This is how I took my OBS from looking something like this to something like this. I have tried basically every OBS plugin worth using at this point.
I've spent years refining my stream layout, optimizing my workflow, obsessing over every single detail of my stream. I basically built my entire brand behind top five OBS plugin videos.
Guys, I don't know how much longer I can keep milky. It's been, like, six years. So I thought it was finally time that I showed you not just which plugins I've been using, but how I've actually been using them to get my stream to look like this.
Not just all of the fancy animations and the graphics, but also all the little utilities and custom docs that I use to manage my streams. I've started writing my own streamer bible, which you can find on my website, by the way, nutty g g. I have been documenting every single plugin I use, every single piece of software I use for my workflow, everything I use in my stream setup, like the cameras and that that bar thing behind me that everyone keeps asking me about.
I will try to keep it up to date. So by the time that you watch this video in the future, it should be current as long as I'm not dead.

I think it's best to demonstrate the plug ins I use by just walking you through my setup, and it all starts before I even open OBS. There's a bunch of tools that I need while I'm streaming apart from just OBS.
I use Spotify for my music, Lumia Stream for controlling all of my LED lights, and, of course, StreamerBot for my chatbot.
So rather than open up each program individually, I use a plugin called Auto Starter, which basically allows me to launch all of my different programs that I use in my stream automatically right when I start OBS.
There's even a little setting that can automatically close each application when I close OBS. Highly recommend this one if you run a lot of programs. Now before I get into all of the plugins I use, one of the most annoying things about OBS is making sure all of my plugins are up to date.
They're currently working on an official OBS plugin manager, but that's probably not gonna be done for several years at this point. So instead, I've installed the StreamUp OBS plugin. This plugin adds a bunch of features to OBS, but really the only one I actually use is the built in plugin updater.
Every time I launch OBS, OBS will notify me if I have any plugins that are out of date, and then it will give me a direct link to where to download the plugin. Now first big thing you'll notice in my setup, I have two canvases.
I currently stream to Twitch in both horizontal and vertical formats, and for that, I use ATEM Vertical and ATEM Multistream. There's a few different plugins that you can use to do this, but ATEM Vertical and ATEM Multistream are just the simplest and most reliable plugins right now.
ATEM Vertical just adds that second vertical canvas to OBS, so you can make a completely separate layout just for your vertical platforms. I also stream to Kik and YouTube right now.
Plus, I also stream using the enhanced broadcasting feature. It's a very complex setup, and ATEM multistream just handles multistreaming better than any other plugin I've ever tried. You can even set it up so that your scene transitions are synced between both of your canvases.
Speaking of transitions, let's talk about those for a sec. Because as you can see, I have, like, these really smooth animated transitions between my scenes. This all comes from a plug in called Move.
This one won my GOBS POAT award a few years ago, greatest OBS plug in of all time. And, yeah, that's still the case.
You could do so much with this plugin, not just smooth transitions, but you could slide individual sources around the screen, smoothly transition individual filters on your sources, even full blown animations where your camera's moving all over the place.
I've talked about this plugin in several videos at this point. I even have a full master class just on this plugin alone. But in short, if you're looking for a way to impress your viewers and just add that little level of polish to your stream, yeah, the Move plugin is probably the first plugin you should install.
I do use other types of transitions. This animated transition here is, in fact, not a Stinger transition. I know a lot of you were probably thinking it's a stinger transition.
That's not what this is. A stinger transition is like a type of cool animation that happens in between scenes.
You see this a lot in sports broadcast where it plays like this this full animated video whenever you go from one scene to another. This is a little like that, but instead of playing a video, it uses a browser source.
So rather than playing a video every time you hit a scene transition, this one renders the transition in HTML, which is way less resource intensive, and it gives you the advantage of being able to customize, like, the colors and the logos without having to rerender a whole new video.
It's called browser transition. It sounds really complicated, but Nerd or Die actually has a website where you can customize your own transition and use it with this plugin. I have two browser transitions that I customize with Nerd or Die.
One that spells out my name Nutty in the blue and purple bisexual colors that I love, and one that does like this pen pen pentagonal.
Is that a word? Pentagonal transition.
I also use a plug in called transition table. If you want full control over which transitions play, for example, whenever I'm going from my starting soon screen to my main scenes, I want it to play this browser transition.
But for all of my other scenes, I just wanted to use a standard mood transition. Transition table is what you're looking for. You may have noticed, yes, I do have a five camera setup in my stream.

