Big Idea

The argument in one line.

Claude Motion builds animations from code instead of pixels, so any word, color, or timing can be edited without regenerating the clip, and Claude Code with Remotion offers the same approach without Motion's Team or Enterprise restriction.

Who This Is For

Read if. Skip if.

READ IF YOU ARE…
  • You have a Claude Team or Enterprise plan and want to know exactly what the new Motion tool does before you open it.
  • You make explainer or promo videos and want an editable, code-based alternative to regenerating an entire AI video clip for one small change.
  • You're on a Claude Pro or Max plan and want a free way to get the same code-based animation workflow through Claude Code and Remotion.
SKIP IF…
  • You need photorealistic AI video footage. Claude Motion only animates text, shapes, charts, and images, it can't generate realistic photos or video on its own.
  • You're already running Claude Code with Remotion for animated videos. This covers the same ground as an introduction, not a new technique.
TL;DR

The full version, fast.

Claude just launched Motion, a tool that turns a text prompt into an animated video directly inside Claude. Unlike AI video generators that repaint every frame from scratch, Motion writes the animation as code, so a wrong word, a color, or a scene length can be fixed without regenerating the whole clip. The video builds a 20-second paper-style bike commercial, edits it live with the Tweaks panel and inline comments, then blends it with Higgsfield, a sponsor, to turn the paper animation into a premium paper-to-real sequence. Motion is beta-only on Team and Enterprise plans; Pro and Max users get the same code-based workflow for free through Claude Code paired with Remotion.

Atomic Insights

Lines worth screenshotting.

  • Claude Motion turns a text prompt into an animated video built from code, not generated pixels, right inside the Claude artifacts panel.
  • Because Motion writes code instead of painting pixels, changing one word, color, or timing only touches that piece, the rest of the animation stays exactly as it was.
  • Traditional AI video tools like Seedance 2.5 regenerate the entire clip from scratch for any single change, which is why Motion's code-based approach is structurally different.
  • Motion can only animate text, shapes, charts, and images, it cannot generate realistic photos or video on its own.
  • The Tweaks panel surfaces every editable value in a video, text, section length, speed, section count, scoped to wherever the playhead currently sits.
  • A dedicated comment tool lets you click any element with no visible text, like a sun in a scene, and type a plain-language change for Claude to apply to just that piece.
  • Motion doesn't cost anything extra on a qualifying plan, but every animation counts against normal usage limits, and longer, more complex animations use more credits.
  • Blending Motion with Higgsfield, a connected AI video and image platform, turns a flat paper-style animation into a premium paper-to-real sequence inside the same Claude chat.
  • Connecting Higgsfield to Claude takes six steps through MCP: copy the Higgsfield MCP address, add it as a custom connector in Claude under Customize, and authenticate.
  • Claude Motion is currently beta-only, on by default for Team plans and admin-enabled for Enterprise, with no access yet for Pro or Max subscribers.
  • Claude Code paired with Remotion, a free code-to-video library, gives Pro and Max users the same prompt-to-animation workflow Motion offers on higher-tier plans.
  • Remotion processes video on your own computer instead of in the cloud, so edits take a little longer to request through Claude Code than they do in Motion.
  • Remotion is free for individuals and requires a company license only for commercial use inside a larger organization.
Takeaway

Claude Motion edits like code, not video

CLAUDE MOTION BASICS

Claude Motion treats an animation as editable code instead of a generated clip, so single-piece fixes, premium blending, and a free Claude Code alternative all follow from that one design choice.

