Chad GPT's Astra 6 edited this entire talking head video in one shot from the fire and the snap to everything else you're about to see. And I literally mean the entire video from start to finish, including the text takeovers, the sound effects and camera zooms. So in this video, I'm going to show you how to build a repeatable editing template with Astra 6 so you can stop wasting time starting from scratch every time you want AI to edit a new video.
But before we get to the special effects, we need to establish your base template or your waste hours reteaching Astra your editing style. Your base template is the biggest time saver because it automates the majority of your edits in your videos, such as audio cleanup. text takeovers, sound effects, camera zooms, and transitions.
Behind the scenes, Codex uses a free tool called Remotion to build and render the video following the editing rules we've saved in our template. So I put a prompt in the description to help you set up Remotion. All the little sparkly finger special effects come after the base edit.
So here we go. We've got two big steps to complete, and if you don't want to build this alone, then get the completed version that's already built for you in my school. It edited the video you're watching now, and it's the first link in the description.
Step one is to find a video on YouTube with an editing style you like because Astra can actually copy its motion. But pay attention because you're not just shooting magic out of your hands and getting a final video. This is something you build and nurture until it produces consistent results.
Once you find the video, watch for a particular timestamp of edits you like. For example, watch this clip from Evelyn Weiss and pay attention to the icons, text movements, and transitions. Creating content that is truly helpful on an ongoing basis.
I took the link in her video, gave it to Codex on Astra 6, and told it to analyze the timestamp of that clip. I literally asked Codex to go frame by frame and look for these five things. First was the basic layout so it knew to get an icon with text.
Second was the motion of the icon and text so it could replicate how both appear on screen. Third was the timing so it knew how long to keep both on screen. Fourth was the zoom out back to the avatar so it could copy the smooth motion.
And fifth was the timing of the sound effects. After a few hours of fine -tuning, I had simple text takeovers that would alternate throughout my video, just like you've been seeing in this video. Sometimes it's me speaking to the camera, and sometimes the overlays appear.
And after I got Codex to replicate the motion, I didn't want my video to look like Evelyn's, so I told it to change the background from white to a radial gradient blue, the icons to a metallic gray, and the red text to white with some yellow highlights. To get the sound effects right, I put a link in the description to freesound .org, so search for Woosh.
keyboard, and mouse click. You'll get multiple results, so choose the ones you like. Then tell Codex to use the whoosh when the text overlay smoothly zooms out to the avatar, the click when the text jump cuts back to the avatar, and keyboard when the words are typing on screen.
This keeps your sound effects subtle and complimentary so you're not overstimulating your viewers throughout the video. And finally, I told Codex the most important part of it all. Save all the fine tuning we just developed into a master editing reference file that it must use when editing raw videos.
I told it to include rules for cleaning up the dead space in the audio and natural time cadences for alternating between the avatar. and the text takeover. Then I kept testing and tweaking and had Codex continually update that master file until it got the exact timing of when text takeovers happen, when sound effects occur, how camera zooms work, and the proper timing for B -roll.
If you do all of that work and then skip the reference file, it won't save any of it. So don't. Miss this.
And look, I'm not a video editor. So I told Codex to function like a professional video editor for me and to create a draft that I could iterate from. This made the process much faster and I didn't have to guess what to tell it from scratch.
The key lesson is this. Tell it what you want, just like you would tell a real editor and then keep iterating until it makes it the way that you want. It's only a heavy lift the first time you do it, but it's this process that gives you consistent results later.
Then you can make little revisions over time as needed. And if you're thinking that the motion looks pretty basic, then you're right. We don't need crazy animations because that's not why people buy your product or service.
The whole point of this template is to help emphasize the key points of your message because that's all that matters with good talking head videos. I built this template for my school community because my members want to sell products and services in their videos without wasting time editing complex motion graphics. Basic editing has grown my channel by 1 ,000 subscribers this month alone.
all through super simple AI video editing. But here's how to add those special visual effects. So step two, connect your editing process to an AI video generator, and I recommend Google's latest version of OmniFlash.
I did this by telling Codex to set it up for me and to research the official API docs so it prompts OmniFlash with the right prompting structure to get the right effect. I put a setup prompt in the description that you can give to Codex to do this for you, but here's why it's a game changer. Codex can take a snippet of your video, send it to Google's OmniFlash AI model, add the effect to the clip, then bring the clip back to your video.
For example, look at the following clip of the original on the left and the fire snap on the right. This entire talking head video in one shot from the fire and the snap to everything else you're about to see. Now OmniFlash isn't free, but you're in control of how much credits you preload.
So I recommend 20 bucks to start because it's enough for plenty of clips and multiple videos. So let's pretend you've already created your basic template with text takeovers like you've seen in this video, but you want to spice it up with a little magic dust or AI generated B -roll. This works best when you script your videos because you can add little brackets with an editor's note next to the appropriate line in your script.
Then you can give your script to Codex so it knows where to put the effect when editing your video. For example, when I snap my fingers at the beginning, I put a comment labeled as an editor's note in brackets next to that specific line in the script. The editor's note said, when I snap my fingers and say the word fire in this line, then take this clip as a reference file and give it to OmniFlash with the proper prompt according to Google's official documentation.
Keep the rest of the performance the same. Codex literally took that clip. added it to OmniFlash via the API connection, used a well -structured prompt to get the fire effect, then downloaded the clip and spliced it back into its original spot in the video.
Freaking wild, right? But it can also do more basic generations, such as AI -created B -roll. For example, if I'm explaining how a skyscraper gets built, I can ask for a short clip showing the construction and have Codex place it over that part of my narration.
So to get this right with every video, I open my content engine folder inside a new codex session because that folder has my raw video and the master editing template. Then I give Codex my script with the editor's notes and tell it to edit my video in the content engine folder by following the rules in the template and referencing my script.
Basically, you're giving Codex clear directions about what belongs in your video. But fair warning, just start with one or two simple effects. test them on short clips, check the result, and save the instructions that work.
