Big Idea

The argument in one line.

Claude Duet is a proactive agent that messages you first, and its real edge over Grok Bot, ChatGPT Dots and Meta Muse is that it lives inside the Claude ecosystem you may already use.

Who This Is For

Read if. Skip if.

READ IF YOU ARE…
  • You already pay for Claude Pro or Max and want to know whether a proactive agent is worth joining the waitlist for.
  • You run a small business and want an assistant that watches your inbox, invoices and calendar without you prompting it.
  • You're deciding between Claude Duet, Grok Bot, ChatGPT Dots and Meta Muse as your daily AI agent.
SKIP IF…
  • You want hands-on results today. Duet is waitlist-only and US-only, and the creator hasn't tested it yet.
  • You need an agent that works with models from several providers, since Duet will likely stay Claude-only.
TL;DR

The full version, fast.

Claude Duet is Anthropic's personal AI agent for professionals and small business owners. It sends a short morning brief, watches your connected apps, and only pings you when something needs attention, using Claude Opus 5.5 to judge what can wait. It is included in Pro and Max, runs on iOS, Android and Claude.ai, and is US-only on a waitlist. It never sees your passwords, asks approval before sending, paying, signing or deleting, and works with 6,000-plus connectors. The catch is that background check-ins share your normal Claude usage limits.

Atomic Insights

Lines worth screenshotting.

  • Claude Duet flips the usual chat model: instead of you prompting the AI, it checks your connected apps and messages you only when something needs attention.
  • Duet is built on Claude Opus 5.5, which decides what needs you now, what can wait, and when to check with you before acting.
  • Duet never directly sees your passwords or sign-in tokens, and it refuses to share credit card numbers or government IDs.
  • Health and personal finance details only get sent when you've explicitly told Duet to send them.
  • Duet shows you what it's about to do and waits for approval before sending a message, making a payment, signing a document or deleting anything.
  • Some actions stay off limits even with approval, including trading stocks and moving money between your accounts.
  • Duet checks your connected accounts every few hours instead of constantly, because non-stop polling would burn through usage limits.
  • Duet's background check-ins count against the same usage limits as the rest of Claude, so heavy Claude users may hit caps faster.
  • Duet runs in one ongoing thread, so a quick question and a week-long project start in the same place, unlike Grok Bot's separate agents per job.
  • The pattern is clear: Grok Bot in August, Meta Muse in September, ChatGPT Dots in October, now Duet, and always-on pocket agents look like the next default way to use AI.
Takeaway

What Duet changes and what it costs

WHAT TO LEARN

Duet moves AI from answering your questions to watching your apps and speaking up first, at the price of shared usage limits and a waitlist.

  • Duet targets professionals and small business owners, and comes with Pro or Max at no extra charge, though access is waitlist-only and US-only for now.
  • The value is the morning brief and selective pings: Opus 5.5 decides what needs you now and what can wait.
  • Safety rests on three layers: no direct sight of passwords or tokens, refusal to share the strictest data, and approval before sending, paying, signing or deleting.
  • Existing Claude users get memory, skills and connected apps carried over, so setup is close to zero.
  • Background check-ins and big tasks share your normal Claude limits, so heavy users should expect to hit caps sooner.
  • Single-thread design versus Grok Bot's per-job agents is the open question that could decide which platform fits your workflow.

