show them a different amount.
So it pretty much allows you to build these micro apps in the moment so that you can represent a point that you don't actually need to save or you don't want forever. I personally think this update's really cool because we are visual beings after all. But if you're less interested in these updates and want to actually see me build a full automated system that replaces a department inside my own business, you can check out this video because I literally built a video editor that does everything for me without writing a single line of code.
And of course, if you like this video, like, subscribe. See you in the next one. Let's...
