Big Idea
The argument in one line.
Connecting an AI agent directly to editing software lets one written prompt handle camera metadata, audio sync, color space, and proxy generation, cutting a wedding editor's project setup down to minutes of walk-away time.
Who This Is For
Read if. Skip if.
READ IF YOU ARE…
A wedding or multi-cam video editor who repeats the same footage-organizing setup, metadata, syncing external audio, color space, proxies, at the start of every project.
Someone who hands off multi-cam sync to another editor and needs standardized metadata fields, like an exact 'angle' tag, for that handoff to work.
An editor curious about connecting Claude to desktop creative software through MCP, beyond just chat-based prompting.
SKIP IF…
You don't use DaVinci Resolve or software with an MCP integration, since the walkthrough is specific to that connection.
You're looking for a step-by-step manual tutorial on multi-cam syncing in Resolve itself rather than an AI-automation overview.
TL;DR
The full version, fast.
A wedding video editor connects Claude Desktop to DaVinci Resolve and writes a chained prompt that tags every clip's camera angle, syncs an external interview mic to the matching camera footage by timecode, sets a camera's color space, and generates proxy media, tasks he otherwise repeats project after project. The agent asks clarifying questions when instructions are ambiguous, figures out which footage actually overlaps by timecode instead of syncing everything, and, once granted full screen control, can multi-select folders and batch a proxy render across hundreds of clips in one action. The payoff is a reusable prompt: refine it once against your own folder structure and field names, then paste it into every new project and let the setup run itself.

Reaction montage stating the thesis before any setup is shown: one prompt can start a whole project.
00:29 – 01:08
02 · New wedding project, camera legwork
Context for why this setup happens on every project: footage has to be tagged by camera before it's handed to the multi-cam editor.
01:08 – 02:06
03 · First prompt: metadata as camera angles
Opens Claude Desktop connected to Resolve via MCP and writes the first prompt, tagging A/B/C-cam folders with angle numbers.
02:06 – 03:53
04 · Chaining prompts: audio sync and color space
Adds instructions to sync the interview mic to A-cam footage by timecode and set C-cam's color space to S-Log3/S-Gamut3.Cine, then runs the combined prompt.
03:53 – 05:06
05 · A clarifying question, then a naming mistake
Claude asks whether to also number the drone and ceremony-backup folders; the run then reveals the prompt updated 'camera number' instead of the 'angle' field the SOP actually needs.
05:07 – 06:48
06 · Corrected run: smart sync in six minutes
Rerunning the fixed prompt, the agent limits the mic sync to the 24 A-cam clips that actually overlap in timecode (out of 177) and finishes metadata, sync, and color space in six minutes.
06:49 – 07:42
07 · Verifying the fix, queuing proxies
Spot-checks confirm the angle field is now correct across B-cam, C-cam, and drone bins, then queues a new prompt for H.265 quarter-resolution proxies.
07:42 – 09:34
08 · Granting computer-use control
The proxy prompt requires more than MCP calls, so Claude is granted full computer-use permission and starts moving the window, screenshotting, and reading the screen directly.
09:34 – 11:54
09 · Why a reusable prompt matters
Explains the real payoff: perfect a prompt once and reuse it unchanged on future projects, then sends a follow-up prompt telling Claude to multi-select bins instead of working one at a time.
11:54 – 14:39
10 · 499 clips, one proxy batch
Claude command-clicks all five video bins and runs proxy generation across all 499 clips in a single action instead of per-bin.
14:40 – 15:37
11 · Recap and sign-off
Recaps the full automated setup, metadata, sync, color space, proxies, and closes with a comment/subscribe ask.
Atomic Insights
Lines worth screenshotting.
Claude Desktop can connect to DaVinci Resolve through MCP so one prompt updates camera metadata, syncs audio, sets color space, and starts proxy generation without manual clicking.
A prompt that said 'camera number' instead of 'angle' updated the wrong metadata field, so exact field-name language matters as much as the intent behind a prompt.
Given a timecode-based sync instruction, the agent detected that an interview mic only overlapped 24 of 177 A-cam clips and synced just those instead of applying the sync to everything.
Once a prompt is refined for one project's folder structure and camera setup, it can be copy-pasted into new projects and run unattended.
Granting an AI agent full computer-use permission lets it click and multi-select inside desktop software directly, not just call predefined MCP actions.
Command-clicking to multi-select all video bins let one proxy-generation prompt run across all 499 clips in a single batch instead of one bin at a time.
A six-minute automated run replaced metadata tagging, audio sync, and color-space assignment that would otherwise be manual, per-clip work.
