Big Idea

The argument in one line.

Search demand trend, intent, and difficulty read together tell you not just whether a keyword is popular but whether it is a winnable, growing opportunity worth building content or positioning around, down to naming a community.

Who This Is For

Read if. Skip if.

READ IF YOU ARE…
  • You do content marketing or SEO and want one local tool that scores keyword demand, difficulty, and intent instead of juggling several paid SEO subscriptions.
  • You're comfortable pointing a coding agent (Claude Code, Codex, Roo Code, etc.) at a GitHub repo to install and run a local app yourself.
  • You already have, or are willing to set up, a DataForSEO account and pay per API call rather than a flat monthly SaaS fee.
  • You want keyword research output (CSV, PDF, or JSON) you can hand directly to an AI agent for content or SEO work.
SKIP IF…
  • You want a fully hosted, no-setup SaaS with a dashboard login — this is a self-installed local app with no hosted account.
  • You're not willing to run any API cost at all — DataForSEO calls are pay-per-use, and a full guided report runs about 50 cents.
TL;DR

The full version, fast.

Keyword Pro is a free, open-source, locally-run keyword research console that turns a single seed keyword into DataForSEO-powered demand trends, search intent, difficulty, CPC, competitor and audience data, and an opportunity map showing where easy wins are. The creator argues that a keyword's core numbers (rising or falling demand, difficulty score, search intent) tell you whether a topic is worth targeting, and demonstrates finding low-difficulty, growing long-tail terms inside a broader keyword like 'marketing.' He installs the tool by pasting its GitHub link into a coding agent, connects his own DataForSEO API credentials (pay-per-use, about 50 cents per guided report), and exports the research as CSV or PDF to feed into an AI agent's content workflow. He closes with a real example: comparing total search volume for 'ai marketing' (2.5 million) against 'ai seo' (a small fraction) is what led him to name his own paid community 'AI Marketing Hub' instead of an SEO-focused name.

Where the time goes.

00:0000:23

01 · Meet Keyword Pro

Daniel introduces Keyword Pro as a standalone local keyword research console combining a guided report, an advanced endpoint explorer, saved sessions, charts, and exports.

00:2300:50

02 · Why he open sourced it

He announces the tool is now open source, points to the GitHub link in the description, and sets up the live walkthrough.

00:5001:46

03 · Run your first keyword report

He types 'marketing' as the seed keyword, shows the advanced/normal mode toggle plus country and language selection, and notes a full guided report costs about 50 cents across roughly 25 endpoint calls.

01:4602:48

04 · Read search demand

Explains the search-demand-over-time chart as the first filter: falling demand is a signal to target something else, while rising demand (as with 'marketing') means the keyword is worth pursuing.

02:4803:19

05 · Understand search intent

Shows the search-intent breakdown (informational vs commercial vs transactional) and contrasts 'marketing' against a transactional example, 'shower filter', to show how intent should shape the content or page built for a keyword.

03:1905:19

06 · Find opportunities and easier keywords

Walks through the opportunity map (volume vs difficulty 'sweet spot'), the difficulty spread donut, and the highest-volume and easiest-win keyword lists, arguing for targeting easy and medium-difficulty terms instead of highly competitive ones.

05:1906:47

07 · Explore trends, history, and audience data

Shows the keyword's multi-year CPC, competition, and search-volume history chart, then age, gender, and regional 'where the demand is' breakdowns for identifying who is actually searching a term.

06:4708:13

08 · Inspect competitors and search discovery

Reviews who currently ranks for the keyword, Google-style autocomplete suggestions, People Also Ask questions, and related searches as additional content-angle sources.

08:1311:19

09 · Filter the full keyword table

Opens the full related-keyword table (volume, history sparkline, difficulty, intent, CPC, competition, bid range, keyword age), sorts by difficulty and growth trend, and clicks into an individual keyword for deeper history.

11:1911:48

10 · Export and save your research

Shows exporting the full keyword research as CSV and PDF, and notes every report also autosaves to a local session list so reopening it later doesn't trigger another paid API call.

11:4813:07

11 · Get the GitHub repo and set it up locally

Copies the GitHub repo link and demonstrates installing it by pasting the link into a coding agent (Codex, shown here) with full permissions, asking it to install the app and open a local dev server.

