Big Idea
The argument in one line.
Claude Code can replace a human video editor for about $100 a month, as long as you write your editing style into a skill and review each cut with timestamped notes.
Who This Is For
Read if. Skip if.
READ IF YOU ARE…
A creator posting several short-form videos and a weekly YouTube video who pays an editor or loses hours a week in a timeline.
A solo founder or coach who records talking-head content and wants a repeatable edit-to-post pipeline without learning editing software.
An editor or freelancer who wants to see what an AI-driven edit workflow looks like in practice, including where it misses.
SKIP IF…
You need complex cinematic or heavily art-directed edits; the examples here are talking-head reels and graphics-driven shorts.
You want a free, no-purchase setup guide; the full template pack is a paid product and only the starter skill is free.
TL;DR
The full version, fast.
The creator says Claude has edited every short and YouTube video he has posted for two to three weeks, saving 10 to 20 hours a week. He prices a human editor at $5 to $150 per short and $150 or more per YouTube video, about $2,100 a month for 30 shorts plus 4 long videos, against roughly $100 for a Claude Max plan. The stack is Claude Code desktop, an ElevenLabs transcript, Hyperframes for graphics and captions, and ffmpeg. The key move is a saved editing-style skill, refined through timestamped notes in a review app. A live 30-minute edit needed seven notes and about 1% of weekly usage.

I have not touched an editing timeline in the last two to three weeks and for full transparency Claude has edited this entire video so if you see extra graphics going on simply because I want to showcase what Claude can do that is why but not every single video needs to be like this and plus for the last two to three weeks every video on my short form page every video on my YouTube channel has been edited by Claude which means I've saved easily 10, 15, maybe even 20 hours every single week plus it's allowed me to stay consistent a whole lot easier and this is coming from someone that used to be a full -time video editor so i know how powerful this thing is or how good it really can be plus i'm a full -time content creator too so like editing is still part of my job anyway in this video i'm going to go through a few things it's going to be the real cost between a human editor and claude editing it's going to be in dollars so you guys I work in dollars now because I've got a bunch of American clients.
Most of you are probably American. If not, it's just the currency of the world. Then it's going to be a full setup.
So everything you need to download step by step, you should be able to just screenshot the list or there's going to be a free AI editing skill in the description, which you can download. And if you put that into code, it will basically install everything for you. Then I'm going to show you how you can teach it your editing style so it never makes the same mistake again.
And I'm going to go through a live edit. Now, this is actually my second time recording this because. my computer crashed because I just have no internal storage.
So I had to make a few adjustments. Anyway, with that being said, let's quickly go through this. A cheap editor.
If you're looking for a cheap editor that's in like third world countries, it's going to be like $5 to $15 for a short form video. $5 to $15 for a short form video. Over the course of a month, that's $150 to $450 a month.
If you're looking for a premium editor or just a good editor, on the low end, you're getting $30 per video. Typically, it's $50 per video. I was charging $50 per short form video around, I think, two years ago when I was a full -time editor.
Then on the top end where you want extra motion graphics, extra this and that, it's $150 per video. So if we look at that for the month, that's either $900 a month, $1 ,500 a month, or $4 ,500 every single month. If we're going to the YouTube side of things, a YouTube video typically on the low end, $150.
That's bare minimum. And if we take that bare minimum, because this could go up to 500 per video, I've been quoted that, some people do per minute. If we go on the low end and do four videos a month, which is once a week like normal, that's $600 per month.
And you have to go with the turnaround time of three to seven days. Sometimes you have to nudge the editor because they have so much work going on. Now, if we compare it to Claude.
You can get the Claude Max plan for $100 a month. 11 Labs is what I use to transcribe the videos, but you can use, I think it's called Whisper on Mac. I'm not sure what it's called on Windows, but there's a free local transcription tool that you can use.
But 11 Labs is so cheap and it's super accurate. I found it's just made my edits better. 22 cents per hour.
hella cheap then you got hyperframes which does like the animations the text the graphics the captions everything then ffmpeg by the way you don't need to know how to code you don't need to know how to edit you just have to set this up once and talk to it in plain language because i have no idea what that is i have no idea what node .js is and python all of that stuff but you can see it's all free now roughly is going to be like three dollars per like video if we do 30 short form for youtube videos a hundred dollar subscription roughly around three dollars now i did a video about this before i did 16 short form videos with claude on a hundred dollar plan it took up 22 of my weekly usage so i did two weeks worth of short form For 22 % of my weekly usage.
And that resets every week. So I could have probably done upwards of nearly 100 short form videos. And these are different videos.