Standardizing metadata field names, like 'angle' over 'camera number', matters because a downstream editor's SOP depends on exact naming to batch-sort footage correctly.
Takeaway
One prompt chain can run your whole pre-edit setup
PROMPT WORKFLOWS
Chaining an AI agent's prompts together, and correcting the ones that target the wrong field, replaces the manual metadata, sync, and proxy work that normally opens every multi-cam project.
02New wedding project, camera legwork
Standardizing per-camera metadata (angle 1, 2, 3) before handing footage to a second editor removes the need to manually re-sync every multi-cam clip later.
Doing the repetitive setup work in the same order at the start of every project is what makes that work automatable in the first place.
03First prompt: metadata as camera angles
An AI agent connected to editing software through MCP can read a project's actual folder structure and apply a rule, like 'A cam is angle one', across every clip in that folder without you clicking into each one.
Describing the exact task in plain language, including which folders map to which camera, is enough for the agent to start the update on its own.
04Chaining prompts: audio sync and color space
Multiple setup tasks, syncing external mic audio by timecode and setting a camera's color space, can be queued as a single chained prompt instead of done as separate manual steps.
The agent asks for permission before checking the software's status, so a walk-away workflow still keeps a human in the loop on tool access.
05A clarifying question, then a naming mistake
The agent asks a clarifying question when it finds ambiguity, like extra footage folders you didn't mention, rather than silently guessing.
Using the wrong metadata field name in a prompt, 'camera number' instead of 'angle', produced a technically correct but practically useless result, because a downstream SOP depended on that exact field.
Fixing a prompt that targeted the wrong field is faster than manually re-tagging clips by hand, but it still means the prompt's wording has to be exact, not just its intent.
06Corrected run: smart sync in six minutes
Given a timecode-based instruction, the agent worked out on its own that an interview mic only overlapped a subset of camera clips (24 of 177) and limited the sync to just those.
A six-minute automated run replaced what would otherwise be per-clip manual tagging, audio syncing, and color-space assignment.
07Verifying the fix, queuing proxies
Spot-checking a few clips after an automated batch update, rather than trusting it blindly, is what catches whether the fix actually propagated to every bin.
A prompt that works for one project's structure can be saved and reused as-is on future projects with the same camera setup.
08Granting computer-use control
Some actions, like generating proxies with specific codec and resolution settings, require an agent to have full mouse and screen control rather than just calling predefined commands.
Granting that level of control means explicitly approving it, and the first run is slower while the agent figures out where things are in the interface.
09Why a reusable prompt matters
The real time savings come from perfecting one prompt once, then reusing it unchanged across every new project with the same footage structure.
When an instruction causes an agent to do a repetitive action one item at a time, a follow-up prompt telling it to multi-select first can turn a per-item process into a single batch action.
10499 clips, one proxy batch
Batching a repetitive action, generating proxies for 499 clips in one command instead of triggering it per folder, is what actually creates the free time to do something else.
An automated setup pass doesn't replace review, it just moves the editor's time from manual tagging into spot-checking the result.
Glossary
Terms worth knowing.
MCP (Model Context Protocol)
An integration that lets Claude Desktop connect directly to software like DaVinci Resolve and read or change its project data through written prompts.
A-cam / B-cam / C-cam
Shorthand for the primary, secondary, and tertiary camera angles in a multi-camera shoot, used to label and sort footage by source.
Angle metadata field
A per-clip metadata tag recording which camera angle a clip came from, used by an editor's SOP to batch-sync multi-cam footage correctly.
Timecode-based sync
Matching separately recorded audio to camera clips by lining up their embedded timecodes, rather than manually scrubbing for overlaps.
S-Log3 / S-Gamut3.Cine
Sony's flat log color profile and matching color gamut, set on a camera's footage so it grades correctly alongside other camera sources.
Proxy media
Lower-resolution stand-in video files generated from full-resolution footage so a timeline plays back smoothly before final export.
Computer-use permission
A mode where an AI agent is granted mouse, keyboard, and screen control to operate an app's interface directly, beyond scripted commands.

metaphor
I could literally enter one prompt to start and start the whole entire project. Bro, you're joking. That's what I'm talking about.
Yo, what? Hell no. All right, so I'm about to show you like some crazy stuff that I found out about Claude and DaVinci Resolve.
Like DaVinci linking up with Claude has to be the best update of literally my editing career. So we're going to get right into it. Basically, I'm in a new wedding project.
These are things that I do beginning every project, even before I have to send it to some media who literally calls and does all my multi -cam sequences. I got to do all this legwork right up front, right? One of the first things I got to do is update all my A -cam footage, B -cam, C -cam.
