Big Idea

The argument in one line.

Seven purpose-built Claude Code skills can take over an entrepreneur's recurring busywork, but only after the entrepreneur can clearly articulate the steps of the process being handed off, and most rising AI bills come from paying model prices for predictable steps that never needed a model at all.

Who This Is For

Read if. Skip if.

READ IF YOU ARE…
  • A coach, consultant, or course creator with an existing business who wants to hand repeatable admin work to Claude Code instead of a VA.
  • Someone who already writes Claude Code slash-command skills and wants seven concrete templates to adapt.
  • A solo operator whose AI bill keeps climbing and wants a framework for deciding which steps in a workflow actually need a model.
SKIP IF…
  • You're brand new to Claude Code and haven't run a custom skill or slash command before, this assumes you already know what one is.
  • You want fully hands-off automation, every skill here still requires you to sit down and answer 8 to 15 interview questions yourself.
TL;DR

The full version, fast.

Rick Mulready demos seven Claude Code skills he uses daily in his coaching business: one that interviews him until he can articulate a process well enough to delegate it, one that hands a fresh chat a written summary when the old one's context degrades, one that mines a call transcript for missed commitments, Anthropic's own skill-creator, a five-persona council that has to unanimously agree an offer is worth testing, a repurposing skill that turns one call transcript into multiple pieces of content, and a diagnostic skill that won't name a business's bottleneck until it has asked every question. The throughline: only automate the steps that actually need judgment, and never build a skill around a process you haven't proven works by hand first.

Atomic Insights

Lines worth screenshotting.

  • Skills are cheaper to run than plain chat because they hand Claude the exact steps once instead of re-explaining a process every session.
  • A typical multi-step workflow only needs AI judgment for one step; the rest is predictable data-moving that still gets billed at model prices.
  • Fixing that split, paying for AI only on the step that needs judgment, cut costs on multi-step workflows by around 71% in Zapier's internal study.
  • A council of simulated personas critiquing an offer only counts as a strong hypothesis worth testing when all of them independently agree, not proof it will work.
  • An offer-validation skill should force a verdict of ship it, fix it, or skip it, not just praise.
  • Skills built without testing the underlying process by hand several times first tend to fail, a skill only encodes what you've already proven works.
  • A business-bottleneck skill should refuse to name the constraint until it has asked every diagnostic question, so the user can't skip to the end.
  • Most entrepreneurs can't clearly articulate the steps of a process they perform constantly, which is the real reason delegation to AI or to a person breaks down.
  • A session-handoff skill converts a maxed-out chat's decisions and open questions into a document a fresh chat can resume from, avoiding a degraded compacted context.
  • Commitments made out loud on a client or team call quietly go undelivered because nobody rereads the transcript afterward.
  • A single 90-minute call transcript can be repurposed into five golden moments, five short-form hooks, a newsletter section, a community post, and ad copy in about three minutes.
  • AI-repurposed content still needs a human pass before publishing, skipping that step is where generic-sounding AI output comes from.
Takeaway

Seven skills for offloading business busywork

SKILLS OVER PROMPTS

Every one of these skills works by turning a process the reader has already proven into a repeatable script, so delegating to AI only works as well as the reader can first explain the steps themselves.

02Skill 1: Document My Process
  • If you can't write out the exact steps you take to do something, you can't safely delegate it to a person or an AI system.
  • Turning a process into words surfaces the judgment calls buried inside it, the parts that need a human decision rather than a fixed rule.
  • Documenting a single process well is worth doing even before you touch AI, because it's the actual bottleneck to delegating anything.
04Skill 2: Session Handoff
  • A long AI conversation degrades once its context window fills and gets compacted, so treat that as a signal to hand off, not push through.
  • Carrying forward a written summary of decisions and open questions into a new session preserves progress without inheriting the degraded context.
05Skill 3: Call Debrief
  • Commitments made out loud on a call are the ones most likely to be forgotten, because nobody goes back and rereads the transcript.
  • Checking new action items against an existing to-do list before adding them prevents a call-debrief process from creating duplicate work.
06Skill 4: Claude Skill Creator
  • Only turn a manual process into a reusable AI skill after you've run it yourself several times and trust the result is consistent.
  • A skill-creation tool that interviews you about the process forces you to articulate steps you might otherwise skip or assume.
07Skill 5: Council Offer Validator
  • An AI model defaults to agreeing with you, so unanimous encouragement from people or a single model isn't evidence an idea is good.
  • Running an idea past several independent critical perspectives and forcing a ship-it, fix-it, or skip-it verdict turns vague enthusiasm into a testable decision.
  • Agreement among independent evaluators is a signal a hypothesis is worth testing, not proof the idea will succeed.
08Skill 6: Content Wheel
  • A single long call transcript already contains enough raw material, stories, questions, quotes, to be repurposed into multiple pieces of content at once.
  • Content generated from a transcript still needs a human pass before publishing; skipping that step is where generic-sounding AI output comes from.
09Skill 7: Business Bottleneck Buster
  • Applying AI to a task just because it's easy to automate doesn't move a business forward if that task isn't the actual constraint.
  • A diagnostic process that withholds its conclusion until every question is answered forces a fuller picture instead of a premature guess at the bottleneck.
  • Once you find the true constraint, the fix should follow a structured sequence, identify it, work around it, then raise the ceiling, rather than a random tactic.
Glossary