Not just variations of the same video. It would even be cheaper. So if we compare it side by side.
A human editor. 30 short form videos at $50. This is me.
And then you've got YouTube videos. 4 YouTube videos. $150.
You're looking at $2 ,100 every single month. Whereas if we go to Claude. Your Claude.
is only $100 if you go for the max plan. I've got a client that's on the $20 plan and she's fine with that. All 34 videos, you just need to record them, you know, come up with the ideas, etc.
Hand it to Claude and it's done. So $2 ,100 a month versus $100 a month. You're literally saving $2 ,000 every single month.
And let's not even think about the time. You don't have to sit there and edit the videos in case you're thinking, I don't pay an editor, I edit myself. It takes me hours, right?
or even just the time it takes for the editor to do the edit. Three to seven days. Typically, they'll say three to four, maybe sometimes 48 hours.
But sometimes you pay a premium to get the video back faster. Then you have to give them notes and revisions. And then you have to wait for that again.
Whereas Claude would deliver that shit in the same day. Guys, it's insane. You can record a video now and post it.
Now, I said this is my second time recording it. So in the first one, I actually recorded the video, which I will show you guys the video. And I'm going to give it to Claude, give it the same prompt, and I'm going to leave it to edit.
And you guys are going to see the result of that. Now, here's exactly how it works in a nutshell. I have the raw recording.
I'm going to give it to Claude. Claude already has my skills, my templates, etc. And it's basically going to run every tool.
I'm going to give it a simple prompt. It's going to transcribe. It's going to cut.
It's going to do the captions and the text, any B -roll if necessary, depending on my templates, any animations, etc. Sound effects, music, and then it will render a 720p version so I can leave notes inside a editing review app. So then it can then make those changes and then do the final export at 1080p for me because it's just a lot faster than 4K.
And then you have the finished video ready to post, which I will have it upload to Google Drive or it will just be on my desktop and then airdrop that back to my phone to just post it. Here's everything that you need. You can screenshot this.
Hopefully you can just screenshot this, give it to Claude and Claude will install everything. So first, you can't screenshot this part. You actually have to do it yourself.
Download the Claude desktop app. And the mistake a lot of people make is they think they can use the web. Wrong.
Or when they download it, they don't actually use Claude code. They use the Claude code work slash chat section. That is not going to work for editing videos.
Then second, you need to install Homebrew. This allows your Mac to basically install everything else afterwards. On Windows, it will basically be an alternative or...
It will basically tell you to paste like commands into your terminal to basically install all of these things. I've done this for a client, so I know that it works. It's just slightly different on Windows.
I'm not a Windows user. I'm Mac. And that being said, I'm actually due to upgrade my Mac.
So your editing style. Essentially, when you come up with an editing style, it will create. You should tell it to create a skill.
And when it creates a skill, it basically has a list of rules and guidelines that it's going to follow every single time. So you can see cut every pause, every fail take, caption, one line just under my chin. These are things that I would say to it.
Music 25 decibels under my voice. And obviously because I'm an editor, I would kind of know already like how many decibels on average I would put my music under my voice just to make it better. Like just so it's not too loud, but also not too quiet.
Text never covers my face. You know, simple commands like this. And if you don't do, this like sometimes the edits can just come out a bit messy which is why I say it's not as easy as just saying edit my video.
So Claude does the edit following the skill you will leave notes based on your editing review app at that exact second Claude will fix it it renders the new version and then you can say save this to the skill. I always say save it to the skill just to make sure that it saves it to the skill and it never messes up again. So here are my editing templates I'm also going to put the testimonials of what people say about the editing templates on screen obviously claude's editing this video so it's up to claude if he's going to put it on my left my right or do a full screen animation because there's actually a bunch of testimonials and they are actually amazing people are saving 10 to 15 hours every week the styles that people are coming up with with The cloud editing is amazing.
They didn't expect it to be so good. They just say it's just fire. Like it's game changing stuff, guys.
I've spent the last two, three weeks creating 20 plus templates and there's actually more on the way. So if you get this template pack before the door closes, you'll get the new templates as well. when they're available.
So you've got business reels, you've got personal reels, explainer reels. And what I really like is coaching call clips and YouTube clips, simply because you can take your YouTube videos and Claude will clip them, find the best part, and then do the captions, the graphics, everything that you need. You've got the split screen reel, you know, where you're at the top and then your graphics are at the bottom or screen recordings at the bottom.
You've got B -roll and stack text. This is where you... It will go through your B -roll library, use B -roll and then stack the text just like you see fitted captions.