All these clips need to be updated. as far as the metadata, camera one, camera two, camera three. So that way, when they do the multi -cam sequence, they can sync everything by angle instead of going in and trying to sync it all, you know, finding it manually and then DaVinci giving you 56 clips.
So anyways, I'm gonna open this up a little bit bigger. We're literally in the metadata. So I'm showing you everything from scratch.
If I double click a clip. there's nothing here right so you do have to have the claw desktop app and then you connect it to davinci i'll leave a link in the description to a video i watch that's that helped me help me set it all up super simple fast process is easy so here all i got to do is just type in my prompts i'm going to say inside the new project there is a main folder of footage i need to update all the metadata as camera angles.
A cam is camera one. A cam is one. B cam is two.
C cam three, et cetera, for all angles. Then, after it updates the metadata, I'm gonna add a bunch of prompts, man, because then I always sync the... i always sync the acam uh audio so let's see if there's a if there's a mic over here pr4 interview mic uh f6 dj audio so that's the only off -camera mics that looks like we have so now i'm gonna say then i need to sync the pr4 interview mic to the a cam footage based on time code boom synced based on timecode.
Boom, right? This is another step. Then I'm just looking at the project.
I'm looking here, but CCAM is FX3. I'm literally showing you all of this. So this FX3, we're going to go back to Claw.
We're going to say, then for CCAM clips, update, set the input. color space to sony s log 3 slash s gamut 3 cine but i'm literally adding all these prompts guys i'm telling you this is freaking a game changer so after we do that um it looks like that's going to be the first layer of stuff let's see if there's anything else in b cam that we need c cam nah it doesn't look like it so then we literally just run this prompt right so while this is happening imagine if you had other things to do you could literally i could go off and start you know maybe i'm meal prepping maybe i'm doing something it doesn't take a crazy long time cloud wants to get resolve status i'm gonna always allow that so it can always know when resolve did the prompt all right so now it gave me another question says your media pool has five footage folders under video A cam, B cam, C cam, drone, ceremony, backup.
You specified A, B, two, and three. Should drone and ceremony backup also get numbered four and five? You know what?
Normally, I don't, but hey, let's just go ahead and do it. Number all five folders. Boom.
This way, you don't have to worry about any hiccups. In the future, after running this prompt in this project, in the future, when I go into a new project, under this prompt, it'll know to just always number the... all the folders so regardless of angle it's always going to number it all right so it just completed it but low key i actually made a mistake i told it to update the camera number i need the angle so i'm gonna have it updated so it's set every clip under the video folder let's just double check real quick so a cam we click one of these clips camera number is one so it actually did update it but i have to be very specific because angle is how my sops is created for sim media so they know to batch all the clips by angle number so if they did that they're gonna do angle and it's not gonna show up and i don't want to have to go in and tell them this one project is different so instead let's go back in the clog that's my mistake not a claw mistake we're gonna have them simply uh let's let's have it updated um i actually need the angle
updated for the clips please update the angle for a cam etc two one two three etc all right let's see how long it takes to just run that one prompt but it also said pr4 interview mic the mic clip overlaps exactly one stretch of a cam footage so i ran results time code based auto sync to 24 clips rather than the whole 177 that's crazy so it basically looked at the time code knew that the time code overlapped 24 specific a cam clips and only synced it to those instead of anything else c cam color code color space all 24 clips input color space s gamut 3 cine let's take a look at that real quick so we click oh my god it updated it like guys i literally ran a prompt and six minutes later all these steps are done let's check real quick um it said it did so this is the interview mic so we should be able to go to some interview clips um it's probably like like this right here let's see if it's updated it should be synced the jamie effect on him yeah so he's he's so much happier you know i mean
Guys, this is a freaking game changer, bro. It took six minutes. Six minutes.
It synced everything. It updated the metadata. It literally updated the color space.
I'm literally blown away by the power. And it's already started updating. Look at this.
Look at this. If we go on angle, it already started updating the angle for all the clips. Let's go to B cam and see if it's done.
B cam, angle two. C cam. CCAM it hasn't done yet, drone has it done drone, drone it hasn't done yet.
So, it's literally working its way through all the footage as we speak updating the angle metadata. Yo, this is a freaking game changer. It also synced the timecode clips and it says it just finished CCAM and drone so let's just double check.
Just double check real quick angle 3, amazing. It's a freaking amazing drone. We didn't even need ceremony backup.
This is a freaking amazing. So now I could technically, let's update the proxy generation location. I do this all.
I wonder if I could tell it, create H .265, because the whole cool thing is that once you create the prompt, you can literally reuse it over and over and over in new projects. So if I did this right, so I wanted to create H .265 proxies at quarter resolution. I'm going to set the proxy location.
