Big Idea
The argument in one line.
A grounded approach to dating after 30 means ranking a primary life purpose above romance, deliberately creating low-pressure opportunities to meet people instead of waiting to be approached, and trusting a longer timeline instead of needing any single date to prove your worth.
Who This Is For
Read if. Skip if.
READ IF YOU ARE…
A man in his 30s or older re-entering or re-evaluating dating after a long relationship, who wants a plan that doesn't feel like a relapse into anxious pickup habits.
Someone who has built stability and confidence elsewhere in life and isn't sure how much room dating should take up without it taking over.
A reader who wants a concrete, repeatable approach to approaching people, opening conversations, and structuring first dates.
SKIP IF…
You're looking for pickup-artist tactics, scripted lines, or techniques for maximizing short-term hookups — this video is a deliberate move away from that style.
You want a data-backed dating-app strategy — this creator is skeptical of apps and barely covers them.
TL;DR
The full version, fast.
A dating-content creator asks what he'd do if he woke up single at 36, and rejects both extremes: swearing off dating entirely, and organizing his life around the next date. His answer is a hierarchy — a primary pursuit (career, business, purpose) ranked above dating, treated like a fitness habit maintained in the background rather than a problem to solve through effort. He'd manufacture opportunities instead of waiting to be approached, use one plain direct opener delivered with calm presence, and judge progress by trust and connection over months rather than by sex on an early date. The through-line: the dating market has genuinely worsened for men, but strategy and reaction remain fully in his control.

02 · Torn Between Two Lives
He's objectively in the best position of his life to attract women, but prioritizing dating now would clash with his businesses, his faith, and the stability of a healthy relationship.
01:53 – 04:46
03 · Why I Chased Women in the First Place
He traces his channel's origin to insecurity — no girlfriend until 24 — and argues the dating market has genuinely worsened for men because dating apps and social media profit from keeping both sexes swiping.

05 · The Golden Rule: Hustle Before Dating
His core rule: dating stays ranked beneath his main pursuit (his businesses), which gives him purpose independent of romantic outcomes.
07:52 – 09:16
06 · Manufacturing Opportunities
He'd actively create chances to meet someone — talking to people at the gym, replying to an Instagram story, saying yes to more social invites — instead of waiting to be approached.
09:16 – 10:26
07 · The System: One Simple Opener
His entire approach strategy is one plain line, delivered with calm presence and eye contact, not a clever scripted opener.
10:26 – 11:44
08 · Abundance Over Anxiety
Contrasts his old scarcity mindset (juggling multiple women out of fear) with a new approach: trust the process over months, and let exclusivity happen naturally.
11:44 – 13:23
09 · Sex Isn't the Scoreboard Anymore
He used to treat sex on an early date as proof of success; now, shaped partly by his faith, he treats it as something to be more selective and unhurried about.
13:23 – 14:32
10 · The First-Date Format That Never Changes
His unchanging first-date plan: drinks at one specific, curated bar rather than a long formal dinner, followed by casual low-pressure hangouts.
14:32 – 16:21
11 · The Answer
He lands on a grounded middle path between total avoidance and obsessive pursuit — the answer to the opening question is no, he wouldn't go back to chasing.
Atomic Insights
Lines worth screenshotting.
A man who spent years chasing women's approval can still feel the pull of that chase even after he's stopped needing it.
The dating market shifted because smartphones turned it into an attention economy — the same platforms that profit from men swiping also profit from women feeling they have endless options.
Going without a girlfriend until age 24 quietly became the engine behind years of chasing women, driven by a need to prove capability rather than genuine interest in any one of them.
Ranking a relationship above your main pursuit in life — a career, a business, a purpose — creates dependency that outside validation can't fix.
Dating decisions made from scarcity, like fearing your 'pipeline will go dry,' produce anxious, low-status behavior even when you tell yourself you're not being needy.
Treating dating like fitness — a background habit maintained consistently rather than a problem to solve emotionally — removes the emotional charge from individual interactions.
Waiting for someone else to make the first move sets up a relationship where they end up leading it, undermining your position from the start.
A single plain opening line works better than a clever scripted one, because calm delivery and eye contact do more of the work than the words themselves.
Treating sex as a scorecard for whether a date succeeded turns every interaction into a test you're trying to pass, which reads as needy rather than confident.
