Big Idea

The argument in one line.

You don't need to create more content to be everywhere; you need to break each original piece into 20 to 80 smaller posts, re-angled for each platform and spaced out over time.

Who This Is For

Read if. Skip if.

READ IF YOU ARE…
  • A creator whose main output is a YouTube video or podcast and who wants a repeatable way to cut it into dozens of posts for other platforms.
  • A short-form creator who films vlogs or B-roll and feels like every video dies the day it's posted.
  • A newsletter, blog or Substack writer who knows video is the growth lever but doesn't want to start from a blank page.
  • A creator close to burnout from trying to be on every platform at once.
SKIP IF…
  • You want a strategy for making one video go viral; the video says repurposed posts aren't built for that.
  • You haven't picked a primary content format yet, since every playbook here starts from one finished piece.
TL;DR

The full version, fast.

Creators who show up everywhere have a team, the right tools, or both, so the realistic move is to repurpose smarter. For long-form video, transcribe it and cut it into 5 to 10 clips, 5 to 10 re-filmed scripts, blogs, emails, carousels and text posts, for 40 to 80 pieces total. For short-form, reuse one vlog's footage with a voiceover tutorial, a story voiceover, ASMR audio, bloopers and 7-second aesthetic clips, spaced a month apart. For written content, feed the post to AI to get 30+ threads and short-form scripts. Repurposed posts keep you present; they aren't meant to go viral.

Atomic Insights

Lines worth screenshotting.

  • One long-form video or podcast can realistically yield 40 to 80 pieces of content once you count clips, re-filmed scripts, blogs, emails, carousels and text posts.
  • Clipping a long video and re-scripting the same ideas for fresh filming give you two separate sets of 5 to 10 short-form videos from one source.
  • A transcript is the raw material for nearly everything else: blog posts, three to five emails, captions and thread posts all start from it.
  • Short-form creators can repurpose one vlog by changing only the audio and the hook text: original music, tutorial voiceover, story voiceover, and an ASMR cut.
  • Spacing repurposed versions about a month apart keeps the audience from getting tired of seeing the same footage.
  • Four vlogs a month at five versions each is already 20 videos ready to space out, leaving room for new content.
  • The goal of repurposing is presence, not virality; the original post is the one made to go viral.
  • If your main content is written, the long-form funnel starts at the top: you already have the script, so turning it into video is easier.
  • Recording a long-form video after writing a Substack post gives AI two sources in your voice, which makes generated scripts more accurate.
  • Caption text from every repurposed post can itself be recycled into thread posts and LinkedIn or X text posts.
Takeaway

Make less, get more from each piece

WHAT TO LEARN

Pick the format you create best, then reshape that one piece into every other format and platform instead of starting from scratch each time.

  • Start from a transcript: it can become blog posts, three to five emails, captions and thread posts without rewriting your ideas from zero.
  • Offer two flavors of short clips from long videos, clipped directly or re-scripted and re-filmed, so you aren't tied to a look that says this was clipped.
  • Pull clip angles from the best teaching point, the most surprising moment, the biggest mistake, a quick win, a case study, a contrarian take or a personal story.
  • Reuse one vlog's footage with new hook text and new audio, such as a tutorial voiceover, a story voiceover or ASMR, and space the versions out by about a month.
  • Turn bloopers, relatable moments and 7-second aesthetic shots into separate posts so one filming session feeds many posts.
  • Treat repurposed posts as presence-keepers with no virality expectation, and put your hook effort into the original post.
  • If you write first, feed the post and later your video transcript to AI so the scripts it writes match your voice.

Don't just watch it. Burn it in.

See every word as it's spoken — crank it to 2× and still catch all of it. The same dual-channel trick behind Amazon's Kindle + Audible.

