Big Idea

The argument in one line.

Coaches lose sales calls to no-shows and freebie-seekers not because prospects are flaky, but because a generic 'book a call' reads as a scary, unclear ask that needs a name, a tight booking window, and a pre-call diagnostic to fix.

Who This Is For

Read if. Skip if.

READ IF YOU ARE…
  • You're a coach or consultant who books sales calls and struggles with people not booking, not showing up, or showing up just to pick your brain for free.
  • You already run a calendar booking page ('appointment engine') and want to rework its copy, its booking window, and what happens right after someone books.
  • You run a two-call close (a short triage call followed by a strategy session) and want prospects arriving pre-diagnosed instead of cold.
SKIP IF…
  • You sell entirely without booked calls (self-serve checkout, webinar-to-cart, or an offer doc) — the video's own creator says this is not how he sells anymore.
  • Your show-up problem is really a lead-quality problem upstream of the booking page — this assumes people landing on the page are already interested.
TL;DR

The full version, fast.

Coaches selling with sales calls usually have three problems: not enough calls get booked, the ones that do book often no-show, and the ones who show up just want free advice. The fix is to stop treating the booking page like a scary black box and instead name and frame the appointment around a clear benefit, like giving away Skittles instead of snakes. Add a headline, a benefits video, and four plain-English bullets. Then shrink the booking window to 48-72 hours so the prospect stays top of mind. Finally, send a short diagnostic video after booking that walks them through a model and has them self-score red, yellow, or green, so they arrive already knowing where they need help.

Atomic Insights

Lines worth screenshotting.

  • A generic 'book a sales call' invitation feels like being asked to put your hand into an unmarked box that might contain snakes, so people avoid it by default.
  • It's often harder to sell something free than something paid, because free triggers built-in skepticism about the hidden catch.
  • The single biggest predictor of whether someone shows up to a booked call is simply whether there was a time available for them to pick, not how many reminders you send.
  • Booking windows should be small and wide open: lots of available slots, but only within the next 48 to 72 hours, so the prospect stays top of mind.
  • Letting people book a call three or four weeks out predicts no-shows, because by then you're no longer top of mind.
  • A named appointment (a 'Scale Session' or 'Growth Game Plan') converts better than a generic 'book a time,' because a name signals a deliverable, not an errand.
  • The booking page's real job is to answer one question before anyone schedules: what's inside the box, and why is it safe?
  • A short video placed above the booking calendar, repeating the same headline and bullets as the page, reduces the ambiguity that kills bookings.
  • Sending a diagnostic video after someone books, and having them self-score red, yellow, or green, turns a cold booking into a prospect who arrives already naming their own problem.
  • Calibrating a diagnostic so most people land on 'yellow' isn't manipulation, it's showing an honest gap between where someone is and what's possible for them.
  • When a prospect opens a sales call with 'I'm red here, here, and here, can you help me?' the seller no longer has to build the case for urgency.
  • A four-part diagnostic model (outcome, core problems, milestones, tactics) works best as a tool to run a call through, not as something taught in full during the video.
Takeaway

Fix Show-Up Rate By Fixing the Ask

THE BOOKING FIX

Coaches lose sales calls to no-shows and freeloaders because the ask itself feels risky, so naming the offer, shrinking the booking window, and pre-diagnosing prospects fixes all three at once.

01The Three Problems With Sales Calls
  • Coaches selling with sales calls typically face three compounding problems: not enough calls booked, low show-up rates, and prospects who show up only to extract free advice.
  • The fix is organized as three separate moves: one for booking, one for showing up, and one for showing up ready to buy.
02Snakes Into Skittles: Why 'Book a Call' Repels People
  • Asking someone to 'book a sales call' functions like asking a stranger to put their hand into an unmarked box, so the offer gets rejected on instinct, not logic.
  • Selling something free is often harder than selling something paid, because free triggers suspicion about the hidden catch.
  • Reframing the ask from a scary black box into a clear, wanted benefit is the actual fix for weak booking numbers.
03Naming and Framing the Appointment Page
  • A named appointment converts better than a generic 'book a time,' because a name implies a deliverable, not an errand.
  • The booking page needs a headline, a qualifying subhead naming who it's for, a short video, and four plain-English benefit bullets before the calendar.
  • Bullets should promise a look at the current situation, what's possible, the hidden bottleneck, and a concrete action plan, not vague coaching language.
04The Invitation Video Script and the 'Why Free?' Objection
  • A short video repeating the page's own headline and bullets, placed just above the calendar, removes ambiguity right before the moment someone decides to book.
  • Answering 'why is this free?' directly, by explaining that some people will want paid help implementing the plan, removes the built-in skepticism free offers create.
05Small Window, Wide Open: The Booking-Window Fix
  • The single biggest predictor of a no-show isn't reminders or check-ins, it's whether an available time slot existed for the prospect to grab quickly.
  • Booking calendars should stay wide open with slots, but only within the next 48 to 72 hours, since a call booked three weeks out loses top-of-mind status.
06The SCAN Page: Pre-Call Diagnostic and Traffic-Light Scoring
  • A short diagnostic video sent right after someone books, walking them through a model and asking them to self-score red, yellow, or green, turns a cold booking into a warm, pre-diagnosed prospect.
  • A prospect who opens the actual call with 'I'm red here, here, and here, can you help me?' has already built their own case for urgency.

