Big Idea

The argument in one line.

AI-generated copy costs beginners sales because persuasion is a learned skill, not a word count, while AI used for ad targeting and product-building is a legitimate, proven revenue driver.

Who This Is For

Read if. Skip if.

READ IF YOU ARE…
  • You run or are starting a digital product or coaching business and lean on ChatGPT or Claude to write your sales pages, emails, or checkout copy.
  • You've noticed your content or offers aren't converting and suspect your writing is part of the problem.
  • You're curious about legitimate, non-writing uses of AI (ad targeting, internal tools) to grow a small business.
SKIP IF…
  • You already have professional copywriting experience or a copywriter on staff.
  • You're looking for AI prompt techniques or tool tutorials rather than a persuasion argument.
TL;DR

The full version, fast.

A conversion copywriter argues most beginners are losing money with AI, not making it, because they let ChatGPT or Claude write anything that asks for a sale or a follow. Readers recognize AI's recycled phrasing ('it's not this, it's that,' 'quiet revolution') and that recognition kills trust before an offer even lands. Her fix isn't quitting AI, it's learning persuasive copywriting as a durable skill AI can't replace. She then names the two AI uses actually making her business money: letting Meta's ad AI find and target buyers (students see sales within 24-48 hours off $5/day budgets), and building small AI tools to sell to her existing audience.

01 · Two camps: AI winners vs. AI losers

Thesis stated over a two-column graphic: a small group uses AI as a superpower to make millions, most people sloppily use AI and leave money on the table.

00:5202:56

02 · Beginner vs. master, and why AI writing destroys trust

A beginner sees AI's word count as value; a master knows 50 right words sell. She names ChatGPT's recognizable patterns ('it's not this, it's that,' 'quiet revolution') as trust-killers that sabotage sales.

02:5604:06

03 · Not anti-AI, anti-skipping the skill

Reframes her position: the problem isn't AI itself, it's beginners lacking the persuasion skill. Warns against shortcutting the process of learning conversion copywriting, and predicts AI-feature-happy companies will alienate customers.

04:0605:45

04 · The first way we use AI to make money: Meta ads

Meta's ad AI now finds ideal customers and picks creative/targeting automatically. A student case study (Annalise) goes from one $17 sale on day one to $81 across three sales by day four, on a $5/day budget.

05:4506:37

05 · The second way: building and selling AI tools

Beyond ads, she and her team build AI-powered tools that are easy to make and sell well to her existing student audience. Closes with a next-video CTA on how that works.

Atomic Insights

Lines worth screenshotting.

  • A beginner sees AI generate 5,000 words in ten seconds; a master knows that 50 right words are what actually make the sale.
  • The single most expensive AI mistake isn't video editing or code generation, it's letting AI write anything that asks for money or a follow.
  • Readers recognize recycled ChatGPT phrasing like 'it's not this, it's that' and 'quiet revolution,' and that recognition reads as a stranger's voice, not yours.
  • AI-written sales copy doesn't just fail to help, it actively sabotages conversions by breaking the trust a buyer needs to click and pay.
  • Persuasive copywriting is a life skill that can never be taken away, unlike a tactic or a platform trend.
  • Companies that go AI-feature-happy risk alienating and losing customers even while looking innovative on the surface.
  • Meta's ad AI now finds and targets ideal customers well enough that basic $5-a-day campaigns can produce sales within 24 to 48 hours.
  • Letting an ad platform's AI handle targeting and creative selection removes the need to be a highly skilled media buyer to get results.
  • Building and selling small AI-powered tools to an existing audience is a second, separate revenue line from using AI to write copy.
Takeaway

AI text generation isn't the money-maker you think it is.

WHAT TO LEARN

Persuasive copy is a skill you build, not a word count AI can generate for you, and the real AI money is in ad targeting and tools, not sales writing.

  • AI can generate thousands of words instantly, but persuasive copy comes down to choosing the right handful of words, something AI-generated text doesn't reliably do.
  • Readers recognize ChatGPT's recycled phrasing, like 'it's not this, it's that' constructions, and that recognition breaks trust before you ever make an offer.
  • Letting AI write anything that asks for money or a follow costs more revenue than using AI for editing, coding, or image generation ever will.
  • Conversion copywriting is a transferable skill: once you learn what makes a stranger buy, no algorithm update or AI trend can take it away.
  • AI earns its keep on the back end, not the front end, letting ad platforms handle targeting so even a beginner can see sales within 24 to 48 hours off a $5 daily budget.
  • Building and selling small AI tools to your existing audience is a separate, legitimate revenue line from using AI to write your sales copy.