Terms worth knowing.

Claude Code
Anthropic's coding-focused AI tool that runs in a terminal or editor and executes multi-step tasks, not just chat replies.
Skill (Claude Code)
A saved slash-command routine that gives Claude a fixed set of instructions for one repeatable task, so the process doesn't need re-explaining each time.
Slash command
A shortcut typed into Claude Code, such as /council, that triggers a specific pre-built skill instead of a freeform prompt.
Context window
The amount of a conversation Claude can hold in active memory at once; once it fills up, older parts get summarized and answers can get noticeably worse.
Compacting
Claude Code's process of condensing older parts of a long chat to free up space, which can make later answers in that same chat less sharp.
Sycophantic (AI)
An AI model's tendency to agree with and validate whatever the user proposes by default, rather than pushing back on a weak idea.

I'm always on the lookout for new skills to use in my business, whether it's other people's skills that I can adapt to my own business or creating new ones. The right one can genuinely save you hours and increase your output. I've tried hundreds of skills at this point.
So in this video, I'm going to share with you seven Claude skills that have actually made a difference for me and my business. And for each one, I'm going to show you what it does. how I'm using it in my business and give you ideas for how you could customize it for your business.
And the first cloud skill that makes a huge difference for me is one that I created to solve a problem that I see every day with the online entrepreneurs that I work with and coach. I call it document my process. And this isn't just an SOP skill.
This skill solves the number one problem I see entrepreneurs have. And that is they can't clearly articulate. how they do something.
It sounds easy, but it's actually harder said than done. And if you can't write out the steps to something, what it is you do in your business, you're gonna have a really hard time delegating to AI or to a person. So here I am inside of Cloud Code.
I use Cloud Code inside of VS Code. And so I'm just gonna type in my document, my process slash command, because that's the skill. And it's gonna say, I'm gonna help you document one of your processes.
So the first question that it's asking me is, what's one thing you do regularly you want off of your... plate first. And it says one note I'm picking smaller is better.
So let's just say that I want to filter, um, all of the YouTube video sponsorship requests that I get. So I'm just going to tell Claude, that's the first one I want to do filter YouTube promo emails in my inbox. Okay, great.
So it's asking me a clarifying question and I want to say, Oh, This is the incoming email that I'm sorting. So it's gonna continue to ask me these questions like what kicked it off?
I sat down to process my email. Okay, and I've just finished answering probably about 15 questions and it took about 10 minutes to answer the questions. So it says done, the process is written down where the file is.
So we'll click on that in just a second. Tells me what's missing, what it feels like the gaps are. how to use it and then it's asking me do I want to turn that into a slash command that I can run.
So basically creating a new skill out of this. So what I'm gonna do here is I'm gonna click on the link to take a look at it and these are the results. So I'll open this in preview.
And so how to filter YouTube promo emails. So here is the. documenting the process.
So starts when, finished when, here are all the different steps. So these are all the answers to the questions that it asked me. What types of tools that it needs access to, what the judgment calls are when it doesn't go normally, gives me documents and example, and then also includes what is not captured yet.
So the document my process skill is a lifesaver because Again, going back to the fact that very few people can clearly articulate what it is, how you do something in your business, this skill solves that. And here's the part about skills that nobody really talks about.
They're cheaper to run. It's the whole concept of skills. You're not having to re -explain the process every single time.
It has the exact instructions and steps for how to do something. It's like your SOP or a recipe for how to accomplish a repetitive task. Now, here's where that same idea gets a lot bigger than clockwork.
or any AI model for that matter. If your AI bill has been creeping up, it's usually not because you're using AI too much, right? It's because AI is doing work that never needed AI in the first place.
Think about what a task actually looks like. We just went through an example. Pull the record, check the field, format the data, update the sheet, send the email, whatever it might be for that task.
And out of all that, maybe one step actually needs your judgment, right? The rest is just steps. Predictable, same every time steps, but you're paying AI model prices for all of it.
And the tricky part is it's not like your AI bill is broken down like this, unfortunately. It doesn't tell you which part was worth it and which part was you paying a premium to move data between two apps. Well, Zapier put together a free guide on exactly this to help you save a ton of money.
How to tell which steps in your workflows actually need AI, which ones don't, and what it's costing you when you get that wrong. In their internal study on - multi -step workflows.
