My Entire Revenue Engine (From Start To Finish)
Laurel Portié scrolls through the actual document she hands her students: a six-phase system built to plug four leaks in a funnel before a single ad dollar gets spent.
February 1stA whiteboard walkthrough of the two mistakes that stall DM conversations: bait that's too broad, and pitching before you've diagnosed the real problem.
Messenger conversations stall for two reasons: the bait was too broad to filter for a real buyer, and the seller rushed to pitch before diagnosing the lead's actual constraint instead of the one they assumed.
Most Messenger conversations die for one of two reasons. First, the bait post was too broad and curiosity-driven, so it attracted tire-kickers instead of people with the exact problem the offer solves. Second, the seller skipped the diagnostic step and pitched the thing they assumed the lead needed instead of finding their actual most immediate constraint. The fix is a funnel: post bait around one specific, narrow problem your ideal client has, then run the DM as a slow back-and-forth (a 'ping pong match,' not a serve) that surfaces the real blocker before offering anything. Once the real constraint is found, prove you can solve it (rewrite their script, review their footage) before ever mentioning a call. The person leaves with usable value either way, which is what brings them back to book.

Sets up the claim: this framework can take someone from cold to sold within 24 hours, and most teachers skip the nuances that make it work.

The core mistake is copying someone else's viral bait post or going broad/curiosity-based. Bait has to target one specific problem only the ideal client has.

Once someone raises their hand for the bait, message them and remind them why — then begin the diagnostic process instead of pitching.

Run the DM as a slow question-and-answer exchange to uncover the lead's real, most immediate constraint — which is often not what they asked about.

Worked example: a lead asks for an ad script, diagnosis reveals the real issue is the first five minutes of their webinar, so Laurel rewrites that instead — proving competence before any pitch.

Frames the offer as MapQuest (free, printed instructions) versus Google Maps (paid, live rerouting when something breaks) to justify the call ask.

Addresses the objection that DM-by-DM closing doesn't scale by reframing 100 conversations a week as roughly 14 a day.

Closes with the offer for her live group program, Momentum — no curriculum, just working Zoom sessions, $200/month, two spots open.
Most DM conversations fail before the pitch: the bait was too broad to filter for real buyers, or the seller solved the problem the lead named instead of the one that was actually blocking them.
“We don't want to post anything that's curiosity based. We want to post something that solves a specific problem.”
“This diagnostic process needs to be like a ping pong match. We're not slamming a serve that goes by them.”
“I proved that I know my shit. I proved that I'm not just a fake guru.”
“They have the MapQuest, but I'm selling the Google Maps.”
“100 Messenger conversations divided by seven, it's not a lot of conversations every single day.”
See every word as it's spoken — crank it to 2× and still catch all of it. The same dual-channel trick behind Amazon's Kindle + Audible.
Laurel Portié claims her students can take a lead from cold to sold in 24 hours, then spends ten minutes drawing the actual funnel on an iPad: the two nuances she says most DM-framework teachers leave out.
A top-of-funnel-to-close model where the bait qualifies the lead, and the DM conversation diagnoses before it ever pitches.
“If you would like in on that, drop a line below this video. I only have two spots right now open.”
Soft, low-pressure close after ten minutes of pure teaching — pitches the $200/month Momentum group program with explicit scarcity (two spots) rather than a hard sell.