metaphor
I'm convinced that most people watching this video, including you, are actually losing money because of AI. There's a small group of people over here who are using AI as a superpower to make the millions of dollars in their business. And most people are over here in this camp who are actually leaving a ton of money, hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars on the table because they are sloppily using AI in their business.
And in fact, it would be better if they did not use AI at all. This is not anti AI. It's anti you not having the skill to persuade someone to buy from you.
In this video, I'm gonna show you how to use AI correctly as a beginner in your digital product business. I hope you're ready. I'm gonna get on my soapbox.
Here's why I think that if you're a beginner, AI is costing you money, not making you money. You don't have the mastery. You don't have the skills to know what's actually good.
And so a beginner will see, wow. AI just generated 5,000 words in ten seconds, but a master will know 50 right words will actually make the sale.
And so I, having written persuasive copy, conversion copy for over a decade, can look at what Chatty Bitty or Claude generates and understand that the words that it just put together and strung as a sentence will never actually get someone to buy.
But I'm a master at it, and so I understand why what AI is generating will never make you money. If you're just getting started, you don't have that skill set yet, And so you'll have ChattyPT write all the copy for a checkout page.
You will put it on your checkout page, and then you'll wonder why you're not getting any sales. The thing that's costing you the most money in my opinion, it's not having AI edit your videos. It's not having AI put together some code for you.
It's not having AI generate images. That's not costing you the most amount of money. The thing that's costing you the most amount of money is using AI to write anything where you're asking for money or you're asking for a follower.
The primary reason I abhor ChatGPT writing content is because it's such a recognizable pattern.
We're all starting to learn what ChatGPT content sounds like. It'll be like, and frankly, it's not you, it's this.
So it's it's not this, it's that. Frankly, honestly, if I'm being for real and it'll also use things like it's a quiet revolution.
It's using recognizable repeated word patterns and word phrases over and over again. And what happens is you post content or you put copy on a checkout page that's not written by you, that's written by a robot. People feel that difference.
They feel that they recognize that voice, and they recognize it as not yours. And do know what that does? It destroys trust.
They don't trust you. You lost them. They click away, and they don't buy.
And so the reason we don't like it is because it's not just a neutral thing where it's like, it could be better. No. It actively sabotages your sales.
And so I don't care. Like I said, in some places you can use AI and it's great and we do. We're making actually a ton of money from AI.
I'll get into that later. This is not anti AI. It's anti you not having the skill to persuade someone to buy from you.
And by the way, learning how to write persuasive copy is a skill that you could that can never be taken away from you. You will always know what to say to a prospect in order to get them to buy from you.
This is a great life skill to have. You are unaware, and I'm saying this with love, but you are unaware as a beginner at how this content is coming across, and you're struggling to understand why your content is flopping and your pages aren't converting.
And so I genuinely care about you. I actually really want your business to be successful, and I would strongly recommend that you do not shortcut the process of learning conversion copywriting.
You cannot shortcut the process of knowing what words to put together to your potential customers in order to get the sale. And you're wanting to cut corners, and I get it. It's a lot.
But you're wanting to cut corners is why you're unhappy with the revenue that you have right now. Bottom line, just because something can be done with AI does not mean that it should be done with AI. Just because you can generate a feature doesn't mean you should.
And I'm making a prediction right now. There are a ton of companies that are actively running themselves into the ground, alienating their customers, getting a ton of cancellations because they are being AI feature happy, and they're clogging their systems with AI.
And I'm thinking of one company in particular that I'm not going to name on camera, but I really would be surprised if they're around in five years because every day I'm talking to their customers that are getting alienated because of all the freaking AI features that they're adding, and it's really, really bothering people.
Just because you can do something with AI does not mean that you should. Okay. Two ways that we use AI to make a lot of money.
One, we use a lot of AI to run our ads. Meta has done some incredible new developments in the last, like, few years, like a year or two to use AI to find your ideal customers, get your ideal customers to buy, pick the best ad creatives, pick the best targeting. We don't really do any of that anymore.
Meta does it for us. This is all new stuff. This is new developments using AI to find the best customers for you.
You used to have to be a really clever, really savvy marketer in order to and scale ads. That's just not the case anymore.
In fact, we have students who will start running basic $5 a day ads and get sales within twenty four to forty eight hours. And I always love sharing different testimonials about this because it just shows you what this process actually looks like. So this is one of our real students, Annalise, and she says, I just started to implement the $5 a day strategy three days ago.
So not a long time. She says on her first day, she got one sale, $17 sale. Second day, two sales.
So now that's $17, $34. Third day, another two sales. So we're making sales day one, and we're making sales consistently every single day.
And she says on day four, she woke up with three sales, $81, and the day is just getting started.
This is why we say ads are for everyone. If you've made at least a dollar in your business, you should be taking advantage of some of the incredible developments that have been happening in the world of meta advertising and how they use AI to find the right people to buy from you. It makes your return on ad spend that much better, and you get results that much faster.
Not because humans are doing anything better because AI is doing something better. This is a really good use of using AI to make a lot of money. The second way that we use AI to make a ton of money is we use AI to create, build, and sell really sexy tools that people pay us to use.
These AI tools are super easy to build. They're actually extremely useful to our students, and they're selling like hotcakes. If you wanna dive a little deeper into how we're doing that, watch this video next.