02What Claude Motion is and where to find it
  • Claude Motion lives inside Claude's Artifacts panel, accessed through a new Motion button next to Dashboard; the prompt goes on the left and the live build appears on the right.
  • At its simplest, Motion just turns a written prompt into an animation, no separate video editor or render queue to learn first.
03Building a paper bike commercial
  • A good Motion prompt is specific about style (paper cutout, stop-motion look) and was co-written with Claude through back-and-forth rather than typed in one shot.
  • Opus 5.5 was the model used for the build, with an adjustable effort level for more or less compute per animation.
  • The build isn't instant. Motion lays out frames first, then renders, so expect a short wait before the first preview plays.
04How Claude Motion works (code, not pixels)
  • Pixel-based AI video tools repaint every frame from scratch for any prompt, which is great for photoreal footage but means a single wrong word forces a full regeneration.
  • Motion instead writes code that defines where each element sits, its color, its animation, and how long it stays on screen, then plays that code back as video.
  • Because the output is code, Motion can't create realistic photos or video on its own, it can only animate text, shapes, charts, and images.
05The finished commercial
  • A 20-second paper-style commercial built piece by piece (bike assembly, a rider past mountains, feature callouts, a closing tagline) shows what one detailed prompt can produce in a single pass.
  • The result shows Motion operates at full-scene complexity in one pass, multiple sequential beats rather than a single static animation.
06Editing your video with Tweaks
  • The Tweaks panel surfaces every editable value in the current section, text, timing, speed, so a number like '21 speeds' can become '100 speeds' with a single field edit, not a new prompt.
  • Edits through Tweaks apply instantly and only touch the piece you changed, the rest of the animation stays exactly as it was.
07Changing anything with comments
  • For elements with no visible text, like a sun in the sky, a comment tool lets you click the object directly and describe the change in plain language.
  • Claude scopes that edit to just the commented element; switching a daytime scene to a moonlit night-time didn't touch anything else in the clip.
08Sharing and exporting
  • A finished animation can be shared directly to a person or exported as a GIF or video, with resolution, frame rate, and quality all selectable before export.
  • Export settings are chosen at the end, not baked into the prompt, so the same animation can be re-exported at different specs without rebuilding it.
09What it costs
  • Motion doesn't carry a separate price tag, it's included on a qualifying plan, but every animation still counts against normal usage limits.
  • Longer and more complex animations use more plan credits, so cost scales with how ambitious the prompt is, not a flat per-video fee.
10Making it premium with Higgsfield
  • A pure code-based animation can look flat; blending in real video and images from a connected tool is what pushes a Motion build from demo to premium-feeling explainer.
  • The upgrade happens inside the same Claude chat, a new prompt asking for a blend of paper animation and real footage is enough to trigger the mixed result.
11Connecting Higgsfield to Claude
  • Higgsfield connects to Claude through MCP: copy its MCP address from Higgsfield's own site, then add it as a custom connector under Claude's Customize settings and authenticate once.
  • Once connected, Claude can call Higgsfield directly inside a Motion prompt, no separate app switching required for each generation.
12The paper-to-real result
  • The blended sequence opens on Claude Motion's paper style and transitions each shot, phone, rocket, city, laptop, into real Higgsfield-generated footage while the on-screen text and animation stay code-based and still editable.
  • Every photoreal shot in the sequence came from Higgsfield; every piece of text and animation layered on top stayed Claude Motion, and the text stayed as editable as it was before the blend.
13Plans and availability
  • Motion is beta-only: on by default for Team plans, admin-enabled for Enterprise, and not yet available at all on Pro or Max.
  • Availability is plan-gated, not feature-gated: the underlying capability doesn't change between Team and Enterprise, only who has to flip the switch to turn it on.
14The alternative: Claude Code + Higgsfield + Remotion
  • Claude Code paired with Remotion, a free code-to-video library, reproduces Motion's core idea, code instead of pixels, for anyone without Team or Enterprise access.
  • Remotion also connects to Higgsfield, so the same real-footage blending trick works outside of Motion too.
15Setting up Remotion
  • Remotion installs as a Claude plugin (Customize to Plugins, search Remotion, Add) or directly from the terminal, which is the faster, recommended path.
  • Terminal installation is the creator's own recommended path over the plugin-marketplace click, likely because it avoids an extra UI hop for a one-time setup.
16Remotion demo
  • The same plain-language prompting style works with Remotion through Claude Code, describing a clock tower morphing into a rocket ship was enough to produce the animation, no manual code written by hand.
  • Labeling the output 'made with Remotion, not Claude Motion' on screen signals the two tools are easy to confuse once you're just watching the result, not the workflow.
17Claude Motion vs Remotion
  • Motion runs entirely in the cloud inside Claude; Remotion processes on your own computer, which adds setup time but gives you your own standalone video editor if you want it.
  • Both tools build video from code rather than pixels, so the core editing advantage, change one piece without touching the rest, carries over either way.
Glossary

Terms worth knowing.

