Big Idea

The argument in one line.

MCP turns Claude from a chatbot into an AI director's chair - wire it to Magnific once and generate, animate, and upscale cinematic footage using nothing but plain-English prompts.

Who This Is For

Read if. Skip if.

READ IF YOU ARE…
  • You already use Claude Desktop and want to generate professional-looking AI video without learning a separate tool.
  • You create content and want a faster path from concept to cinematic visuals without switching between apps.
  • You are curious about MCP integrations and want a concrete, working example you can replicate in under 10 minutes.
  • You have or are considering a Magnific subscription and want to get more out of it via automation.
SKIP IF…
  • You need production-ready video at scale - this workflow is exploratory and credit-limited.
  • You are already fluent in direct Magnific API use and do not need the Claude intermediary.
TL;DR

The full version, fast.

MCP is a standard protocol that lets Claude Desktop act as an operator of other AI platforms. By adding Magnific's MCP connector - a single URL paste - Claude gains access to Magnific's full generation suite. You can then write natural-language prompts that chain image generation, video animation, and 4K upscaling in one conversation thread. The tutorial covers the three-minute setup, a simple beach-walk video generation, and a more controlled two-step workflow using specific model slugs and cinematic metatokens to get predictable, high-quality results.

Atomic Insights

Lines worth screenshotting.

  • MCP is not an app - it is a protocol, like a USB port, that lets any MCP-compatible AI client operate any MCP-compatible tool.
  • You can chain image generation, video animation, and 4K upscaling in a single Claude chat thread without opening Magnific's interface.
  • Telling Claude which model to use (Seedream 5, Veo 3.1) gives you more predictable output than letting it choose automatically.
  • Cinematic metatokens - anamorphic lens, shallow depth of field, 35mm film grain, neon bokeh - are prompt additions that reliably shift AI output toward a specific visual register.
  • Claude asks clarifying questions mid-generation that Magnific's own interface would skip, adding a layer of directorial refinement.
  • Testing an MCP connection with a credit-balance query is the fastest sanity check - it confirms auth without spending generation credits.
  • The Always Allow permission pattern in Claude lets you pre-authorize a tool so it runs silently in future sessions.
  • Upscaling a generated still to 4K for a thumbnail is a zero-extra-cost step that significantly raises perceived production quality.
  • Keeping the entire workflow inside one chat thread means Claude retains context and can reference prior outputs without re-uploading.
  • MCP integrations are available across Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, ChatGPT, and Gemini - one connector URL, many clients.
Takeaway

One connection turns Claude into an AI video director.

WHAT TO LEARN

Pasting a single MCP URL into Claude Desktop eliminates the gap between describing a shot and producing it - the chat becomes the production interface.

  • MCP is a protocol, not a plugin - any MCP-compatible client can connect to any MCP-compatible tool using the same URL, with no per-client setup beyond a paste.
  • Testing a new MCP connection with a low-stakes query before running a generation saves credits and confirms auth in under 10 seconds.
  • Specifying the model slug in your prompt overrides Claude's automatic tool selection and produces more consistent, repeatable output.
  • Cinematic metatokens - anamorphic lens, shallow depth of field, 35mm film grain - are transferable across image and video models and reliably shift output toward a professional visual register.
  • Chaining workflows inside a single chat thread preserves context so Claude can reference prior outputs in follow-up prompts, enabling multi-step production pipelines from one conversation.
  • Upscaling a generated still to 4K for a thumbnail can be appended to any image-generation workflow as a standing instruction with no extra conceptual overhead.