If you sell with sales calls, there's a pretty good chance you've got three problems. Not enough calls get booked each week. Number two, the ones who book often don't show up, and the ones that show up often are there to pump you for free information instead of find out how your program works.
I don't sell with sales calls anymore, but for 15 years I did, and 60 % of our clients still do. So in this video, I want to show you three simple packs. One that gets you more calls booked, one that increases the show up rate significantly, and the third gets them showing up in a way that has them leaning in going, okay, I've got a problem and I know you can solve it.
So help me out. That's what we're going to do. It's going to be fun.
Let's get started. Nearly every coach I talk to who sells with sales calls has a problem. And the problem is they want lots of sales calls and the people who they want to have the calls with don't want the calls.
And I can explain the whole problem with a weird analogy. Imagine you're walking down the street one evening in your town and a guy, sketchy looking guy, walks up to you with a weird object with a black hole in the front and says, hey, hey you, come over here. All right.
He goes, put your hand in this hole. I don't know about you. I don't want to put my hand in that hole.
It's a weird shaped object. There's a dark hole. I can't see inside.
It could be snakes. That's what you're doing when you ask people to book a sales call with you. You're selling snakes.
It's not attractive. It's scary. There's too much risk and not enough reward.
But if somebody came up to you one day with a container, but instead of being a weird, scary black thing, it was clear. transparent Perspex and inside was Skittles and said, hey, I'm giving away free Skittles today. You'd probably put your hand in and get some Skittles because Skittles are delicious.
It sounds weird. It sounds dumb. But right now, when you say book a sales call with me, it's like saying, hey, put your hand in this box.
It might have snakes or spiders or dog poop. The only reason that some rando is trying to give me an hour of their time is to extract money from my wallet. It feels like a take, like a snake.
What we want to do instead is to package this thing up so it's clear and obvious. It feels safe. And there's a clear benefit.
Skittles. Welcome to the last video of the marketing map. A little series where I'm showing you exactly what we do and our clients do to get leads and sign clients.
This one's a little bit different because I'm showing you what I teach, but I don't do. Not because I'm a hypocrite, just because we used to sell with the appointment engine. I'm about to show you some bits from it.
But now we sell with an offer doc and it's changed my life. But 60 % of our clients still sell with sales calls. I'm going to show you how to do that.
right now. So I was working with a client called Chris who had a problem with not enough sales calls getting booked and certainly not enough people buying. It's like, okay, so what's the goal?
He goes, well, I want more calls booked. I'm like, okay, do you want more calls booked or do you want more calls to actually show up? He goes, well, oh, I want them to show up.
I'm like, okay, great. So we want more calls booked and we want them to show. I'm like, okay, so when they show, do you want them to show up or do you want them to show up ready to buy from you?
He said, well, I'd like that too. I'm like, so that's the goal. We don't just want more calls booked.
We want them to show and we want them to be ready. I'm gonna give you one tip for each of those three things. So the first step is to get you booked.
To get people to wanna book a call with you, we need to turn the snakes into Skittles. The way we do that is with a great name and some bullets about what the benefit is. And then I'll give you a video script and show you what the page looks like.
I don't know if you've noticed this, but it's sometimes harder to sell something free than it is to sell something paid because there's a built -in skepticism about it. So why is this free? That's very, very true for a sales call.
So when people land on your schedule page, it's the first page in your appointment engine, uh we need to make it very very clear what they get why they should do it how they'll be better off and why it's safe let me sketch out your appointment page it's got a headline and subhead which we'll fill in a second next it's got a little video inviting them to book a call it'll have four bullets and then right over here will be the the place where they can actually schedule themselves in which is super important.
We'll talk about that in step two. All right, first up the headline, we need to name your appointment. Not just like book a time with Bob here.
If I was selling an appointment for me and I help coaches to scale, I might call it a scale session or a business growth game plan. I like session, I like game plan. Anything that sounds like a plan, people usually want.
And so just take the word plan and the core result you deliver, mash them together. Scale session, growth game plan. you do you.
And it's either going to be with your name or if you have a salesperson, we want to name the kind of person. So a scale specialist is probably what I would do. In fact, it's what I used to do.