Fixing that split cut the cost by around 71%. That's huge. Highly recommend you read this guide so you can start saving yourself more money with your AI use.
Okay. Links in the description to download the guide right now. This next skill solves one of the biggest frustrations I used to have and what so many other entrepreneurs have a huge challenge with.
You're going along in a cloud chat. You're getting great output. Decisions are being made, but now your context window fills up.
And you've compacted a couple times, right? And Claude's starting to get dumb. I've done a whole video on why this happens right here.
A solution to that is starting a new chat. But you want to bring all that context with you from your existing chat, right? That's where the session handoff skill that I created comes in super handy.
Check this out. Okay, so let's say I've been at it within one chat here in Claude Code. and I've compacted a few times and I can tell that the answers aren't as sharp as they were in the beginning.
So I can just type in forward slash session handoff and now it's creating me a simple handoff document, if you will, that I can copy and then open up a new chat window here, paste it in, and I can pick up exactly where I left off. It's bringing all the context, all the decisions that were made, basically a progress update log.
over to a brand new chat and so i can start a fresh chat with a fresh context window knowing exactly where we were to pick up from this chat so i can just copy this come over here to a new chat paste it in and i can just say here is the session handoff from a previous cloud code chat let's pick up where we left off I can click go and immediately it's saying I'm caught up on the handoff before I pick anything up.
One thing to flag, I don't have your review of the doc yet. And the pickup point was wait for Rick's review. So it's telling me where things stand and then what do I want to do on the next step?
Because again, the other chat was waiting for me to review something. So I still need to do that. And it's asking me to review it.
So this solves the problem of when Claude's getting dumb in one chat. And, but I really liked the information up until that point, right? You've been going for a little while.
It has a lot of context and you don't want to lose all that. Well, now you can use the session handoff skill that I created, run that, get this handoff document, if you will, open up a new chat, paste it in. and tell it you want to pick up from the handoff, give it the information, and you're good to go.
Solves a huge problem. Okay, for skill number three, what I call my call transcript analyzer. So commitments made on calls live buried in transcripts that nobody rereads, right?
Let's be honest. So what you owe people from the calls that you were on quietly falls through the cracks, which is super annoying. So I create a skill to solve that problem.
I call it my call debrief skill. So it reads the full transcript of the call. It pulls out what was actually promised by you and by everybody else on the call.
It'll write a short debrief of the call with a summary. It'll give it the sentiment, add a sentiment of the call, action items, and any open questions into a specific meeting note. So I'm going to go back into Cloud and type in call debrief.
So this is the skill that I want. And then I'm going to grab this transcript right here. So I'm going to grab the transcript.
I'm just going to paste in the path here. and tell it to go okay and here is the result of that skill running against that transcript gives me the summary of the call here gives me the sentiment the action items again it checked against my current to -do list so it's basically de -duping anything that might already be on there so it's not adding something that doesn't need to be other people's action items and also what the follow -ups and open questions are from that specific call.
Now I'm pulling this up in Obsidian. But it's telling me here, debrief written to the top of that transcript. So it adds it to the existing transcript file.
And then it also gives me the summary right here. So again, saves a ton of time, super helpful. The fourth skill is the Cloud Skill Creator.
This is Anthropic's own, very meta, skill creator skill that takes your task or asks you questions to be able to create a skill. And then it'll create a skill out of that. It'll ask you the necessary questions it needs in order to create a skill.
create your skill. It makes it super, super easy. And you can also use it to improve an existing skill.
So if you have a skill and it's not working quite the way that you want it to, you can put it in here, use Anthropic skill creator skill and ask it to do an analysis and make recommendations for how to improve it. So all I have to do in Claude is type in forward slash skill and choose skill creator. So it's going to ask me.
All right, I'm ready to help you create or improve a skill. What would you like to build? And then it gives you some suggestions on what it can jump right into, right?
Starting from scratch or you've got a draft already or you have an existing skill that isn't doing very well and you want to... optimize it, right? The skill creator skill will do all of these things.