Claude Motion

So Claude just dropped a Claude Motion and everything that you're looking at right now was made with that tool, along with every single animation that you're going to see in this video. Along the way, I'm going to show you what Claude Motion is. I'm going to show you how to get started and I'm going to explain how this thing works in really simple terms.
I'm also going to show you how you can make this look even significantly more premium. And at the end, you'll see an alternative that you can start using today, even if you don't have Claude Motion yet. With that said, let's go ahead and get started with what Claude Motion actually is.
So simply put, Claude motion turns a prompt into an animation. So to find it, you're going to go right into Claude and you're going to click on artifacts.
And then right here at the top, you're going to see two new buttons. One is dashboard and the other one is motion. When you click on motion, this is what you're going to see to the left is where you're going to put your prompt and where you're going to talk to Claude.
Then on the right is where you're going to start building and editing your video. So let's go ahead and jump in and build one. So let's say that I want to build a 20 second animated commercial.
for a bike company. And I want this to look extremely unique. And because of that, I'm going to ask Claude to make us a Claude motion animation.
And I'm going to tell it that everything needs to look like it was made out of paper and it needs to look like a stop motion film. Now for the prompt, you do want it to be very detailed. And I didn't type all of this in.
Of course, I worked with Claude. I gave it my ideas. We went back and forth and then it ended up giving me a very detailed prompt for me to use.
And this was based on everything that we talked about. Now, right underneath. prompt box is where you could choose the model that you want to use i am going to stick with opus 5 .5 i think that's the best model for this but you could go ahead and change that you could also change the effort level if you wanted to but i like what i have here so i'm going to hit go now take a look at the right hand side claude is starting to lay out the frames at the bottom but if i click this little play button right here nothing is going to happen and that's because nothing has been built yet this does take a little while to build out And while this is building out, I think it's really important for us to go over what Claude is actually doing here because Claude Motion is different than AI generated video.
Most video tools that are using AI, they work by generating pixels. So when you give it a prompt and you use a tool like Cdance 2 .5, it's going to paint every frame by scratch. And that's really awesome when you want footage that looks.
absolutely real. But if you want to change one word on the screen, you have to generate the whole clip again. And sometimes it's really hard to get that exact same look back.
But with motion, Claude is writing code instead of generating pixels. And that code says exactly where every word goes. It also says what color it is and what the animation looks like and how long it stays on the screen.
And then that code plays back like a video. So what does that mean for you? Well, that means that every single piece of the video that Clawed Motion makes is something that you can change.
So if a word is wrong, you can just fix the word. If the scene is too long, you can shorten the scene. And when you do that, everything else in the video is going to stay exactly how it was before.
And this makes you the editor of the video. You're going to have Claw do all the heavy lifting as it creates the video, but then you're going to come back in at the end and get the final word on every single frame that it creates. So since Clawed Motion is creating code, it can't create realistic photos or videos.
What it can do is animate text and shapes and charts and images and everything else that you're seeing on the screen right now. Okay, so the paper bike video commercial is done. And take a look.
I think it looks really good. It builds out the bike piece by piece. The rider takes it out past the paper mountains.
And then features drop in on little paper tags. And it ends on the bike name and says, get out and ride. This looks really cool.
Now take a look at the bottom right down here. There is a button called Tweaks. And when you click on Tweaks, it's gonna show you every single thing that you can change in the video.
And what you can change depends on where you're at in the video. For example, right here it says bike name. Now I'm going to change that to O 'Brien's bike and watch the video.
It is going to change instantly. Now anything with text on here works the same way. As you scroll back through the video, every word on the screen is going to show up right here for you to edit.
If you wanted to say 100 speeds instead of 21, you're just going to type in 100 and it updates right there on the screen. You can also change how many seconds each section has. You can also change how fast things move.
You can change how many sections that it has. But what if there's one thing that you want to change that doesn't have any words on it? Well, take a look at this little comment button up here.
When you click it, you're able to click on anything in the video. And in this case, I'm going to click on the sun. And I'm going to tell it that it's actually supposed to be nighttime and it's supposed to be lit by the moon.
And so when I hit enter, you can see on the left, Claude is starting to work on that change for me. And it's only working on that particular piece. And when it's done, we can click play.
And now you can see that the writing is happening at night and the moon comes up instead of the sun. But everything else in the video stayed exactly the same. So when you're done editing and you like what you have here, you can share this really easily.
First, you can send it to a specific person. right here. And if you look all the way down at the bottom, you can export it as a GIF, or you can export it as a video.
And then you get to pick the resolution, you get to pick the frame rate, and you get to pick the quality, and then you hit export. And from there, it's going to save right onto your computer. Now, one thing to think about when it comes to cost, motion doesn't cost anything extra to have, right?
If you have the plan, then you get it. But every animation that you make is going to count towards your plan limits. And the longer that the animation is, and the more complex it is, the more credits it's going to use.
Just makes sense. Now back to this paper commercial, I think it looks really good, but sometimes you need something to look significantly more premium than what we actually have right here. And it's easy to do, but before I show you how to do that, if this video has been helpful so far, please subscribe and like the video and leave a comment.
