Big Idea

The argument in one line.

OpenAI's DevDay 2026 turns ChatGPT into a distribution channel of its own, so marketers who package a workflow as a discoverable plugin or marketplace listing now get the same compounding head start early SEO winners got on Google.

Who This Is For

Read if. Skip if.

READ IF YOU ARE…
  • A marketing agency owner or in-house marketer who already runs workflows, bots, or tools and wants a distribution channel beyond Google search.
  • Someone building software with an existing API who wants to get listed on OpenAI's plugin ecosystem or enterprise Marketplace before it gets crowded.
  • A marketer already running or considering ChatGPT ads who wants to know what to rank for first.
SKIP IF…
  • You don't have an existing workflow, bot, or product to package. This is about distribution for something that already works, not about building it from scratch.
  • Your clients or business have no touchpoint with software or APIs at all.
TL;DR

The full version, fast.

OpenAI's DevDay 2026 gives marketers new ways to get discovered inside ChatGPT itself instead of relying only on Google. Plugins are relaunching as an app-store-style platform with better creation, submission, and discovery tools, so ranking early compounds the same way early SEO rankings did. Sign in with ChatGPT lets a user's existing plan usage carry into partner tools like Devin, Notion, and Vercel. The enterprise Marketplace is a separate procurement channel already listing companies like Lovable, Vercel, and Harvey. The Decisions API and Agents API, with Codex-powered computer use, let a packaged workflow act like a real agent instead of a chatbot. The actionable move: package an existing workflow as a plugin plus an agent, get listed now, then layer ChatGPT ads on top.

Chapters

Where the time goes.

00:00 – 00:34

01 · Why marketers should care

OpenAI has new distribution channels launching, including Dots, which ships free inside ChatGPT Pro and is already wired into Slack and Microsoft Teams.

00:34 – 02:26

02 · Plugin discovery

ChatGPT plugins are relaunching as an app-store-like platform with better creation, submission, and discovery tools; ranking early compounds, and a friend in the legal space already bought a top-ranked plugin outright.

02:26 – 02:59

03 · Sign in with ChatGPT

A new sign-in method lets a user's existing ChatGPT plan usage carry across 16 partner products, including Cognition's Devin, Notion, and Vercel.

02:59 – 03:28

04 · Single Grain

Sponsor plug for his own agency, Single Grain, an AI-native marketing services firm delivering AEO, SEO, outbound, and creative workflows through Slack and Teams.

03:28 – 03:46

05 · A LinkedIn advertising workflow

Uses Carrot, his LinkedIn account-based marketing tool, as an example of an existing workflow that could plug into this ecosystem.

03:46 – 04:11

06 · The enterprise Marketplace

OpenAI's enterprise Marketplace is a separate procurement channel from plugin discovery; companies like Lovable, Vercel, Legora, Harvey, Runway, and Sierra are already listed.

04:11 – 04:58

07 · A broader discoverability playbook

Argues marketers with an AEO/SEO background can't just keep thinking about Google; agencies working with software clients need to get those clients listed now.

04:58 – 05:17

08 · Decisions API

A new API runs real-time decisions through a cheaper model against a fixed set of predefined answers, used to classify content, route requests, or choose an agent's action.

05:17 – 06:32

09 · Agents API and computer use

Codex-powered computer use lets an agent operate a UI with no API, like logging into a LinkedIn account; Codex adds multi-agent capabilities, tool search, and context compaction.

06:32 – 07:18

10 · Package a useful workflow

The play: take an existing bot or workflow, package it as a plugin plus an agent with computer use, and get it into the marketplace; cites Sierra, HyperAgent, Legora, and Harvey as examples already doing this.

07:18 – 07:47

11 · AEO, SEO and paid media

Closes by tying it to paid media: ChatGPT ads are already live, so get listed and ranking first, then layer paid distribution on top.

Atomic Insights

Lines worth screenshotting.