Grabbing drinks at one specific, curated bar works better as a first date than a long dinner, because it removes the pressure of a formal interview.
Both extremes — swearing off dating entirely and organizing your whole life around the next date — are two versions of the same fragile ego trying to protect or prove itself.
A financial system that removes daily uncertainty about money tends to lower a person's overall anxiety in dating, independent of how much they actually earn.
Takeaway
Dating gets easier once it stops being the main event.
PRIORITY, NOT PURPOSE
The plan for approaching dating again isn't a pickup strategy — it's ranking a primary purpose above romantic outcomes, creating opportunities without chasing them, and trusting a longer timeline instead of needing any single date to work.
01The Question
Being in the best physical, financial, and social position of your life doesn't erase the pull to revisit old validation-seeking behavior — awareness of the temptation is the first step to not acting on it.
02Torn Between Two Lives
The stability of an existing support system is easy to undervalue until you imagine deliberately trading it for the freedom of dating again.
Feeling like something 'would be embarrassing' or 'wrong' to prioritize at a given life stage is a useful gut-check for whether a behavior still fits who you're becoming.
03Why I Chased Women in the First Place
Years of a public 'chase women' persona can be built on private insecurity — going without a girlfriend until a certain age can create a need to prove capability that has nothing to do with the women themselves.
The dating market shifted structurally, not just anecdotally: dating apps and social media are ad-revenue businesses incentivized to keep both sexes swiping, which inflates one side's perceived options and the other's sense of scarcity at the same time.
You don't control the platform incentives or cultural shifts working against you, but you always control your own strategy and reaction to them — that's the only lever worth focusing on.
05The Golden Rule: Hustle Before Dating
Ranking a primary pursuit — career, business, craft — above dating gives you a source of purpose and control that doesn't depend on another person, which removes pressure from every date.
A rotating dating life without an underlying purpose is an empty life regardless of how much romantic 'success' it produces.
06Manufacturing Opportunities
Waiting passively for someone attractive to approach you is a fantasy, not a strategy — worthwhile opportunities have to be actively created.
Free time that opens up when you're single is best spent saying yes to more social situations, since each one is a chance to cross paths with someone new.
If a relationship starts because the other person did all the pursuing, the power dynamic tends to stay off from the beginning.
07The System: One Simple Opener
A plain, direct line delivered with calm presence and real eye contact outperforms a clever scripted opener — the words matter far less than how they're delivered.
Overthinking the 'perfect' opening line is a distraction from the actual variable that determines attraction: how composed and present you are.
08Abundance Over Anxiety
Constantly worrying that your dating 'pipeline' will run dry produces anxious, needy behavior even when you're consciously trying not to act needy.
Trusting the process over a longer horizon removes the urgency to force any single interaction into something it isn't.
Naturally narrowing down to one person because you're enjoying their company, instead of formally negotiating exclusivity, keeps a relationship's momentum led by genuine interest rather than status-seeking.
09Sex Isn't the Scoreboard Anymore
Treating sex as proof a date 'succeeded' turns every interaction into a test to pass, which reads as need rather than confidence.
Casual encounters can feel rewarding in the moment and hollow immediately after — that gap between anticipation and aftermath is worth noticing before chasing the same pattern again.
10The First-Date Format That Never Changes
A short, casual first date creates natural conversation better than a long, formal dinner that feels like an interview.
Repeating the same simple, curated venue for first dates removes decision fatigue and lets you focus on the person instead of the logistics.
11The Answer
The hardest part of any healthier approach to dating isn't picking a mindset once — it's maintaining a relaxed, opportunity-taking posture consistently without sliding back into either avoidance or obsession.
Both refusing to date at all and organizing your entire life around dating are two versions of the same fragile-ego problem, just pointed in opposite directions.
Answering 'no' to going back to old chasing behavior doesn't require regretting the version of yourself who did chase — each phase can be a legitimate step toward the next one.

Frame
In dating and pickup-community language, the underlying composure and power dynamic a person holds in an interaction — 'killing the frame' means acting needy or reactive and losing that composure.
Simping
Slang for someone performing excessive, unreciprocated effort or submission for a romantic interest's attention, typically driven by a need for validation.
Golden age of pickup
Slang some dating-advice creators use for an earlier period of their life spent approaching strangers in public as a structured, repeated practice.

So recently, somebody asked me, David, if you woke up single tomorrow, no Julia, would you go back to chasing girls like you used to before Julia?