13:0713:45

12 · Connect DataForSEO

Opens the app's Connections panel and enters his own DataForSEO API login and password, explaining the tool is pay-per-use against the user's own account rather than a subscription.

13:4514:59

13 · Use keyword data in a real SEO workflow

Runs a real example comparing total search volume for 'ai marketing' (2.5 million) against 'ai seo' (a fraction of that), explaining this data point is what led him to name his paid community 'AI Marketing Hub' rather than an SEO-focused name.

14:5915:11

14 · Join the community

Closes by pointing viewers to the free and open-source GitHub repo and the AI Marketing Hub community links in the description.

Atomic Insights

Lines worth screenshotting.

  • A full guided keyword research run costs about 50 cents because it calls roughly 25 data endpoints in one pass.
  • If search demand for a keyword is trending down over time, that's a signal to target a different keyword rather than force a losing bet.
  • Search intent (informational, commercial, transactional) tells you what kind of page to build for a keyword, not just how to write it.
  • An opportunity map plotting search volume against difficulty surfaces 'sweet spot' terms worth targeting before any content gets written.
  • Difficulty spread breaks a keyword's related terms into very easy, easy, medium, hard, and very hard buckets so you can pick winnable fights instead of competing head-on with high-authority sites.
  • Historical CPC and competition data for a keyword goes back years, showing whether a term's cost and difficulty are climbing or falling over time.
  • Regional and age/gender demand data lets a business pinpoint which audience segment is actually searching a given term.
  • Combining low keyword difficulty with a rising search-demand trend is presented as the practical formula for picking topics you can rank on soon.
  • The tool exports full keyword research as CSV, PDF, or JSON specifically so an AI coding agent can consume it for content and SEO work.
  • Comparing total search volume between two candidate niche names, 2.5 million versus a small fraction, directly decided how a paid community was named.
  • The app has no login, hosted account, or monthly billing; it runs entirely locally and pulls live data through the user's own DataForSEO account, so cost is pay-per-use, not subscription.
  • Installing the app doesn't require manual environment setup: pasting the GitHub link into a coding agent with permission to act is enough for the agent to install it and start a local dev server.
Takeaway

How raw keyword data turns into a content and positioning decision.

WHAT TO LEARN

Search demand, intent, and difficulty aren't separate checks: read together, they show which keywords are actually winnable, and the same volume data can decide how you name and position an entire offer.

01Meet Keyword Pro
  • Keyword Pro combines a guided keyword report with an advanced endpoint explorer, saved sessions, charts, and exports in one local console.
  • A single research tool that folds demand, intent, difficulty, and export together reduces the need to stitch together multiple separate SEO subscriptions.
03Run your first keyword report
  • A full guided report calling around 25 data endpoints costs roughly 50 cents, so the per-keyword cost of deep research stays low.
  • Advanced mode lets you manually pick which endpoints to call, trading completeness for a cheaper, narrower pull when you don't need everything.
04Read search demand
  • Falling search demand over time for a keyword is a signal to abandon it rather than force content or a business around it.
  • Rising demand trends are the first filter to check, before difficulty or competition even enter the decision.
05Understand search intent
  • A keyword's dominant intent, informational, commercial, or transactional, should decide what kind of page or content you build for it, not just its volume.
  • The same seed topic can carry very different intent depending on the exact phrase, so intent has to be checked per keyword, not assumed for a whole niche.
06Find opportunities and easier keywords
  • An opportunity map plotting volume against difficulty surfaces 'sweet spot' terms worth targeting before you write anything.
  • Going after very hard, high-authority keywords without existing domain authority is like going to war you're likely to lose; easy and medium-difficulty terms are the practical target.
07Explore trends, history, and audience data
  • Multi-year CPC and competition history for a keyword shows whether it's getting more expensive or more competitive over time, not just its current snapshot.
  • Age, gender, and regional breakdowns of who is searching a term let a business match content and offers to the audience segment actually demanding it.
08Inspect competitors and search discovery
  • Reviewing who currently ranks for a keyword is a direct competitor-strategy check, not just a curiosity.
  • Autocomplete suggestions and People Also Ask questions are ready-made, low-effort content angles because they mirror exactly what people are already typing and asking.
09Filter the full keyword table
  • The full keyword table can be sorted to find keywords that are both low-difficulty and trending up at the same time.
  • Combining an easy difficulty score with a growing demand trend is the practical formula for picking topics you can realistically rank on soon.
10Export and save your research
  • Every completed report is saved locally so revisiting it later doesn't trigger another paid API call, which matters on a pay-per-use pricing model.
  • Exporting research as CSV or PDF is a way to hand the data to an AI coding agent or a team, not just for personal reference.
11Get the GitHub repo and set it up locally
  • The tool installs by pasting its GitHub link into a coding agent with permission to act, rather than through any manual setup process.
  • Treating an AI coding agent as the installer for open-source tools removes the traditional friction of local dev environment setup.
12Connect DataForSEO
  • The app requires the user's own DataForSEO account credentials because it has no hosted backend, login, or monthly billing layer of its own.
  • Pay-per-use pricing through your own data account is a specific alternative to recurring SaaS subscriptions for keyword research.
13Use keyword data in a real SEO workflow
  • Comparing total search volume between two candidate keywords, 2.5 million versus a small fraction, is a concrete method for deciding how to position or name an offer, not just for writing blog posts.
  • A 5x difference in total addressable search volume between two near-synonym niches was the deciding factor in a real naming decision.
Glossary