One thing here that is really, really important. Okay. And I'm not going to go through the whole process right now, but I want you to know that this exists and it will walk you through step -by -step for creating a brand new skill.
However, don't turn something into a skill that you haven't tested several times. OK, and iterated on your testing, you only want to be turning something into a skill that you know works, that you've been testing it. You're like, yeah, I'm getting great, consistent results each time I do this process.
Now I'm ready to turn this into a skill. And so to answer what's the skill and you just say, I want to start from scratch. And then it's going to interview you and ask you a whole bunch of questions, right?
So what should this skill enable you, Claude, to do? Describe it, right? So if you've done the document my process skill from earlier in the video and you've gone through and you've tested that and it's working really well, now you can turn it into a skill using the skill creator skill.
It's super easy. Okay, for skill number five, this is what I call my counsel offer validator. The reason I created this is because Claude is psychophantic like a lot of other AI models.
It's going to agree with you by default. fault. It wants to help you.
And here's an example. You have an idea that you're really excited about and everyone you told also is saying that it sounds great. So you don't need another yes person here because if everybody's telling you, yes, yes, yes, you should be a little bit nervous, honestly.
Well, this skill convenes five agents whose only job is to find the flaw in your offer, your strategy, whatever it might be that you are too close to see. okay now these are simulated personas not real customers when all five agree that's a strong hypothesis worth testing okay not proof that this is the best idea ever it means like okay let's move forward with testing this so let's type in council forward slash council and so now it's asking you for the idea like what do you want the council to run against like is it a new offer is it a new product is it a strategy that you want to test out is it whatever it might be so i'm just going to say considering adding a free school community for my prior to my AI playbook.
I'm actually not doing that, but I want to see what it comes back with. So now it's going to ask me some clarifying questions, which I want it to do, right? Because it's more helpful to make it more relevant to me.
So I'm going to choose, what's the free community's primary job? I don't know. Audience, list growth only.
Who would actually run the free community day -to -day? Probably be me. And how fast do you want this live?
I would say, let's just say next 30 days. Okay. Submit answers.
And now it says it's convening the council. So now it's going to spin up five sub agents and analyze it based on what I've trained them. Okay.
So it just finished its run and it's given me a verdict. So I always ask it to land on, tell me to ship it, fix it or skip it. Okay.
And so it's telling me to fix it. So it's not saying it's a bad idea, but there's a lot of changes that would need to be made. So it's tells me in one line, what to, what it's recommending that I do, why the biggest risk, the biggest upside, the blind spot, uh, the money read the cheapest two day test, the 48 hour test, which I like.
So it gives me an overall score of five out of 10, which isn't great, but it's in the middle here. And then telling me What to do to fix it basically in the next 30 days.
But it's saying don't build a standalone free school community in 30 days. Instead, try this. And it gives me the first move.
This, I love this skill so much because I have. made these personas, these five other personas here that are going to give me viewpoints on a variety of different angles. And it's kind of like having your own mini mastermind at your fingertips.
It's awesome. All right, for skill number six, this is my content wheel skill. This is my content repurposing skill.
Specifically, I take a called transcript. and I repurpose it into real content. So what happens is you have a great call, right?
Whether it's a client call, whether it's a Q &A call with your members or what have you, right? 90 minutes of amazing material, real member questions if you're working with your students. stories that either your students share or you share.
But then what happens is you sit, it sits in a folder. Now you don't sit in a folder. The transcript sits in a folder and then nothing comes of it.
Well, everyone watching has a zoom recording graveyard, right? Myself included in the past until this skill. Okay.
So here I am back in Claude and I have a 90, it's actually close to two hour transcript here of my AI playbook weekly Q and a call. So what I'm going to do here is I'm going to right click. the path.
I'm going to bring it in here and I'm just going to type in forward slash content wheel. Here's content wheel. And I'm going to give it, I'm going to say, use this transcript here.
Okay. So now what it's doing, it's reading my voice guide, reading the transcript, and then using this skill to repurpose it into multiple forms of content. And as you notice here, it's 1246 lines.
So it's a pretty big transcript. So it pulls out the through line of the call. And now it's going to create the content for me and then give me an output file to review all the content that it creates.