  • ChatGPT is relaunching plugins as an app-store-like platform, complete with creation tools, a submission flow, and discovery ranking.
  • Dots ships free inside a ChatGPT Pro subscription and is already wired into Slack and Microsoft Teams.
  • Sign in with ChatGPT lets a user's existing plan allowance carry across partner products, including Devin, Notion, and Vercel, instead of requiring separate billing.
  • Ranking first inside ChatGPT's plugin ecosystem compounds the same way ranking first on Google search used to.
  • Buying an already top-ranked plugin from another developer is now a real, faster shortcut into ChatGPT's built-in distribution.
  • OpenAI's enterprise Marketplace is a separate procurement channel from plugin discovery, and companies like Lovable, Vercel, Legora, and Harvey are already listed there.
  • The Decisions API routes real-time choices through a cheaper model against a fixed set of predefined answers, useful for classifying content or picking an agent's next action.
  • OpenAI's Agents API adds computer use through Codex, letting an agent operate a graphical interface that has no API at all, like logging into LinkedIn.
  • A workflow only becomes marketplace-ready once it's packaged as both a plugin and an agent capable of computer use.
  • Since ChatGPT ads are already live, getting discovered inside ChatGPT's ecosystem is the new SEO and AEO move to make before paid media even enters the picture.
Takeaway

ChatGPT Is Becoming Its Own App Store

AI DISTRIBUTION SHIFT

OpenAI's DevDay turns ChatGPT into a discovery engine of its own, and the marketers who package a workflow as a plugin or marketplace listing now get the same compounding edge early SEO winners had.

01Why marketers should care
  • OpenAI's Dots ships automatically inside a ChatGPT Pro subscription and already plugs into Slack and Microsoft Teams, so distribution starts before you build anything.
  • New distribution channels inside ChatGPT itself are opening up alongside the usual product announcements, and marketers who notice them first get a head start.
02Plugin discovery
  • ChatGPT plugins are being relaunched as an app-store-style platform with better creation, submission, and discovery tools after an earlier version that didn't take off.
  • Ranking first inside a plugin discovery system compounds over time the same way early search rankings do, so early movers keep the advantage.
  • Buying a plugin that's already ranking well from another developer is a real, faster path into ChatGPT's built-in audience than building and ranking one from scratch.
03Sign in with ChatGPT
  • Sign in with ChatGPT lets a user's existing plan allowance carry across partner products like Devin, Notion, and Vercel instead of requiring separate billing for each tool.
  • Integrating with a user's existing ChatGPT plan removes a purchase-friction step that used to require a brand-new signup or subscription.
05A LinkedIn advertising workflow
  • An existing tool doesn't need to be rebuilt to fit this ecosystem; a working workflow like a LinkedIn ad customization tool can be wrapped and offered the same way.
06The enterprise Marketplace
  • OpenAI's enterprise Marketplace is a separate procurement channel from plugin discovery, and companies like Lovable, Vercel, Legora, and Harvey are already listed there.
  • Getting listed on a new marketplace early functions the same way early app-store placement did: it's a discoverability advantage that's harder to get once the space fills up.
07A broader discoverability playbook
  • Treating ChatGPT the way you'd treat Google is the mistake; people are already spending time inside it, so a strategy that only optimizes for traditional search misses where attention is moving.
  • Agencies working with software clients should be pushing those clients toward marketplace and plugin listings now, not waiting for the space to mature.
08Decisions API
  • The Decisions API runs real-time choices through a smaller, cheaper model against a fixed set of predefined answers, a cheap way to classify content or route a request without a full model call.
09Agents API and computer use
  • Codex's computer-use capability lets an agent operate a graphical interface directly, so a workflow that needs to log into a tool with no API, like a LinkedIn account, can still be automated.
  • Multi-agent orchestration, tool search, and context compaction from Codex are meant to be added directly into an application, not just used standalone.
10Package a useful workflow
  • A workflow becomes marketplace-ready once it's packaged as both a plugin and an agent with computer-use access, not just a script running in the background.
  • The end goal is consolidation: take every working bot or workflow a business already runs and package them together rather than treating each as a separate one-off tool.
11AEO, SEO and paid media
  • ChatGPT ads are already live, so the same discoverability work that gets a product listed can be immediately backed with paid media once it's working.
  • The sequence that matters: get listed and ranked first, then use paid media to amplify distribution that's already proven, not the other way around.