Let's just see if it has a power to do that. Now create proxies for all the footage, but set the proxy settings to H .265 and quarter resolution.
All right, so it says computer use not yet granted. We're going to enable it full control. This way it can actually do what it needs to do.
I'm cool with it. Required for mouse tracking control. All right, so I had to give it some permissions to be able to run that prompt, but now we're seeing if it works.
Now, obviously this is the first time doing it. So it is taking, oh my goodness, look what it's doing. Look what it's doing.
Look what it's doing.
Allow. It's literally, this is the clawed mouse right here. What?
This is freaking crazy. It literally, nah, there's no way.
Allow full access control. It moved my window. Oh my God, what?
Yo, ain't no way it captured the screen. It took a screenshot. Uploaded it to Claude.
Claude's reading. Look at this. It's freaking doing it.
Oh, my God. You're joking. Bro, look.
I'm not doing nothing. Oh, shoot. I can literally enter one prompt to start and start the whole entire project.
Bro, you're joking. That's what I'm talking about. Yo, what?
Hell no. Hey, hey. W.
DaVinci and Claude bro this is literally about to speed up my editing so much to get one project done it will take me a prompt I can perfect the prompt this is the benefit I can perfect the prompt make sure I have all the steps needed for Claude do all the permissions allow it to do what it needs to do paste that prompt for a new project and freaking walk away I can literally be, I can do this.
I can run this prompt and go pick my daughter up from school. Come back, whole project's done, gang. Oh my God, y 'all ain't hear me.
Y 'all ain't hear me. This is crazy. It's saving, it's literally crazy.
I want to tell it because it looks like it's going to try to create a proxy one at a time. So I want to tell it instead of running proxies, Once at a time, select all video bins and run the proxies bins.
Then select all footage and generate proxy proxies. So, let's just see I gave it the prompt. So, imagine all of this was typed in at once, right.
That's the benefit right now I'm figuring it out. I knew about updating the metadata so I wanted it to select all the video folders. Let's just see, let's just see.
If it's capable of doing it it's going to be freaking crazy like this is powerful. This is really good you have to perfect your... Oh my God, oh my God it's doing it.
It selected ACAM. Oh my goodness. Ain't no way guys.
Command clicked works for multi -selecting bins. What? Oh my God, it's just doing it.
Oh, it's doing it. It's doing it. It's freaking doing it.
Oh my God, this is crazy. Yo, this is crazy. This is freaking crazy.
It's going to select. Oh my, oh my goodness. Y 'all don't understand.
You don't understand how much time this is going to save. I can be multitasking. There's literally all kinds...
Imagine if you got to prep for a wedding tomorrow, charge batteries, all this stuff. Also got to run proxies for a project. Dump the footage, run the prompt, walk away and do what you got to do.
Oh my God, I'm going to perfect this prompt. I will perfect this prompt specifically for anybody that's in the wedding space. And at some point, I'll probably make a follow -up video or a video on Instagram or somewhere where you could comment and I'll send you the prompt.
Like, this is actually insane. I can't believe what I'm finding out.
Guys, it freaking gets better. You are not going to believe I'm running a prompt right now. That is unreal.
I swear to you, this has to be, this should be paid for. Like there's no way, there's no way that this type of stuff, bruh, you should be paying big money for this. Oh my God, it selected all the footage.
It's running the proxies.
It's literally showing proxy. They're popping up one by one. It's making proxies.
Guys, this is the end of the video. Like, you now saw me create an entire project from scratch. It literally updated the metadata.
It updated, it synced the mic, the audio that we needed. It did the syncing. And now it's creating the proxies all with a prompt.
And guys, this is only going to get better because I'll perfect the prompt. I'll run the prompt multiple times in projects so that it's dialed in and it knows even complex scenarios what to do. That way you copy and paste the prompt and you walk away and everything is as it should be.
Proxy settings, generation. I multi -selected all five bins. A cam, B cam selected all 499 video clips across them at once and ran proxy media, generate proxy media on the whole batch in a single action rather than per bin.
It's actively rendering and is literally still going and updating proxies as we speak. Guys, and now the prompt is done. I don't even know how to end the video guys.
You can clearly see that Claude and DaVinci Resolve are working magic. There's so much power with using Claude inside DaVinci Resolve to speed up your workflow. And I feel like I'm only scratching the surface.
Like I'm definitely going to dive into it. Things that I do at every project or repeat in every wedding project, I'm going to try to see if I can build prompts to be able to do that for me and... Literally launch it all at once.
The benefit is that you can copy and paste the prompt and it'll do it every single time. Like what? Oh my goodness.
All right, man. Any questions to this? Leave in the comment section below.