As creators, it feels like we have to be everywhere, doing all the things all at once, because that's what all the bigger creators are doing. So we have to do that too, right? But how can you be everywhere, create engaging and valuable content, post consistently and not burn out?
If you asked me this question a year into my creator journey, I would have said it's not possible. I mean, look at her. She's not holding it together very well.
But after being in the game for seven years now, I've noticed the creators who succeed at this have one or maybe even two of these things. One, an amazing team behind them, helping them be everywhere, the right tools to help them create and repurpose in a way that's sustainable long -term. Or three, they don't have a life or kids.
Okay, kidding. So let's just focus on what you can control if you want to either post to multiple platforms, or if you simply want to learn how to get more from your content than you ever thought was possible. In this video, we're going to talk about repurposing in a little bit of a different way.
This will be dependent on what your main form of content is. So if your primary piece of content is a long form video like YouTube or podcasting, you'll learn how to turn one piece of long form content into at least 40 to 50 different posts for across platforms. If your primary piece of content is short form content, you'll learn how to turn one short form video into at least 10 different posts over time and how to post it once so that it auto posts to all platforms.
And if your primary piece of content is written like a blog post or a sub stack post, we'll talk about how to film that to be as efficient as possible, where you could get again, at least 40 to 50 posts to post across platforms. Well, the basics of repurposing is taking one video and then just reclipping it a few. different ways to repost it over and over again.
I also wanna talk about working smarter and not harder with your content and really trying to get the most out of it so that you're posting platform specific content. I'm really excited for this one because I feel like not a lot of people are teaching this approach. So as always timestamps are below, use them if you need them, let's jump in.
Strategy number one, long form repurposing. Creating and editing long form content or videos is probably one of the most time consuming parts for being a creator especially because of how much time goes into creating long form content you want to be making sure that you're making the most of one piece of content first let's break down what this strategy is going to look like and then i'll show you how to do it let's say you start with one youtube video or podcast from that one video you could create one to two blogs three email newsletters five to ten short form videos using clipping and five to ten short form videos for refilming from there each of those short form videos could also be turned into captions carousels youtube community posts and of course i'm sure with one piece of long -form content you could probably get like 20 or more thread posts or posts to LinkedIn and Twitter or X.
Do people say X now? Maybe I'll start saying X. Let's use this YouTube video as an example.
I could take the transcription from this YouTube video and easily turn that into a blog post. Honestly, I could probably turn it into three different blog posts. Same thing with email newsletters.
If you have an email list, I could probably write three to five different emails to my email list from this transcription. One saying that this video is now live. I could probably break down each three of the topics and then even one talking about the importance of repurposing and working smarter, not harder as a con.
content creator. For you, you could pull out the strongest lesson or story and turn that into an email. I could easily turn this video that you're watching and clip it down into probably five to 10 short form videos to post across socials.
If I don't like the clipping method where it looks like, hey, this was a YouTube video clipped for short form, then I could take this transcription, plug it into AI and ask it to re -script five to 10 short form videos for me. So you have five to 10 options for clipping and then five to 10 if you're open to refilming and making platform specific content.
Short form videos pulled from long form could be talking about the best teaching point from a video, most surprising moment, biggest mistake from the video, a quick win for the audience, an example or case study, a contrarian opinion that you have, step -by -step process, a story with your personal experience. There's so many ways you can clip and repurpose a long form conversation.
Those then can be turned into carousels and any solid one -liners that I have in this video, I could turn into a thread post, text posts on LinkedIn X. etc. So one YouTube video or podcast could realistically give you anywhere between 40 to 80 pieces of content.
Obviously that sounds like a lot so I'm going to show you how you could do it in a way that's not overwhelming or going to make you burn out so let's say i filmed a youtube video where i'm teaching five ways to grow on instagram first thing that we're going to do is upload our footage to riverside if you haven't yet recorded your footage you can also record directly in riverside they record up to 4k for any format interviews live streaming or webinars so i originally started using riverside when i launched my podcast and i was like wait Why aren't all video editor softwares like this?
And since then, I've been obsessed with using them for editing and repurposing for my long -form content. This is honestly probably my biggest hack for repurposing content, and I'm really excited that Riverside's actually sponsoring this video because I feel like everyone just sees Riverside as a tool for podcasters. But there's honestly so many amazing features.