Terms worth knowing.

Search intent
The underlying goal behind a search query, classified as informational, commercial, or transactional, which indicates whether the searcher wants to learn, compare, or buy.
Keyword difficulty
A score estimating how hard it would be to rank organically for a given keyword, based on the authority of pages currently ranking for it.
Opportunity map
A scatter plot combining search volume and keyword difficulty for a set of related terms, used to spot high-volume, low-difficulty 'sweet spot' keywords worth targeting.
CPC (cost per click)
The price advertisers pay per click for a keyword in paid search, used here as a signal of commercial value even for organic content decisions.
DataForSEO
The third-party API service the app queries for live keyword, search-volume, and SERP data, billed to the user's own account on a pay-per-use basis.
Long-tail keyword
A longer, more specific search phrase that typically has lower search volume but is easier to rank for than a short, broad term.

hey there guys and welcome today i'm presenting you keyword pro your ultimate keyword research application keyword pro is a standalone local keyword research console it combines a guided keyword report with an advanced endpoint explorer saved research sessions charts and exports so this is an example of how the application itself looks and just let me show you how it works and by the way guys i open sourced it yes i heard you and this is the open source version of the research product keyword research part yeah you will find it down in the description but in the meantime also you can put me on the site here and i will explain exactly how this whole application works and how you can use it in your workflows in your research because a good keyword research is needed i hope you have used different keyword research applications but at the same time let me just yeah show you how this one works i'm going to put here Let's say AISC.
Let's go for marketing, right? Marketing. Just simple, classic one keyword.
Here I can choose, by the way, between advanced or normal mode. And here I can choose the country. In my case, it shows United States.
In your case, maybe something else. And the language is English. Well, without that setup, without the advanced mode, this overall keyword research costs around 50 cents.
Here you can see also how the price is increasing because here we're calling multiple endpoints, around 25 of them. And if you want to go for full -on raw mode, like maybe cheaper perhaps, you can go also for these modes and you can select them manually yourself. But here I have put a default mode to avoid overlap, so for us to be able to squeeze everything we can about a keyword.
Now, how can we use that to our advantage? Why keyword research is needed? Now, let me show you why.
First thing first is this. now this is very important why the search demand over time if you're running a business and you're targeting something maybe a product let's say shower filter and if the search demand over time is going down then of course targeting that business is a no -go right why because people will not search that but if the demand over time let's say you can see that the graph is increasing let's say for example like here boom now that's a good thing so currently we are ai marketing that's why also we are targeting marketing but the marketing keyword here is just an example you can put two words three words even a long tail here you're going to tell you exactly what what overall is at the same time here i can just put even ai marketing but let me show you around exactly what data what it shows and how and when maybe you can even use this whole thing to your advantage because that's exactly where we are going So once again, the first thing first, I mean, search demand over time.
If it's going down, then maybe try a different keyword, perhaps for a different strategy. Here we have a good one, so we can just move on. Now marketing, right, the keyword.
The search intent for this specific one is informational and also commercial. Now, if you have maybe a product, let's say like shower filter, let me just refresh this. Like shower filter, for example, here I have an inquiry.
You're going to see here that we have more transactional. let's say search intent and why this is required so your overall context and overall keyword to be you know properly categorized so we can so even the system and the algorithm can find the relevant persona also for you now this can be used to your advantage knowing the search intent and also here you can see straight away we have also the opportunity map now here we have a sweet spot so it's auto calculated so review it first uh basically here we've got the top relevant keywords based on the let's say in this case marketing and it put by search volume and keyword difficulty and here you can see i can just hover so if a chief marketing officer okay jobs about marketing staples printing something marketing marketing a jobs so these are sweet spot that we can just easily target in our content perhaps or something else but the same time here we have relevant data about any other keyword we have difficulty spread
So based on what exactly you want to target. So let's say if you want to target something, maybe some content, perhaps some blogs, articles, pages, pillar pages, product pages, even updating older ones. Now, it's very good to go maybe for very easy, easy and medium ones.