Okay? Otherwise, my channel will die, and then it will be all your fault. I'll talk about my entire camera setup in a separate video because it's it's pretty involved.
I do wanna talk about one of these cameras, though. I always get asked what this camera is at the back of my room. How do I connect my camera to the PC when it's, like, so far away from my PC?
Like, am I just using, like, a really long USB cable? Like, what what's going on with that? So this camera is actually the OBSBOT Tail Air.
I've done a video on this. It's a full body tracking camera, which pivots.
It's got, like, a gimbal. It follows me as I walk around my room. But more importantly, it's wireless.
It's connected to my PC using NDI. I installed a plug in called Distro AV, which allows me to connect NDI devices to OBS. I'm not gonna get into the technical details, but TLDR, NDI is a way to connect video and audio devices over your local network, which means I don't need the camera to be physically connected to my PC.
It just connects to my PC over Wi Fi. While we're on the topic of cameras, I can also connect my phone to my PC using a plug in called Droid Cam OBS. It's really simple.
You just install an OBS plug in, install the app on your phone, and then you can use your phone as a camera in OBS. I even set up a shortcut on my lock screen.
So whenever I'm streaming and I wanna show something up close with my phone, I just grab my phone, unlock it, automatically connects to OBS, and I'm streaming I'm streaming the video from my phone. The app is, like, $5 on the App Store.
It is super worth it, though. The quality and the latency is really good. So if if you are looking for a simple way to connect your phone to OBS, DroidCam OBS is what you want.
In terms of audio, there's really just one plugin that I use. If you're looking for an easy way to split up your audio for all your different programs for Spotify, your game audio, what have you, without having to install something like VoiceMeeter or Wavelink, WinCaptureAudio is the plugin that you want.
Basically, it adds the option to add individual programs as audio sources in OBS. So instead of all your audio being combined together as desktop audio, you can have them split up in your audio mixer directly in OBS.
Now you can technically do this without any plug ins, but this plug in lets you group programs together. So if you have eight different games and you don't want a separate slider for every single program, you can combine them together as a single slider.
I should probably talk about the visuals on my stream. We already talked about transitions, but you may have noticed that I've got my cameras cut up in these unique shapes.
These are just PNG masks in OVS. You don't need a plug in for these. However, if all you're looking to do is cut out basic shapes like circles or add a rounded border around your camera, the advanced mask plug in might be a better option.
You can see this used in my triple camera scene to slice up my cameras at an angle, and this plugin is much more convenient than using PNG masks because if I wanna change the angle or move where the slice is, I don't have to generate a new PNG every single time. I also use the stroke glow shadow plugin to add these subtle drop shadows to make it look like the cameras are layered on top of each other.
It looks really cool in my desktop scene. I've created a copy of my gameplay using the source clone plugin.
Source clone is a plugin that allows you to create a copy of any source in OBS, and then you can apply filters to that clone without affecting the original source.
So in this scene, I used the source clone plugin to make a copy of my gameplay source, and then I added a blur effect to that source using another plug in called composite blur.
And then I layered it underneath my gameplay. And then adding that altogether with that subtle drop shadow sort of makes my gameplay look like it's it's a floating window.
It's like a really unique look, at least it was a unique look until all you bitches started copying me years ago. I can tell instantly, by the way, if someone's watched my YouTube videos.
If they use that blurry background thing, I know I know where you got that from. Okay? I I can see you.
Okay? I also run a bunch of special effects in my stream, you know, for fun.
There's a bunch of plugins that I use get extra filters that I can apply to any source that I want. I will now speed run through all those plugins because I couldn't think of a clever way of narratively stringing them altogether.
Three d effect is a plugin that that allows you to tilt sources in three d space. I use this one on my just chatting scene to make a tilted copy of my gameplay in the corner. Freeze filter is a plugin that lets you freeze frame your camera, which I use for this thug life redeem.
Gradient source lets you create gradients. I use this for that colored bar that you see at the bottom of my stream, and I even stacked a scroll filter in it to make it kinda look like this neon light effect. The noise plug in lets you create these fractal noise effects like this purple mist pattern that I use in my starting soon screen.
OBS shader filter adds a ton of filters you can add to any source like this shake filter. And if you're clever enough, you can stack filters on top of each other. I made this effect right here that makes it look like I'm going through one of those portals from Apex Legends.
Pixel art adds a pixelated effect that you can use to censor parts of your screen. I use this for the Game Boy camera effect that I have on my stream that takes a picture of my camera, and then it prints it on these little physical receipt papers.