metaphor
So OpenAI has some crazy things coming out and I want to talk about what it means for you as a marketer. So they have dots coming out, but more importantly, there are some new distribution channels that are coming out. There are some new things that you can build as a marketer.
I'm going to give you a few examples here. And the first thing that you see on the screen right now is dots. So interesting thing is it's included with your, your, uh, your, your pro subscription and they've already enabled it where you can put it into Slack, right?
So you can put it into Slack and put it into Microsoft teams. And so people already in. inherently trust OpenAI, whether you agree with that or not, they trust OpenAI and ChatGP is making a big comeback when it comes to plugins, right?
And so plugins right here, you can see that, you know, they are... They're opening this platform to build with ChatGPT features so developers can create their own experience with plugins. So this is kind of their app store.
Plugins haven't done that well before, but they're doubling down and they're tripling down on this. And so they have improved plugin creation, submission, and discovery. So they're trying to make it easy for people to discover these plugins.
And they have this plugin creator now, and then sites can now host these. And then you have these MCP events for plugin automation. So the whole idea here is that if your plugin gets discovered like an app, it's going to...
you're if you're number one for a long time you're gonna it's the gift that keeps on giving right um you can also add supported chat to your plugins to the sites that you build and so they're going harder now on customizations for for plugins and so i think if i don't think i know uh because now anybody can build anything if you can actually have a plugin that fits into uh that plugs into your business then it's going to be a good thing right so i i think this plus bots are going to play in hand in hand.
So you can have your bot linking with a plugin and you can try to make it more discoverable that way. I actually have a friend, let's just say he's in the legal space and he picked up a few plugins. He actually bought a few plugins from people that were already ranking number one on ChatGPD.
So if you're thinking about doing this, you should be doing it. And I'm thinking about how we would apply this probably to a lot of the workflows that we have already that are working well. it's probably the agents that we have, right?
And so to me, maybe the plugin, if it's ranking well, it flows into the agent that you have already, or it can flow into, to me, Dot is like also another agent as well. And to me, a lot of these things are kind of converging. So this is available on all plans.
And you can see over here, Canva has a simple plugin that you can use over here. But if we're talking about discoverability, again, if you can sign in with ChatGPT and it can use... it can use some of the usage from the plan that you have already.
So what they're saying here is that we're making it easier to use your ChatGP plan with other tools. So use your allowance across 16 partners, including Cognition's Devin, which is very powerful. They have like an agent factory that you can use.
A lot of coders use it to build stuff. Notion, a lot of people are using it to kind of store a lot of documentation and workflows that they have. You can plug it in with your OpenClaw as well.
You can plug it in with Vercel. And they're going to continue to add to this, right? By the way, if you're enjoying this video, you got to check out single grain with a G.
So singlegrain .com, this is our AI native marketing services as software firm, where we build these marketing workflows, AEO, SEO, scaling cold outbound, scaling creatives. These are all workflows that we build and we put them into your Slack and your Microsoft teams and our teams help you manage them. And ultimately it means that we're able to compound on work that matters more to get you more outputs and outcomes that you want.
So singlegrain .com and we'll see you on the other side, right? And so the whole idea here, by the way. If I'm thinking about the workflows that we have, so let's use Carrot as an example.
So Carrot is our LinkedIn account -based marketing software. So it allows you to customize your LinkedIn ads. And that's still very useful in today's day and age.
So how do we plug this in where they can just use it for a little bit? So you're basically adding in more discoverability if you're able to add yourself to this OpenAI marketplace over here, right? So you can see who's in here.
So Lovable's in here, Vercel's in here, Legora, which is legal, Harvey's legal, Runway's in here, Sierra's in here. So if you can get yourself in sooner than later, to me, this is just another, it's another app store, right? So plugin extensions.
So again, developers can create their own experiences within ChatGPD. I think now we're getting to a point where if you're not... thinking about this from a discoverability standpoint, like, especially if you have an AEO SEO background, you have to be doing this.