Then we need a subhead, which is like the benefits. Here we want to call out who it's for and point at some of the results. So I would say, if you're a business coach doing at least $10 ,000 a month, you might be just a few strategies, tactics, and tools away from adding an extra 30 to 50K a month.
If you're a insert who, who's doing at least... qualification you might be just a few one two three away from result they really want so we've just opened a loop by the way if you want to see a template example of this in the description below i'll put a link so you can download a pdf and sketch yours out okay so our session's got a name here we'll put a video which we'll get to in a moment what we want to do here is just bullet out the benefits because everyone's like okay put my hand in the in the box what's inside so we just want to plain English, give them the benefits of in this fast -paced, you know, 10 minute, if it's a triage or 45 minute, if it's a sales appointment session, here's what we'll do.
So we're going to get people to want the Skittles. We need to let them taste the rainbow and show them what's inside. So in this fast -paced session, here's what we'll do.
I will look at their current situation, find out what's possible for them, the bottlenecks, and then leave with a plan. Let me give you some words you can copy. Again, these are in the worksheet below.
In fact, I'm going to look at the worksheet and share them with you on this fast -paced call. we'll number one, take a look at your current situation, see what's working and what's not. Obviously we customize these for your niche.
Number two, identify what's possible for you in terms of clients, cash and growth in the next 90 days and beyond. So we wanna always promise a short -term result as well as a bigger future. Third, we'll uncover the hidden bottleneck that's been throttling your growth and holding you back.
And fourth, we'll develop a three -step action plan to take you to the next level of money, success, good looks, whatever you do with people. Cool? So that's the bullets, and then they schedule.
There's a quick little video that lives just above it, which repeats the same thing. I'm gonna give you the overview right now. Again, the whole script is available for you below.
Fill in the blanks. Hey, it's Taki here from Million Dollar Coach. Really glad you're here.
If you're a business coach who wants more money, meaning freedom, but needs help with marketing, getting leads, making sales, or keeping their clients, then I'd like to invite you to book a free 45 -minute scale session to work on your growth plans. On this fast -paced call, we'll... Same bullets we just said.
Take a look at your current situation, work out what's working and what's not. Identify what's possible for you in terms of money, meaning freedom over the next 90 days and beyond. Together, we'll figure out the number one thing that's been holding you back and constricting your growth, you know, holding you back from scaling and develop a three -step action plan to help you get results in your business fast.
So use the calendar on this page and find a time that suits you now. The session's free. We're really happy to help.
Why would we do a session like this for free? Well, it's really simple. We know that when we do a game plan like this, there's a percentage of people who go, that's a really great plan.
Could you help me implement that? That's how we make our money. That's what we do as a job.
If that's you, amazing. If not, no hard feelings. You'll get a great plan that you can run on your own.
But the only way to get the plan is to jump on a call with me or my team. So choose a day and a time that suits you on this page. And on the next page, I'll show you exactly what to do to get the most out of calls so you can crush it together.
Thanks for taking this step and I'll see you on the next page. And that's the vid. Again, script below.
Move number one, turn your snakes into Skittles. You want to name and frame the call. That's how you get more people to book.
Let's talk about how to get them to show. There's a lot of show up tricks you can do. Lots of reminders and check -ins.
And if you don't reply, I'll cancel the call. That's also cool. Honestly, the number one needle mover, the number one thing that predicts whether someone shows up or doesn't is was there a time available for them to pick?
It sounds really dumb, but it's true. The second big move we're going to do when you think about your calendar booking available window, you want to have a small window. wide open.
What does that mean? Well, that means that we have lots of available slots, but only in the next 48 hours. 72 at a stretch.
I see some people who are booking calls, you know, two or three or four weeks out and wondering why people don't show up. It's because you're not top of mind anymore, dude. You haven't been top of mind for three and a half weeks.
So what we want to do is have small window, wide open. Heaps of available slots, but only for 48, 72 hours top. First trick.
Deep. Second trick, easy. Both of them will make you some money.