being slept on that literally any creator can use and i want to show you exactly what i mean by that first just from uploading my raw footage to riverside riverside already does the first cut because they use the transcription to automatically cut out mistakes pauses or filler words this already makes life way easier as a content creator and this is obviously great But believe it or not, that's not the mind blowing part that I want to talk about because next we have Riverside's magic clips.
This finds moments from your video and turns them into shorter clips that you could use on any short form platform already created with captions where you could also go in and make further edits. All of these suggestions of repurposing. are really spot on because riverside uses your own transcription and actually understands your video so they know how to make the best suggestions for you so it looks like from this video i already have one two three like 10 posts ready to go for short form but that's not all because We want to be content maxing again, trying to get everything we can out of our efforts.
So below that Riverside also has pre -written an Instagram caption and a blog post. Oh, you wanted Riverside to create something else for you. That's fine.
Not a problem. If you want something else inside this same project, what I usually do is I'll go ask Riverside's co -creator to help me turn what I've already taught into a written post. Now, this way I have a really good starting point using the ideas that I've already explained.
So I would just read through this, adjust anything that doesn't quite sound like me and make sure it's something my audience can learn from right there in their feed. To help make co -creator even more spot on, you could actually customize co -creator so that it gives you the best suggestions for you rather than generic recommendations that would work for just anyone.
I'm not trying to sound like an infomercial right now because I... like i'm about to say but wait there's more again like i said this is like I feel like it was a secret hack that I had uncovered and I'm just so excited to be able to tell so many people about it because I've had Riverside turn videos into so many different pieces of content.
So I've had Riverside turn a video into an email newsletter. I've also asked it to take the five biggest takeaways from my video and then write me some short form scripts so that I could film them separately when I had the time to. And for anybody who is also a YouTuber watching this, Riverside can even create your thumbnail for you, which is just like another super time consuming piece of the puzzle being a creator.
And so I love that Riverside has those capabilities. Then with all of these pieces of content here, you can schedule them to your socials directly inside of Riverside. So I can simply just choose when I want this clip to go live and start spreading those posts throughout the week or throughout the month.
See. This is what I'm talking about when I say like trying to get the most out of something that has already been created. The content creator hamster wheel doesn't always have to look like churning out new content day after day.
It could simply be breaking down each tip. example or question you answer from a longer piece of content and just repurposing that across platforms. If you want to try this with one of your videos, I'll leave a link to Riverside down in the description.
You can use code modern Millie for one month for free on the pro and grow plan. Now, what if most of the content that you create, your primary piece of content is short form. There's still a lot that you could do with that footage too.
So repurposing strategy number two is short form to more short form. I feel like this strategy is a strategy that is less talked about, but it's 100 % a way to work smarter and not harder as a creator. Because again, like I said in the beginning, your content doesn't have to end when you hit publish.
Recording one single vlog. could give you up to 10 plus other short -form videos that you could also post. Now, this example that I want to talk through works best if you are creating some sort of vlog content or used to filming like your B -roll throughout your day.
The example that I like to use for this is a morning coffee vlog. Let's call this your original concept or the original video. It's your morning coffee vlog with a bunch of clips edited to aesthetic music, maybe a hook text on screen.
After you post that one video, the second video would be a voiceover tutorial using the same footage. This would be more educational and like talking through the coffee recipe that you're showing in the morning vlog. You could take again the same video and this time add a voiceover with more storytelling.
Something you're going through, a pain point that your audience usually faces, maybe how you got into making coffee. With these two repurposed voiceovers, you're also changing the hook text on screen. And then again, you could take the same exact video or the same exact clips.
and just make a more ASMR audio focused only version. Typically when I get to this point and I'm like, hey, use the same video and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. People are like.
won't my audience get tired of this you're not posting these back to back to back to back you're spacing these out like one month apart if making coffee vlogs is just a normal piece of content and let's say you make four coffee vlogs in a month that's already 20 videos ready for you to repurpose and then you could space them out long enough so that each month you have some breathing room to make new and fresh content but we're trying to just make the most with the footage that we have next you're going to go through the footage that you had originally filmed from the coffee vlog and you're going to just make like a bloopers only reel you could also make a video that is pulling relatable or awkward moments as opposed to like haha bloopers but more like relatable moments next you're going to take any of the clips that you filmed for the vlog ideally you find the most aesthetic one and this is how you do those like seven second aesthetic videos maybe you pouring your shot into the the milk maybe that's the most aesthetic part so you could turn that into a seven second clip make it moody add a little bit of music some inspirational quotes on screen and if you have multiple aesthetic shots in your vlog you have let's say there's three