It really helps out the channel and it's something that I really appreciate. But let's jump into that tool that I use every day and show you how you can make this look significantly more premium. To make a really good explainer video, you need to blend Claude Motion animations with real video and real images.
Now, full disclosure here, I did reach out to Higgs Field to see if they wanted to partner on this video and sponsor it, which they are. And Higgs Field is the perfect tool and partner for this because I pretty much use them for everything on this channel anyway, which includes all the animations that are in my videos. But let me show you the power of Higgs Field and Claude Motion working together before we even jump into anything else.
Take a look at this scene where it's transitioning from paper. to real. We have mixed Claude Motion with Higgs Field, and now they are working together to create this premium scene.
If you've never heard of Higgs Field before, one thing you should know is that it has every major AI and video model all in one place. And the reason why I like it so much is because it integrates perfectly into Claude. And because it integrates perfectly, you can just put a new prompt into Cloud Motion whenever you're asking it to create a scene and they are going to be mixed together.
Now, again, this is a longer prompt. I worked with Cloud to make sure that it's the right prompt for this, but it's basically saying that I wanted to make a new paper animation that turns. paper into real life.
And I wanted to use a blend of Higgs field and Claude motion to make this happen. So let's go ahead and click enter and see what we get. Now, as that's going, just know that Claude is going to ask your permission to use Higgs field a few times.
And if you've never connected to Higgs field before, it is really easy to do. And let me show you how. First, you're going to go to Higgs field's website and click on MCP and MCP is just a way to plug an outside tool into Claude.
And when you click on it, you're going to click on the Claude section. And then you can copy the MCP address that is right here. Then when you go back into Claude, you're going to click on customize.
Then you're going to click on connectors. Then you're going to click on add connector and then pick add custom connector. And all you have to do is name it Higgs field and paste in that address right there and hit continue.
And you're going to authenticate and you'll be done. Now, because you did that, Claude can now talk to Higgs field without you ever having to leave the chat. And Hicksfield can do so much more than just create images and video for your animations.
I really do encourage you to check out their website because it is really impressive and they do give you pre -made prompts that you could use. And pretty much any viral AI video that you've seen right now can be made inside of Hicksfield. It is pretty cool.
Just play around with it for a little bit and you'll see how cool it is. But let's go ahead and check back on our video. Okay, looks like it's done.
And take a look at this. It opens up on Claude Motion from Paper. to real.
Then it goes to a paper phone that turns into a real phone right in front of you. Then it goes to a rocket lifting off and then paper buildings that are turning into a real city. And then a paper laptop that turns into a real one where someone's typing, make a rocket for me.
And then it finishes with a graph. right here. Every real looking shot that you saw in this video came from Higgs field.
And then all of the text and animation that came on top of it was clawed motion. And because it's still in clawed motion, you can still go back and change any word that you want, but now you can see the power of blending them together. Now, Cloud Motion is still in beta, and right now it's only on team and enterprise plans.
If you're on a team plan, then it's already turned on for you. If you're on an enterprise plan, your admin has to turn it on for you. But if you're on a pro or max plan, you can't actually use motion yet, but you still can make some really great animations like this.
It's actually how I've been making animation since my very first video on this channel. And it's because I use three things, Cloud Code, Pigsfield, and Remotion. Remotion is a tool that makes videos out of code.
which is the same thing that Claude Motion does. Now, it is free for most people. If you're a bigger company and you're using it for company work, then you do need a company license, but it's free to use outside of that.
You do need Claude Code to run it, and Claude Code does come with the Pro and Max plans. To set it up, it's pretty easy. You're going to open up Claude, you're going to click on Customize, you're going to go to Plugins, and you're going to search for Remotion.
And once you find it, you're just going to click Add. You can also install it directly inside of your terminal, which is what I recommend. And I'll put those steps inside of...
the video description below and then you're just going to ask for what you want like we've been doing for example you can type in something like build me an animation of a clock tower that is paper and it morphs into a rocket ship and make sure that you use remotion and take a look at that we have a clock tower that turns into a rock ship and it blasts off and just so we're clear here this was made with remotion not clawed motion Now, one of the biggest differences here is that Cloud Motion is built right inside of Cloud.
And then everything is processed in the cloud. ReMotion uses your own computer to process the video. And there is a little bit more of a setup.
Now, it does have its own editor. So if you want to use that, you can. But most of the time, when you want to change something, you're asking Cloud to change it, which does take a little bit longer.
And when you use ReMotion inside of Cloud Code, it also works with Higgs field. So you're good to go there. And remember, ReMotion uses code instead of pixels to create the video.
just like clawed motion. So you should give it a try if you don't have clawed motion yet. So that brings us to the end of the video.
And remember this, Cloud Motion turns your prompt into an animated video right inside of Cloud. And you can edit every single piece of it because it's just code. When you mix in Higgs field, that's when you get that premium video look.
And remember, Motion is only available on Team and Enterprise plans right now. So if you're on a Pro and Max plan and don't have access to it yet, Remotion and Cloud Code will do something very similar. Now you don't have to build out a full commercial today.
You can start with one small animation. You can change one word on it and see what happens. It's really easy to use but it is so powerful if you like this video Please like it subscribe and leave a comment and I will see you in the next one
The Hook

The bait, then the rug-pull.

Claude just shipped Motion, a beta tool that turns a prompt into an animated video built entirely from code. Tristen O'Brien opens by using it to build every animation in this video, then spends eleven minutes showing how it works, how to edit it after the fact, and how to make it look premium with a sponsor integration.