And honest answer, it's something I've been thinking about more than I would have expected.
Because on one hand, I'm in the best position of my entire life to attract women. Like, if we're just being objective between the success that I've built, you know, my physique now, the status I have through social media, the confidence I've built over the years. And I'm not saying these things as like a humble brag.
I'm just saying if you compare David now to David ten years ago, there's a very big gap there and those things matter to to women. So of course, that's something that's very tempting to think about like, oh, you know, you know, what could I do now?
But on the other hands, something feels wrong about prioritizing dating where I'm at now.
Like, it would almost feel embarrassing to be spending a lot of time chasing girls, 36 years old, managing different businesses I do.
And then there's my journey with faith and God and Christ that's really developed a lot the last few years and it would almost feel wrong to like organize my life around casual hookups. Then if we're just being purely practical, like the stability and the support that I've gotten not only from Julia as a person being there behind me, but also the stability that comes with being in a healthy relationship, like going back to the pure chaos of of trying to spin plates and date different women.
I I don't know, man. Like thinking about it, it sounds kind of exhausting. That being said, I think my answer is actually gonna surprise you.
But before we get there, we gotta be real about a couple things because the dating market and the, you know, male versus female dynamic is a bit different now than it was ten years ago.
Now let's talk about the beginning. Let's talk about the pursuit. So I built this channel, you know, at least the first half a million subscribers or so on the dating content, on being out in the streets myself, approaching these girls back in Boston, showing you guys the wins, the losses, the the embarrassing moments, the lessons that I learned.
And during that time, I was going very hard prioritizing my dating life above basically everything else. And I don't regret that. Not at all.
But I will say looking back and being honest with myself, it wasn't really about the women. You know, I was someone who was a very late bloomer with women.
In university, I had like a drunk hookup or two, but I really had zero women in my life until I was like 24 years old and got my first girlfriend. And that really deeply bothered me most of my life because it made me feel, you know, less than my friends and other guys who did have a girlfriend or were hooking up with girls.
And it created this pain inside of me that, like, I have to prove this to myself and to the people around me that I can be the guy who who's capable of talking to and having an attractive girlfriend. And that deep need, that ache inside of me for external validation, man, that's what that's what fueled the beginning of all of this.
And chances are right now if you're feeling similar and you really, you know, wanna have a girl in your life badly, that's probably part of it for you too.
And and that's alright. But the reality is that the game truly has changed.
So really quick, think we need to call out the obvious that the dating market kinda sucks for men. It's gotten a lot worse and let's not, you know, complain about it.
But but I think it it's important to be aware of it. And a big part of it was the invention of this guy right here, the the iPhone and the smartphone and social media because it's a multi billion, if not trillion dollar industry.
And if Instagram and if Tinder can keep you on there and swiping and lusting over women, then you're on the apps more. They're making more advertising revenue. But it's worse for men because there's this asymmetry where even a mildly attractive girl is gonna be constantly receiving messages from men on dating apps and Instagram.
So she thinks she has endless options and then every girl basically thinks she deserves, you know, the top 1% guy, the, you know, six five, blue eyes, million dollar bank account, however that stupid song goes. And then of course, feminism in this entire I don't need a man culture has a lot of women conditioned to take men less seriously and then men are more bitter towards women.
It's a motherfucking war out there. But here's the thing, even with these less than ideal conditions, you still get to control how you play the game. You get to control what your strategy is and how you react to women.
And remember that because it's central to what I'm about to tell you. One real quick note before we dive in.
Let's acknowledge the reality that your finances do play a role in how you interact with women. And if you don't feel like you have that part of your life in order, it's just gonna create a little bit of insecurity because you probably don't feel like you could provide for a girl. But I will say from my experience, regardless of my income level, once I feel like I finally had a strategy and I was seeing some progress with my money, like everything got way easier and I felt way more confident in general.
And that's why I wanted to tell you guys about Monarch, the sponsor of today's video. So Monarch is basically this all in one dashboard that pulls all of your different accounts, banking, credit cards, investments, all into one clean place.
So you don't have to stress out checking five different apps just to see where you stand. It even gives you AI insights based on your data to help you focus on the levers that matter most. Now, probably the most important part is the net worth tracker because seeing that number grow over time, seeing that progress, that that just helps you get that momentum and keep that momentum going.