Because going for the hard and difficult ones, I mean, if you want to go for a war with the guys, if you don't have enough authority, then good luck with that. For now, we're going to go just with easy, with our aesthetics. We're going to go with the EEIT of our business and what I recommend.
Let's say when you're doing this overall keyword and research and then you're sharing it with your agent, perhaps, right? Because you can just easily connect it with your agent, being cloud, codex, rockbook, whatever you're using. And like that, you can just find full -on opportunities exactly.
where you should go let me just open this new window now going back to the main keyword which is marketing right because i like to explain you overall what everything is so we were at difficulty spread like that the system shows you like if it's easy to rank on this keyword so if everything is red of course good luck i mean better maybe try something else or try to compete Here we have highest volume based on this specific keyword, which is marketing.
American Marketing Association. Wow, look at this. Keyword difficulty 42.
Not very difficult. At the same time, 1 .2 million search volume. Now, that's something.
We have Farmers Marketing, eBay Shift Marketing, but it shows here general keywords. Can we narrow it down? Absolutely yes, with a simple long tail.
um easiest wins for this specific keyword we have interest over time once again from google trends and also from data for seo trends just to reconfirm exactly how everything goes so far that's a big win how the keyword got here so here we can see the history between i mean let's say in september 2021 it was around 1000 was 110 000 searches and almost six dollars cpc which is cost per click and competition 12 and now this is 21 dollars here's seven dollars cost per click and the searches wow if really they're lower 90 .5 searches interesting now this is a very interesting but still can see here that the trend is growing now who is searching wow very good for identifying personas so let's maybe if we have a product a product store or a service or whatever, even any sort of business you have, local business, even international business, you have a specific age group for your business.
So that being, let's say, maybe you're selling, let's say, t -shirts, right? What sort of t -shirts? What's the age?
So between maybe 25 to 40, for example, or 50, or all age groups. So that you can identify, like, which age groups are interested in this specific keyword more. At the same time, by genders, I think you can understand it.
Also, where the demand is based on the country that you have selected. So, just to know your regions. Also, who ranks today in marketing in general?
Just imagine it as a simple Google search query. Of course, can we give it a long tail? Absolutely, yes.
We're going to try it also that in a bit. Now, if you want to... know your competitors so maybe if you go for a deeper as i mentioned research you can definitely review exactly their strategy and everything else they have guys i mean it's simple as that your agent can easily handle this whole thing i mean this is the good thing about it now we have autocomplete so i hope you know what autocomplete is it's when you go to google for example and i'm writing marketing right so we have this autocomplete here and for us to avoid that hustle you straight away have it here and like that it knows exactly also we can understand the algorithm and also what is being pushed to people based on also the search that being search volume and the search demand so that's how the algorithm google is doing it and are many people using google search maybe yes but still we're targeting that one also i mean also geo ai aeo i mean all all of those things in general it's seo so
People also ask, easy, create content around that, maybe even some blogs, boom, easy rankings. Combine it with easy search volume keywords, in a way, and with opportunity keywords, and like that you can just easily rank some pages, some blogs, and make, of course, content relevant and professional and proper for people to read, not AI slop.
Related searches, and also related to the current subject. Now, this is the juicy part. till now it was nice just overall information now this is the fun part and this where everything prevails because of course first we're gonna have our main keyword with its volume and here first we can see the history monthly quarterly and yearly search trend difficulty and intent now these ones are the first of course we have much more here let me just even try to maybe make it like this So imagine, even through here, we have so many of them.
Of course, we can have even more collapsible pages, but we don't want, because this is too much for us also. Of course, if you want to do a full -on investigation, I mean, sure, please. But here, what we want is basically this part, I will say.
Yeah, till here. Till here. And if you want to click on a keyword, we also can go into depth if you want to go full -on technical, but if it's too much for you, it's totally fine.
You don't need to open this. now what we want we can click here and to maybe try we can want maybe want to identify trendy topics something that is trending and is growing so we can also rank for that we can press on early search trend boom you can see that only this one digital marketing platform for small businesses now will this application be useful for small businesses absolutely yes because like that by using this keyword right now even in specific blogs perhaps like that we're gonna have a lot of clicks because look at that search volume look at that history and the intent and the difficulty is just 13.