Okay, in a matter of three minutes, it's finished up. So again, it's giving me the file where the assets that it created from the one transcript gives me the core insight why that one. Also gives me the different posts that it made for me.
So school post there tomorrow, flags worth your eyes. So let's take a look at what it wrote. Okay, and here's the output that it created here.
So it gave me, let's see here, five golden moments as it calls it from the call, gave me five short form hooks that I can use in short form videos. So it gave them all to me right here. Keep scrolling down.
Here's the section of the newsletter. that I have, I call it what I'm seeing. And again, written in my voice because the skill brings in my writing style and tone of voice file.
Wrote me a school post to share about the call. And then also wrote a number of different ad hooks for me. So if I wanna run meta ads, I can use these hooks right here that it's giving me.
In fact, it's giving me the entire. ad copy if I want to, if I want to use that ad copy. And then at the end here gives me these flags.
We never just copy and paste. And these are things that definitely, I definitely want to check out because as you know, by if you're watching the channel for any period of time, we never copy and paste just the AI output into wherever we're going to be posting. That's where the AI slot comes from.
So this is a huge time saver. repurposing the content of what we're already creating during the week. Okay, for the last skill I want to share with you, this is my business bottleneck buster is what I call it.
And this might be the most important skill on this list here today because one of the biggest things that I see coaching online entrepreneurs all the time is they're trying to apply AI to the wrong things in their business simply because they can and it's easy. But if we are automating the wrong things, just because we can, or we're applying AI to the wrong things in our business, just because we can.
We're not really moving the business forward. So that is exactly why I created the business bottleneck buster skill. That's a mouthful, which interviews you one question at a time to find a single constraint that's.
actually capping your growth. And it won't tell you what it thinks until it's asked all the questions, right? So you can't like skip to the end.
And that's intentional because it needs to have a full understanding to be able to give you what the biggest bottleneck is in your business so that it'll then create a plan for you using AI to overcome that bottleneck. So here in Cloud, I'm going to type in forward slash bottleneck. bottleneck buster here and so it's gonna ask me it's gonna ask me a series of questions right what's your primary business model right now and I'm just gonna say I'm gonna do this for a hypothetical client of mine and the reason I'm doing that by the way is just because if I do it on my business gonna pull up actual numbers and stuff like that and people's names and so forth so I want to be protective of that and so I'm just gonna say a coaching business who also creates content.
So again, I'm gonna continue to answer these questions until we get to the end where it'll give me a clear picture of what the bottleneck is and what next steps are. Okay, so I've just answered probably eight to 10 questions here as part of this skill. And it's telling me, it's giving me the diagnosis of the number one constraint for this hypothetical example here, the offered audience fit visible at the point of conversion.
The business is excellent at building an audience and unable to convert in both conversion stages are broken at once. Why it's the constraint. And then it gives me a detailed plan.
So your plan mapped to the five focusing steps, identify, exploit, subordinate, elevate, and repeat. And it breaks down each of these steps telling me exactly what to do. And then it even tells me, okay, this week's first move, pull the list of the 49 people.
And so then again, it says, want me to save this as a file so you can come back to it later. So yeah, I would totally, as you can see here, want me to save this as a file. Yes, I'd absolutely want to save as a file because then I can have Claude break it down even more.
And it also gives me a before because I can come back to this in 90 days and say, okay, remember where we were with the last bottleneck? Here's where we are now. Let's move on to the next bottleneck and rerun this skill again.
All right, so there you have it, seven skills. that I've either adapted from somewhere else that I've found or created myself to run in my business all the time. They're a huge help to me.
I will link to, so you can grab the skills in the description below. Also, again, I've included in the description below the video here, the link to the Zapier report. Highly recommend that you go check that out because it is gonna walk you through exactly how to be saving more money with your AI use.
Again, link in the description below. As always, thanks so much for watching today's video. Appreciate you, and I'll see you in the next one.
The Hook

The bait, then the rug-pull.

Rick Mulready says he's tried hundreds of Claude skills chasing the same promise: something that saves real hours instead of just producing more chat. These are the seven that survived contact with an actual coaching business, from a skill that forces him to write down a process before delegating it, to one that refuses to name his business's biggest bottleneck until it's finished asking every question.