Recursion effect allows you to make these repeated patterns. I use this on my rate alert. Source record lets you record individual sources.
I gotta be honest. This plugin is kind of buggy, but I use it in my TikTok redeem where this phone pops up, and then it records a little clip of my stream and then uploads that little video to my Discord server.
Normally, all these effects that you're seeing right now can only be applied to individual sources, but what if you wanted to apply effects to the entire canvas? And for that, I use a plugin called downstream keyer.
With this plugin, I'm able to apply effects like this wavy pattern effect, not just to my camera, but to the entire screen.
By the way, it is not lost on me that this must be a lot for you to process. So if the if you're getting really overwhelmed right now, just take a break. Just relax.
And then we got more, baby. I'm trying to cram like 30 plugins into one video. I get confused looking at my OBS.
Almost every plugin I use adds some kind of dock to OBS, and trying to fit all that into one screen is just impossible.
That's where JR Docky comes in. Of all the plugins I use, this is the one I can't live without.
Like, literally, I would I would actually kill myself without actually talking over that far. JR Dockey allows you to set up dock presets. So instead of every single dock open at all times, you can just create these arrangements of docks in OBS.
For example, when I'm streaming, all I wanna see are my two canvases and a list of scenes to transition to.
But if I wanna manage my stream, maybe change my stream titles, make a new poll, I've got an entirely separate dock preset, which I call dashboards.
And I could freely swap between these dock presets at any moment depending on whatever it is that I wanna focus on. By the way, these docs here are my own custom widgets, which I built myself. You can find them on my website, nutty g g.
I made this multistream title updater thing that lets you update all your stream titles from just a single doc in OBS. I also just released this multistream polls widget for running multistream polls across different platforms.
This one's a tier two exclusive widget, which you can access right now through the $10 tier, which would be great because I, uh, I worked hard in it, and I would like if some of you guys supported me financially to justify the time I put in to these things.
You might have noticed I also have a search bar here. I have, like, 350 sources in OBS, and trying to hunt for one source in my 90 plus scenes is, like, cringe as fuck.
So I use the quick access utility plugin to add a search doc in OBS, and it makes it really easy to find exactly where a particular source is or where a particular filter is.
You can even search on the file path. It also gives you way to make these stripped down scene docs that only contain the scenes that you actually wanna use while you're streaming without all of your nested scenes.
Like I said, I have, like, 90 scenes in OBS, but I really only use, like, 10 to 15 of them while I'm streaming. So there's really no reason for me to have a list of every single scene I have in OBS.
I just wanna see a cut down list while I'm streaming and makes it really easy for me to focus. Oh, and remember how I said I have five cameras in my setup? There's another plugin called source dock that allows you to dock individual sources or individual scenes so that you could monitor what they look like even if that source is not on the active scene.
I have a dock preset that I call camera switcher that contains three camera ports.
These are all just source docks, and I use these for swapping out cameras on my triple camera scene. So this scene has three different camera ports for my cameras, and I could just slot in any camera I want using source dock, and I could see a preview for each camera even when I'm not on my triple scene layout.
If you've stuck around to this point of the video, I truly admire your patience. I'm really not explaining things very well, but I worked too hard on this video already.
So we're just gonna power through this one. This is a rough one, guys.
I'm not gonna lie to you. This last few set of plugins, I'm going to categorize as the rest of them.
I sorry. I didn't know how to I didn't know a logical way to group all of these plugins. Closed captioning is a pretty great plugin.
It allows you to add closed captions to Twitch natively. Like, you just install a plug in, and then your stream will automatically get a CC button that your viewers can turn on.
You can also burn the captions into your stream if you want. I had some extra space on my vertical canvas, so I just decided to plop the captions underneath the video because because why not?
The draw plugin adds a whiteboard to your stream so you could draw on it John Madden style. I basically use this plugin to highlight new features I've added to my stream because nobody ever notices until I draw, like, a red circle around it.
It's like, you know when your wife is like, notice anything different about me, honey? And you have no idea what she's talking about. Boom.
Red circle. You know how much easier that would be if you just put red circles over what's different? And finally, source copy.
This one lets you export individual scenes or individual sources so you can copy them between scene collections. I honestly don't use this one that often, but if you need that, there you go.
But that's it. That's every single OBS plugin I use as of May 2026. I know it's way past May, but that's how long I've been sitting on the script because I've been dreading making this video because it's gonna take me a really long time to edit this.