If you're not doing this and you're still doing the traditional AEO, like AEO SEO, and you're just thinking about Google the whole time, you got to be thinking about this, right? Because it's clear that people are hanging out here. And so plugin extensions, that's one piece of it.
You know, getting on the open AI marketplace would be another piece of it as well. So if you're working with clients, for example, and they're in software, you got to make sure that they're getting in here. Or like, I'm thinking about the stuff that we're doing.
How do we just get all of our agents together and consolidate? in here, right? And so dots is going to be, you know, a very big deal because, you know, the agent space is becoming very competitive.
Signing with ChatGPD subscription is going to be very important as well. And so if you look at decisions API, so it enables real -time decision -making by focusing Luna's intelligence, which is one of the lower models, cheaper models on specific set of user -defined questions with finite predefined answers. Developers supply context using text or images and get back answers they can use to classify content, route requests, or choose an agent's action.
Next. actually. And they have other stuff they're talking about, such as an agent's API with computer use.
So I think this is a big deal too. So when you think about the agents that you build, if you're using the OpenAI API, they're basically saying that, hey, whatever agent you build, so for example, if I have an AEO SEO bot that will ingest my content and draft content for me, and it will also look at what competitors are doing, it will also look at content that's decaying and decide what content we should be drafting.
Well, in some cases maybe it needs to pull from my x profile maybe it needs to pull Maybe it needs to, if we're running like a talent bot, for example, for recruiting, maybe it needs to use my, use like a LinkedIn account or something like that, right?
Or maybe it needs to, you know, log into like a UI that doesn't have an API. Well, Codex actually does a really good job. Codex is their coding harness, does a really good job with computer use.
And so with computer use, well, guess what? So Codex is multi -agent capabilities, tool search, tool calling, and context compaction into your application. So if you add that in there, whatever workflows, or bots that you have right now that are crushing it for you.
Whatever agents you make, guess what? you can put that into a plugin and then maybe you can house all of those plugins together, right? If we think about, okay, so we're talking about the plugins over here.
So each of your bots can become a plugin and then maybe use the agent's API with computer use. Okay, you package it up and put it in here. And then what you do is, you know, with ChatGP subscription, okay, you figure out how do you get into the marketplace here and how do you just package all of your workflows together?
And so when I think about... when I think about single grain and then single brain, and really they're all kind of just merging together, the stuff that I do, we're really building these workflows and we're compounding on them over time, right? And so when you look at the marketplace over here, Sierra actually has a lot of these workflows that they're building out for their clients.
And then HyperAgent, they build a lot of these agents too. And I think a lot of like Legora and Harvey, these are legal agents. And I think we're going to see a lot more of this, right?
And so that's why I think that you have to get on this right now. This also applies to paid media too because chat GPT ads are live, right? And so you can be running chat GPT ads for this.
You should be getting on this now. I think about this from like a new SEO, AEU standpoint, you got to get listed on these right now, okay? And the second thing is if you start to do well there, then you start to drive distribution through paid media.
All this other stuff is fine for enterprises to use, but I think from a marketer standpoint, this is how you got to be thinking about this. I think you just need to go do now. So go do and we'll see you on the other side.
The Hook

The bait, then the rug-pull.

OpenAI just turned ChatGPT into a place products get discovered, not just a place people get answers. Eric Siu walks through Dots, the relaunched plugin platform, and OpenAI's new enterprise Marketplace, then makes the case that marketers who get listed now will compound the way early SEO winners did.

Packaged Workflow Discoverability Stack

  1. Start with a workflow or bot that's already working
  2. Wrap it as a ChatGPT plugin
  3. Add Agents API computer use for any step that needs a UI with no API
  4. List it on OpenAI's plugin discovery or enterprise Marketplace
  5. Layer ChatGPT ads on top once it's ranking

The order Eric lays out for turning an existing internal workflow into something ChatGPT users can find and use.