If you're in a relationship, you can sync your partner's accounts into the same dashboard so you're on the same page about bills and everything else. And honestly, just having that picture and knowing where everything's at, it removes a lot of the stress and tension with those money conversations. Of course, Monarch is fully private and ad free.
It syncs with over 13,000 different banks and institutions, and the setup only takes like ten minutes.
So if you're ready to level up your financial planning, just scan that QR code on the screen or click the first link down in description to start your free trial today and get $50 off your first year with code beast 50. That being said, let's get back to it.
This is what I would actually do if I woke up single tomorrow morning. Alright.
First things first. My golden rule for myself would be that my dating life has to be prioritized beneath my main hustle.
So for me, that's, you know, running edge lifestyle clothing, making these YouTube videos. Maybe for you, it's your career, but that's the thing that gives me a purpose in life, man.
That gives me a reason to wake up every day. That's the thing that I have control over. I'm not depending on other people and it allows me to experience growth.
And without that, like, man, you know, when I was in my golden age of pickup and I was, you know, rotating a bunch of different girls but didn't have a purpose, that that was an empty life. If you have that purpose when you wake up, you can still live a good life.
Even if you got no women in your life and you're not making that much money yet, you can already have that today. Dating is on the same tier as fitness. Right?
It's something that just can happen automatically in the background. You don't have to think about it. It's not some problem that you have to solve.
I just show up to the gym, open up the Beastly app, I do the exercises, weights, and reps I'm supposed to do. When I'm eating, I make sure that I'm getting enough protein in, and then I know the results are gonna come.
That would be my frame for my dating life. When an opportunity comes, I'm gonna shoot my shot. I control the input and eventually the output, the result is gonna come.
But of course, it's not gonna happen on its own. Like, I have to create those opportunities or there's not gonna be any.
So if I'm at the gym and I spot an attractive girl, I'm gonna make sure I go work out next to her so I have an opening to talk to her. If I hop on the elevator in the apartment, there's a cute girl on there, it's not gonna be this debate in my head.
Should I do it or not? Like, it just has to happen.
I guess Instagram, I'd probably leverage. That'd a benefit of having built a personal brand. If I saw a cute girl in my city, I could reply to one of her stories casually and then ask her out.
The dating apps, I'd probably hold off at first just because it can be a big time suck. I went down some dark paths trying to like gamify dating apps in the past.
A big difference would be that I would say yes to every social event I got invited to because right now I say no to a lot of them. But when you have a girl in your life that gives you some social energy every day, when you're single, you got more free time on your hands.
Like, would just say yes. That's gonna give me more opportunities to perhaps cross paths with another attractive girl. But I would never ever ever hope that some attractive girl just threw herself at me.
I used to dream about that, man. It'll be so easy if a cute girl just fell on my lap. Brother, if I start a relationship because a girl approached me, the entire dynamic would be off.
Like, don't wanna be in a relationship where the girl's leading the way and telling me what to do, man. So if you've been falling for that fantasy like happens in all the porno's, give up on that.
Ain't happening. You don't want it to happen anyway. Oh, I can't pay for my pizza.
I don't have any money. Maybe if you come in, I'll pay you some other way. In terms of the specific system, y'all have heard me say this a million times if you saw my old videos, but my entire strategy would be, hey, you seem like a cool girl.
Would you wanna hang out sometime? That's it. That's that's the line to ask a girl out.
I wouldn't overthink like the opener. I would just casually start conversations. Hey, see you at the gym a lot.
Oh, I'm Dave. What's your name by the way? In the elevator.
Hey, how's your day going? What are you up to? These things don't fucking matter, man.
Like when you just calmly speak to people and you hold good eye contact and you present yourself well, the attraction is gonna be there or is not. But perfectly saying some cheeky line, that's not gonna be the thing.
That's not gonna be the difference maker, man. Now, the big difference versus old David would be what happens after the initial conversation.
At least what happens inside of my head because before I was always like anxious like, man, if I'm not texting three different girls right now, then I'm my pipeline's gonna go dry next week and, you know, that's what got me anxiously swiping on the apps, simping even when I was telling myself that I wasn't simping. Now well, like I said, man, if if I'm making progress in my main hustle, well, life is good.
It's like little Wayne says, let it all work out. Would just trust that after, you know, meeting three girls or 20 girls or 30 girls after a month or three months or two years, eventually, I would just trust and have faith that there'd be a cool girl who I'd be getting along well with and then things would move to the next level to a more long term thing.