00:00That cinematic shot, I made it by just typing in one sentence in the clog. No editor, no separate app, no learning 10 different models.
00:10Let me show you exactly how to do this. So what exactly is MCP? MCP is basically think of it like a USB port, but for AI, it's a standard that lets Claude plug straight into Magnific and use it for you.
00:24We're connecting an LLM with Magnific. They're gonna talk to each other.
00:29The AI is gonna do all the work for you. You're just simply the director that gives the instructions. It pulls in everything and lays it all out.
00:36So if you don't have a subscription to Magnific yet, there's a link in my description to get an additional 20% off discount when you do sign up. So the first thing you're gonna wanna do is open up claw just like this. Now, in the bottom left hand corner where your name is, go ahead and click this.
00:53Once you're in here, you're gonna go ahead now select settings. After you open up settings on the left hand side, select connectors. It should say connectors have moved to customize.
01:02So right here, click customize. Now, once we're in here, we're almost ready to go. Now, up on the top left hand corner, you could see I already have these two connectors installed.
01:12It really is this simple. What you're gonna specifically and what Magnific actually does to make this pretty simple is this.
01:19If you go to Magnific's website for MCP, it gives you the very basic instructions right here. We have claw desktop, clawed code, chat g p t, cursor codex, v s code, gemini, and herme.
01:31Now, today we're gonna be using clawed desktop. Now, you don't have to use desktop specifically. You can.
01:36You can also use the web version. Now depending on what model you choose, it's gonna provide you with this link right here. Now for clawed desktop specifically, if I select add to Claude in one link like this, it's gonna redirect me over here into Claude.
01:51All you have to do, now I already did this. I'm not gonna hit add again, is simply select add and you're done.
01:57Or the other thing you can do is just simply copy this link right here. Hit this copy button. And now once you do that, up at the very top, we're gonna hit this plus button.
02:05We're gonna select add custom connector. Now you're gonna paste in that URL that you copied, hit add, and now you're done. Now what you wanna do first is test the connections.
02:16So then what you wanna ask is this. Say, what's my Magnific credit balance?
02:21If it gives you the specific details, you're successfully connected. Now back over here in the clog.
02:27So now all we have to do is just specify our prompt. Look at this. We're gonna say using Magnific, create a cinematic video of a woman walking her dog down the beach in Hawaii.
02:36As long as you've mentioned Magnific, we're gonna be able to generate a video. And you can see see over here, it's working.
02:42It's finding the tools and it's planning the video preproduction. And now look at this over here. I love this right here because Claude asks a question.
02:50What breed of dogs?
02:58But remember, the purpose of this video today is really just to show you the basics. How to connect it, what a MCP is, and how to actually start using it.
03:09But once we really start diving deep, that's why I want you to hit that subscribe button. I'm gonna create some videos that are really gonna blow you away with the full capabilities and features of what we can create and build with MCPs.
03:21Okay. So now our video is done. Look how amazing this turned out.
03:29Okay. Now moving on. Now let's take even more control.
03:32Here is what we're gonna go ahead and paste in the clog right here. Using Magnific, first generate a photorealistic cinematic still in '25 with Seadream five.
03:42I went ahead and gave it my details. Alright? Metatokens like anamorphic lens, shallow depth of field.
03:49Then look at this. Let me go ahead and hit that enter button. Once it's done, you could see right here, animate that exact image into a five second video with v o 3.1.
03:58More metatokens, slow push in, show me the still, and the final video.
04:04Now, hit this submit. This whole process is gonna get to work. The difference now this time is that we're not gonna give it control over what tools to use.
04:12We're saying what we want specifically. Now, it's gonna ask us the question, Claude wants to use list image models from Magnific. Say always allow.
04:21Now we're ready to go. Now our image is done and look what we get. Now what we're gonna do is this specifically.
04:28We're gonna type this into Claude verbatim. Take that still and upgrade it with Magnific upscaler so that I have a four k version for a thumbnail.
04:38And now we have the upscaled image, which will then convert into a video. Look how amazing this is. And again, we never left the chat.
04:49Let me know what you guys think in the comments below. And remember, check the links in the description to get a discount to Magnific. And if you like this video, please remember to hit that subscribe and like button.
04:59Until then, I'll see you next time.
05:17We're not in Texas anymore.
The Hook

The bait, then the rug-pull.

The video opens not on a talking head, but on a Hollywood-grade rain-soaked city portrait - and then immediately reveals that the creator typed one sentence to make it. The gap between that claim and reality is what the next five minutes close.