Anthropic just dropped their own personal AI agent and it's going up against Grockbot, Chachapiti Dots, and Metamuse. It's called Claude Duet, and it's a more intuitive way for you to use AI where it can work for you and communicate like a real teammate would. In this quick video, I'm going to break down exactly what it does, who can use it, and the one catch you should know about.
We're also going to look at one big difference between Anthropic and Grockbot that I think is going to matter a lot. So without further ado, let's dive right in. Alright, so let's go through the actual article that Anthropic put out starting at the very top.
Anthropic says they built Claude Duet for professionals and small business owners who have more on their plates than they can track. So this is really aimed at people running a business, not just developers like Claude Cote. It's a standalone app on iPhone and Android, and you could also use it on Claude .ai.
Now for this research preview, it's included in the Pro and Max plans. so you will need to be on a paid plan to access this. So if you're already paying for Claude, you're not going to have to pay anything extra, but right now it is only a waitlist and it's only in the United States.
Next up is a part that I think probably matters the most, which Anthropic calls putting your attention where it matters most. Each morning, Duet sends you a short brief on the most important tasks across the apps that you've connected. Then throughout the day, it keeps tabs on those apps and only messages you when something actually needs your attention.
So instead of us going to Claude and giving it a question or a task, it's going to be more proactive. Anthropic also said that it's built on Claude Opus 5 .5 and that's a model that's going to decide what needs you, what can wait, and when to check with you first before going and doing something.
Now let's talk about some examples Anthropic showed in their launch video. First, they showed a coffee shop owner getting told that their new location opens in 26 days and she still hasn't filed her health permit. Duet drafts it for her and also tells her that a client renewal can wait until Monday.
You can also hand it a bigger task like building dashboards, sales forecasts, or even web apps. Now, I do want to be transparent here because this part isn't brand new. Chachapiti Dots and Grokba and Metamuse already can do things like this, but the thing that's different about this is this is now directly inside of the Anthropic and Cloud ecosystem.
So if you are an avid Cloud user, you're using Cloud Code or these different Cloud products, then this is for you. Next up, I want to talk about safety, which is a really big deal for something that's going to be reading your emails and all the different applications that you use. Anthropic says that Claude Duet never directly sees your passwords or any of your sign -in tokens.
And they added a new safety check that refuses to share anything like credit card numbers or government IDs. Other sensitive information like your health and personal finances only get sent when you've specifically told Duet to send it. They also had red teams in an outside firm try to break into it, which I think is pretty reassuring.
if you're gonna hand it your inbox. Now my favorite part of these release articles is actually seeing how people are using this product. So the guy who created Claude Code called Boris talks through his to -do list with Duet while he's out on walks instead of saving it all for his desk.
A real estate broker said that one morning, without her even asking, it flagged a property showing that was on her calendar for the wrong day. And a restaurant owner with 110 employees has been using it for accounting, customer support, and marketing. Alright, so now I want to get into how exactly it works.
because this is where the anthropic part really matters. Duet carries over your memory, your skills, and the apps you're already connected to from your Claude account. So if you're already using Claude, there's pretty much no setup.
And I think this is the most important thing about this release because all this now lives directly inside of the Anthropic ecosystem. And again, if you're already using Cloud Code and their other products, this is going to be a great fit for you. Now, one thing I do want to point out is that you talk to Duet in one ongoing thread by typing or with your voice.
So a quick question in a week -long project, both start in the same place. So it's going to be really interesting to see if Anthropic lets you have multiple agents like you can inside of Grokbot. And that's actually one of the reasons why I...
I genuinely love using the Grokbot platform because I could have specific agents for specific jobs that communicate with each other and work together. And this way I can break up the different tasks that I have. So if I want to do anything invoice related, I could go to that specific invoice agent.
And this way, all of my different conversations don't bleed together. On top of all of this, it also has its own computer in the cloud with its own browser. So it doesn't need your phone or your laptop to be on in order to keep working.
And again, this is something very similar that Grokbot and... Amuse, Chachapiti Dots all have in common. It basically goes and checks your connected accounts every few hours instead of non -stop because if it was doing this non -stop it would burn through your limits.
a lot faster, obviously. And before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document, or deletes anything, it shows you what exactly it's about to do and waits for your approval. Now, there are a few things that are off limits, even if you approve them, like trading stocks or moving money between your different accounts.
Next up, this works with over 6 ,000 plus connectors and plugins, and Anthropic gives a bunch of examples for running a business. So it can check QuickBooks or Stripe for unpaid invoices and even draft the reminders. It can prepare your payroll inside of Gusto.
or even get a contract ready to sign inside of DocuSign. Alright, so this brings us to the catch, which is right at the bottom of the article. Duet shares your usage limits with the rest of Claude, and its background check -ins count towards those limits.
Bigger tasks like building a deck or a financial model use even more of your tokens. So if you're already running into your Claude limits, this is probably going to eat them even quicker. But one thing I do want to point out is since I've been using Claude Opus 5 .5, it's really efficient at spending my tokens.
so it's actually not eating through nearly as much as it used to when I use Claude inside of Claude code for even the really complex workflows that I'm running. So I want to talk about all the other AI agents right now. Grokbot came out back in August, then Meta launched Muse in September, and OpenAI announced Chachapiti Dots inside of Chachapiti just a couple weeks ago.
And now we have Claude Duet. I don't think it's rocket science to think that this is going to be the future of how we use AI. Basically having an always -on assistant that lives inside of our pocket on our phone that we can communicate with instead of having to be at our computer to get work done for us.
So now it really just boils down to which one of these platforms you're actually going to use. Now, personally, I've been using Grokbot as my main daily driver over the last two months, and it has completely changed how I work from my computer. I've been using it every single day.
I have it replying to basically all of my emails for me. It has saved me so much time and so much headache. For me personally, I don't even know if I'm going to switch from Grokbot to this new Claude Duet because I've just really been enjoying the experience with Grokbot.
And one of the things that makes Grokbot really interesting is that it doesn't only work with the Grok models because earlier this month, Elon posted that Grokbot is going to use the best model for any given task and one of the models he named was Claude Opus 5 .5. Now to be fair, Elon's post is the only official source on this so far.
So we don't really know which models are being used inside of Grokbot for these different tasks, but Elon said that they are going to be implementing this. And I think it's going to be really interesting to see if Anthropic does the exact same thing inside of Duet. but I doubt they're going to allow you to use any of the other companies' models.
Anyways, as of right now, this is not rolled out to anybody. You do have to join a waitlist, so I went ahead and joined the waitlist. As soon as I get access, I'm going to make a video on this, breaking it down, comparing it to Grokbot, and giving my honest thoughts on which one I like better.
If you enjoyed this video and you want to see the next one, make sure to subscribe to this channel. Thanks for staying to the end, and I'll see you in the next one. Cheers.