What we want now though is we've got into book. We're going to get into show. The third thing is how do we get them to show up ready and open?
Okay. I've never shared this outside Black Belt before, but I saw this woman on the internet talking about this as if it was hers. And so I'm just going to out give that woman.
So you get the goods. Is that cool? Thank you cheating lady for passing my stuff off as your own.
This is how it's done. properly after somebody books they're going to land on a thank you page if you're doing a two call close like we suggest a triage call and a strategy session you can put this after the triage if you're not do it on the thank you page after they first schedule it's a page called the scan page s -c -a -n like a ultrasound mri not scam like the lady who ripped off my stuff it's a simple page with a video that's about seven or eight minutes long i'll give you the end and the middle you're going to need a magic model for which is a whole other video okay headline so this page has only got two things it's very simple uh it's got a headline and a vid okay i'll give you the headline right now this we'll call it eight minute and scan will show us where the biggest X opportunity.
I'd say growth opportunities because I'm the business coach, but you do you. And then there's a vid. And that's it.
So what's in the video? The video auto place. And it says something like this.
Hey there, Taki here. I know we're speaking in a couple of days time to work out a plan to grow your coaching business. I want you to get the most out of the call.
So I put together this little video so that you are ready. Let me introduce you to a simple model that'll help us diagnose what's going really well and where the biggest opportunities are for you. I want you to go through this with a pen, if you can.
And when we jump on a call together, you can explain where you were green, where you were yellow, and where the reds were, so we can focus in and spend most of our time on the most important stuff to you. That's the opening 30 seconds. And then we walk people through your model for getting people the results you get.
You're not going to teach the model. You're going to use it as a diagnostic tool. In our world, the magic model has the dream come true outcome, the three core problems that they have.
the milestones that we achieve and then the tactics, the projects, the nine core areas that we use. So for us, this would be to get to a seven figure lifestyle empire. The challenge they have is there's not enough leads.
Sales is clunky and awkward and they don't have enough clients. So the clients don't stay for long. And what we're going to do is we're going to attract leads every day.
We're going to convert sales every week and we're going to keep clients for years. And as we go through each one, we get people to traffic light themselves. And traffic light just means they're going to give themselves a self -score.
Is this area green? I .e. they're killing it, baby.
Red, a bleeding neck problem that needs urgent help. Or yellow, doing okay, could use an upgrade. Now, what we do is we explain what the topic is and we read out a headline statement.
And the statement is designed to calibrate people to yellow. In other words, that most people, when they read it, they would say they're yellow or they're red. Some are going to be green.
That's completely fine. We're not manipulating. We're just showing the gap between where people are and what's possible for them.
We run through your model nice and quickly. Headline statements is the core strategy we teach in Black Dot. I don't have time to go through it here, but run through your model, explain what's possible, really quickly get to these blues and have people score.
When we get to the end and they're traffic loaded, we say, okay, so now we've got a 360 degree view of your situation. And when we jump on a call, I want to make sure we spend most of our time focused on the most important things.
So together we can leverage the greens and we can fix the reds so that you can take your coaching business to the next level of money, meaning and freedom. So now we don't just have people booking a call. We have people showing up to the call and not just showing up, but showing up pre -diagnosed going, I'm red here, here and here.
I'd like some help, please. Anytime a client jumps on a call and you start the sales conversation with, okay, so why me and why now? And they're able to go.
I did the thing and I'm red everywhere. Can you help me? You're in a good place.
So that's the scan page. Like I said before, I don't do sales calls anymore because people watch videos like this and realize I'm a gangster who can help and they reach out for help. How do they do it?
They find me on Instagram and they DM me the word tacos. T -A -C -O -S. You'd be shocked at how many people can't spell tacos.
It blows my mind. Don't send me an emoji. Don't put exclamation marks after it.
Don't put it in the middle of a sentence. Just that word alone. It's like an IQ test, a bit of a filter.
So if you want to work together, that's how you do it. If you want to see how I've helped 700 coaches hit a million bucks, what their plan looks like and show you examples from their business, this video here will show you the million dollar plan.