You got image cluster, like there's just so much. There's going to be a link in the description to check all of that out. And there's examples on there.
There's a full website giving you more information. And of course, there's 30 new templates on the way as well. As I said, if you get this before it closes, you'll get the new templates too.
If you are too late, the link will take you to a waitlist. So when we reopen, there's probably going to be even more new templates and you can grab it there. With that being said, though, let's actually go into the live edit.
So I already airdropped the video onto my computer. I'm going to show you guys what it looks like real quick. So you can obviously see that there's mistakes.
It's not perfect. And what Claude will do to it. You can see it's four minutes long.
I fired my editor and I replaced him with Claude. I don't think I was happy with that. I fired my editor.
Yep. You see a lot of thought clearing, looking around, silent. My video was edited.
So now I can put that time into different things like servicing more clients or just spending time with family. Doing this and having Claude as my video editor has allowed me to post at least five trial reels every single day easily.
see i'm whispering to myself i'm unsure etc etc so what happens you're going to open claude you're going to be greeted with this screen a lot of people make the mistake of using claude chat slash call work because it's in one now what you need to do head over to the top left and go to code make sure you've got the desktop version go to code then all you need to do is for the very basics open a new tab a new session and you are going to drag the video By the way, you can do this in batches.
Like in the previous video, you can go check it out. I did like, I think I did eight at once and the other eight I did off camera because obviously like what the heck. Anyway, you drag the file here.
I will then paste in my prompt. I normally speak my prompt using Whisperflow, but because I said this is the second time doing the video, I already had the prompt and I just want to time it to see how long it actually takes. I use Opus High right now simply because I've switched from the $100 plan to $200 plan, not because I was running out of credits, but because I was doing a bunch of templates and I was like, because I'm doing these templates and doing extra things and trying to build extra things, I'm actually running low.
So I've switched and in fact, I've got nowhere near the limit. So I'm literally 50 % of my weekly limit which is absolutely insane so you can see I'm at 47 % this sessions on zero so you're gonna see how much credit and usage it actually takes up etc you can see the prompt right here I would say edit this video clearly I started to say too soon edit this video using my personal real style I want the captions and of course it will just use It will take my prompt, find the relevant skills.
I could also just type the slash command and type in personal. And you will see Ajne personal short form and then go from there. With that being said, I'm going to submit this.
Then I'll be back when it's done. So right now it's 1249. Let's just say 1250.
And we'll see how long. so that took about 30 minutes i was actually just doom scrolling on my phone went on to youtube watching a youtube video and it is now done it basically tells me everything that it's done but me i just open this here opens in the browser plane this is like my editing review app almost like frame .io so let's watch let's have a listen fired my editor and i replaced him with claude and now claude has gone on to edit this video this video this video this video and a okay so one thing that i would potentially change is i was pointing here but it didn't put it where my finger was pointing but it's not terrible in some cases people do do this so let's say i wanted to genuinely change that video i would just come here come over to the notes section and i would be like the b -roll and i would use whisperflow so for each b -roll video that you've put on to showcase my templates that you've edited each one should go where my finger is so they need to be smaller and where my finger is pointing they should go where the finger is you can keep how they're slightly rotated but yeah they should go where my finger is above my head
It's fine if they're slightly touching the top of my head, just don't make them directly cover my face like eyes, for example. So I would do that, press save note, and I'll continue watching the video. Video, this video, this video, and a bunch of other videos.
I like this animation here. One thing I would do, I don't like captions when I've got full screen animations. So I would come here and I would say...
When you've done full screen animations like this, don't add any captions to it. Then you just press save. No.
And over the last few weeks, I've been training Claude to edit in multiple different editing styles and also content formats that work really well on social media. And by doing this and having Claude as my video editor has allowed me to post at least five trial reels every single day easily. And of course, it saves me 10 hours every single day.
So I don't like the pacing here. In terms of trial reels, but then the trial reels disappeared straight away. But that's just me being nitpicky, in my opinion.
And of course, it saves me 10 hours every single week. So now I can put that time into different things like servicing more clients or just spending time with family. Claude has literally changed video editing and content creation forever.
And the easiest way to see all... So here, the text doesn't stay on screen for long enough. so when you're stacking the captions the big font that is ivy presto doesn't stay on screen for long enough so make sure that there's a little hang so even if the word has to come a little bit earlier so it can stay on screen just for a little bit longer so the viewer can actually read it do that Make sure you do that for the rest of the captions too.