aesthetic different moments. you already have nine posts ready from one vlog. If you did find bloopers, you could make like a blooper versus final shot moment.
So like the failed attempt versus the actual outcome. Something that I like to do with like the morning coffee vlogs is if you had a morning coffee vlog that was a recipe tutorial, you could just screenshot moments of that video and turn it into a carousel post, just writing through the steps of the recipe. If it wasn't a recipe tutorial and maybe you're voiceover for the storytelling one was more about like lessons you've learned.
If you're able to create any sort of tutorial based content within the repurposing, that tutorial based content could be elaborated on and turned into a blog post, a sub stack post, or an email newsletter. If you wrote captions for each of these posts, all of those captions could be repurposed and turned into thread posts, LinkedIn, Twitter, et cetera.
So technically recording one short form vlog, if you're somebody who is intentional with getting a lot of B roll that could get you over 20 different posts. And honestly, probably even more if you're like really trying to make it aesthetic because the number of aesthetic seven second clips can become endless over time.
Something to keep in mind with any sort of repurposing strategy is your goal with repurposing is not virality. We're not trying to go viral with these repurposed posts. These are simply to maintain awareness or maintain our presence across platforms.
It's usually that first post that you create, the original one that's created intentionally with like the hopes and goal to go viral. Any repurposing you do from that one post is usually created with the intent to just like, I just need to show up. I need a piece of content.
I have no expectations of it going viral. So if you need help with that first post of trying to get it as viral as possible, one of the biggest things to focus on is the hook of the video. And I actually have a resource with over seven.
75 proven viral hooks. We did the research. We found all the videos.
There's examples in this PDF. So there's 75 proven viral hooks that you could use to copy paste and help make your video ideas even stronger. So if you want access to that, I'll be sure to leave a link to it down below.
Now, if you were really interested in like, wait, I loved this idea of like one short form video being so many different. other videos you can watch this video next because this video is actually the full breakdown of everything that i just explained now if you've learned one new thing so far be sure to give this video a thumbs up since it tells youtube that other creators like yourself would find this video helpful and if you learn two new things by the end of this video consider subscribing since it's a simple way to support my channel and it allows my team and i to continue making free content like this for you every single week our final strategy is written content If your primary piece of content is a newsletter, a blog post, or substack, this section's for you.
It's no secret that substack is blowing up right now. Chances are, if you're watching this, you might already be following a few creators over there, and you might even be starting to think about starting a substack yourself. I do really believe that there is a lot of power with substack right now, but it doesn't overshadow the fact that video is king or queen.
At some point, you'll have to turn that written form into visuals, into video, and still be able to grow across other social media platforms. And the cool thing about being a creator where your primary content is written is that you can kind of just start the long form funnel from the top. So you already have your written piece and it's going to be so much easier for you to take that.
transcription copy paste it into any ai bot of your choosing to give you as many pieces of content as you want so usually we take the long written piece of content and we turn that into a youtube video a blog post then plug it into AI and ask for whatever deliverables you want to receive from it. You could turn a written sub stack post into over 30 thread posts or carousels or posts to LinkedIn.
Since it's written already in your voice, turning those pieces into short form scripts will be so much quicker. Typically, if you've already written the piece of content, yapping in a YouTube video becomes most natural.
And if you really want to do this the smartest and most efficient way, I would just honestly record your long form video directly in Riverside. And then Riverside could do the rest of the repurposing for you with two solid written sources, your sub stack post, and now your YouTube transcript. any ai tool that you use to write new scripts for you will now be even more spot on because it has such a understanding of your brand voice so one substack post could turn into basically all of this i'm super curious if you're somebody who's interested in written content like blogs or substack let me know if that's you let me know in the comments below because i've been definitely itching to get on the substack train and also like make videos about Substack here on my channel so if that's something you'd even be interested in let me know in the comments below.
Thank you so much for watching. I will see you in the next one. Follow your joy.
Bye.