Like it's really that simple. You go on one date with a girl, if it goes well, you ask her to hang out again, if it goes well, you ask her to hang out again and so forth.
And If after a couple months in, there was no red flags and I was still enjoying her company and still attracted to her, well, I would just naturally stop pursuing other girls. I would exclusively date her and I wouldn't do this simp thing like, well are we officially boyfriend girlfriend now?
Can you sign on the dotted line here so I don't feel like a loser anymore? So I can tell people I have a girlfriend? That completely kills the frame.
I would just enjoy it and keep leading things forward, and then she would ask. Sooner than later, she would ask.
Now, let's talk about sex because that used to be my barometer for success.
I was always trying to make it happen on the first date, if not, then I was trying to make it happen on the second date, and if not, then I failed. And that is such like this little boy mentality of needing to get something from the girl to feel okay with myself.
And I suppose part of this comes from my faith, but part of it also comes from having gone through the cycle of casual hookups with random girls and realizing that nine out of 10 times, as soon as it done, it just feels empty, man.
That being said, if you're just moving in a calm, masculine way and you're sure of yourself, you're not reacting to everything the girl says, like, there's naturally gonna be an opportunity for the hookup after a few dates. It's not something you gotta stress about or engineer to happen like like I used to think.
If and when I wanted that to happen, I would just set up a casual date night at my spot. You know, hey, let's do a movie night and have a bottle of wine. That's it.
But in terms of whether or not, like, I personally would pursue casual hookups, look, I'm I'm someone who still struggles with lust as much as the next man.
I think I would definitely treat it as something a lot more special to share with someone because of my faith. I would be a lot more selective and conservative about it, but I don't know what that would look like if I'm being honest.
I'm I'm still a man. I'm still a mere mortal human being of the male species.
Now one thing that would definitely not change versus old David, and this is critical, it would be the first date plan. It would basically always be, hey, let's grab drinks one night this week.
Are you free Wednesday or Thursday? Okay. Cool.
I know the perfect spot. There's something about grabbing drinks, especially if it's at a trendy cocktail bar that has, you know, a very curated vibey environment. Man, the conversation just flows naturally.
I love doing this with Julia to this day because you it forces you to be present with the person and then you're sitting there, you know, cocktail in your in your hands, sitting back like this, kinda smirking, nodding along as the girl's talking. You just feel like a boss.
You feel like James Bond and it it it sets the frame so well. Especially if you show up at some fresh edge. It just it positions you as like a really classy guy.
I like that. And then after that, the dates don't even matter anymore. I'm just gonna do casual things that like I'm I enjoy doing regardless.
You know, hey, let's go get a workout in together and grab a smoothie after. Hey, let's go for a walk downtown and grab a coffee. Hey, I gotta run a few errands today.
Let's go, you know, shopping. And then you can pick out an outfit for her to wear. She can pick out an outfit for you to get.
You don't wanna be doing the interview mode sitting across a long formal three hour dinner. That's always a l. So now, it's time to answer the question.
So the hardest part about being single again would be maintaining this let it all work out easy mindset while still taking the initiative and creating the opportunities. You know, the past, would either be like, fuck dating.
I'm done with my dating life. I'm just focusing on my mission. Or I'd be balls to the wall like my entire life revolved around my next date.
Both of those are weak, man. You're either hiding and trying to protect your fragile ego or you're just looking for female validation.
Like most things in life, there is a grounded middle path. It's the one that I just laid out for you.
And I realized I might have contradicted something that I said in the old video, but that constant, that was real to who I was at the time. So I I stand by that.
I stand by that guy. That guy was part of my journey to this guy, and this guy's part of my journey to the next guy. So to answer the question from the beginning of this video, no.
I would not go back to chasing girls like I used to, but I wouldn't have from it either, man. I would focus on living my life, take advantage of the opportunities when they came, and I would trust that it's all gonna work out because it did.
And honestly, that's exactly how I would meet the next Julia. Living calm, no chasing, but ready to make the move when the opportunity comes.
If you enjoyed this video, don't stop watching now brother. I recommend you watch that video next. In fact, the YouTube algorithm has recommended that one for you.
Click there to watch that now. If you're new to the channel, click down there to subscribe because I drop fresh videos every single week, and you don't wanna miss them. I'll talk to you in the next one.