it means if i create now right now a blog about the current keyword i can just easily get a piece of this pie maybe that being 1, 2, 3, 4 % depending on my domain authority and others domain authority. Now let's go for maybe also for difficulty for easy ones that we can just scale straight away, right away, maybe in the next week.
I can just press on difficulty. These are super difficult ones, but I can go for also for easy peasy ones. I can combine these with the ones which are growing, for example, in demand.
And like that, I can just create authority in the space. but of course depending and that's why you as a human reviewer as an expert in the field you're going to review each and every one and want to just pick the ones that you like and based on the ones that you like all the information is there and the your ai agent can just take care of your content of your seo practices updating your pages so people can really find your business now going also for intent of course that depends again at the shower filter example uh what do you want are you here to sell something to people are you here to share knowledge let's have for example even intent of the current video so very good also for ais to identify specific content also cost per click very good for ads so i think for anyone that wants to go for full ads i mean this this is going to be super useful for you this is got it and guys all of this can be downloaded as a csv I mean, the keyword research itself can be.
So you can just have it for reference, maybe in your vault or somewhere else. I'm really sorry if I blinded you, but you can do that also if you want to share it with an agent, perhaps, or with your team. Also, you can download this whole report as a PDF.
So you can just press here, download this PDF. And again, if you want to have it for reference in the future. You'll also be saved to your local session in your chats.
And guys, once again, I want to mention this application is open source. it is there for you you'll find it down in the description but before i'm going to close it let me just show you how you can set it up so you're going to have the github repo so basically it's the github repo and we're just going to copy the link you will need to open a cloud session so or your codex or whatever agent you're using i'm just going to put it here nicely here i'm going to summon let's say codex i'm going to put permissions full access just for now for this scope and right now i'm going to put hey let's install this application and open a local dev server just an easy voice to text i'm going to put here the link of this github and you just press on enter but because i have already installed and i have opened then it will just open for you a local session on on your computer let me just close this it will open for you a local session like this so as long as you have done that
i mean it will install just leave the local session open with your agent and you can even work on top of this application i think many of you are just going to port it in your own application in your own sas perhaps you can even build a sas out of this um you can join our community if you want our pro community if you make good money with this with this thing you know connections very important so when you install this application when your agent is installing the app you will just need to go to connections basically here and here you will need your data for your api and login because i made it for now because why it's is the cheapest so far i mean there's so many apps there and so far i got this one so the guys are doing a very good job i mean all endpoints are okay they're relevant they're working so we're just getting the full -on data we are paper use model and you just connect your api password login and password here press on save and afterwards you can go and run your
keyword research so you can just check okay this is trending good you want to go for something else let's say what is not trending so i'll tell a good example so why we are ai marketing because we have the ai marketing hub community but why we are not ai seo i'll tell you an example so this is a good example for this so let's say ai seo i can just i opened one session here we have search demand over time but here i can see the total search volume for this keyword which is 446 but we are ai marketing and that's why here we have a total search of 2 .5 million so that's a good you know 5x i would increase by targeting only this keyword because i could have even named the community as you literally wanted to but at that i'm going to have five less for example people inside it that's how i went for more broader subject and uh yeah this is just one example of how you can use these tools and how you can read them you can just try to understand this whole graphs you can just talk it with your agent like where you can use it how you can use it you can combine it with cloud seo really
you can just download the report and combine it to even with your agent with this skill on and then you can just cook and get those rankings easy peasy everyone so join our community you're going to find the links down in the description it's there free and open source keyword pro for you guys thank you so much for watching my name is daniel and have a great day ahead