And the easiest way to see all of this is I'm no longer the editor. I'm more so the director where I give the template and I give reviews on the edits if there's any reviews to make. And of course, this whole entire video was edited by Claude too.
So you can see how well or how bad Claude is at editing. By the way, if you want access to the 20 Claude editing templates that I've created. and a bunch of people have been using and loving comment template and i'll send you the link to it now so here i'm going to change this graphic because i don't know why i use this one change the graphic that you used here for my editing templates you can make this a full screen animation showcasing the 20 original and then the 30 new templates which are coming soon loving comment template using and loving comment template and i'll send you the link to it now doors close soon so if you don't get there in time you won't be able to purchase it but you'll be able to join the waitlist phone when we open next and also when i say people have been loving it use the highlighted testimonials that we've got yeah that is pretty much everything if i really wanted to i could say okay the text hook here is a bit too high move this a bit lower and that means you'll move the by the way that editor was me laughing emoji a bit lower too so i basically just go through do that make sure it's all good the zooms are there that's perfect 10 hours yeah that's cool i'm fine with that
Fine with that. One thing that I want to do to just showcase that Claude is super sick is right here where you say I'm talking about edited by Claude. I want you to put a Claude interface behind me.
So cut me out from the background, put a Claude interface behind me, make it animate in just like the depth UI. editing template would now i'm just showing you guys how capable it is now i've just got seven notes the music was the right level and editing styles and also content formats that work really well on social media and by doing this and having claudius my video editor has allowed me to post at least five trial reels every single day easily and of course it saves me 10 hours i mean i could make it a bit louder increase the music instrumental by two decibels and that's just me then i'll basically just press I could send notes to Claude if I wanted to do the notes, or I could approve and render the final.
So I would go to send notes to Claude. I can either copy it here by pressing Command -A, select all, then copy. Or I could just press send notes.
And Claude is listening, so it should. Yep, running command. Boom.
It's woke. It's read the listener. And you guys can see it took 2 % of my session usage.
I think it took 1 % of my weekly usage. So it's taken some percentage, but it's super fine. Honestly, that edit could have just went out.
So I don't think it's that bad. I'll come back with the final version and you guys can see how well it actually made the corrections. Okay, guys, and that's literally going to be the final version.
I already decided I'm not going to go back and forth. Man United kick off in about 15 minutes. So I'm gonna go watch that.
But this is literally, I'm pretty sure it's done a good job. i haven't watched it it's going to be the first time let's go fired my editor and i replaced him with claude and now claude has gone on to edit this video this video this video this video and a bunch of other videos and over the it literally did exactly what i pointed is put it there full screen animation with no text yeah there we go because there's just other pieces of text there i didn't want to get it like all confused and bunch of other videos and over the last few weeks i've been training claude to edit in multiple different editing styles and also content formats that work really well on social media and by doing this and having claude as my video editor has allowed me to post at least five trial reels every single day easily and of course it saves me 10 hours every single week so now i can put that time into different things like servicing more clients or just spending time with family claude has literally changed video editing
and content creation forever. And the easiest way to see all of this is I'm no longer the editor. I'm also the director where I give the template and I give reviews on the edits if there's any reviews to make.
And of course, this whole entire video was edited by Claude too. So you can see how well or how bad Claude is at editing. By the way, if you want access to the 20 Claude editing templates that I've created and a bunch of people have been using and loving, comment templates and I'll send you the link to it now.
I would only say this probably went a bit too fast. would say just keep it on screen but i'm not gonna doors close soon so if you don't get there in time you won't be able to purchase it but you'll be able to join the waitlist from when we open next yeah i'm going to press approve and final render and that's literally it guys now you might be like that's a lot of work for just one video dude what would happen is you would upload a batch of videos you know what style you want because you've probably created it or you've mixed a bunch of styles together and you would it would basically create those videos in parallel So it will do agents, sub -agents to cut all seven videos.
You do a sub -agent to get the graphics, sub -agent for the captions, sub -agents for all of that. And yes, it will take a bit longer. It's not going to be 30 minutes for all seven videos.
It might be like two and a half or three hours for seven videos. Fuck, I don't know. Like, we're not going to sit here and watch it.
That's not the point. The point is to set it so you can go off and do something else, do other work, go to the gym, etc. You set it, you come back.
you just give it a bunch of changes if there's any changes and then you upload it like that's literally it anyway i'm going to approve the final render here and i will see you guys in the next video if you want the pack there's a link in the description if you want a free ai editing skill and the setup so you can just put the file in and do your own thing there's a link for that too catch you in the next video
